Community Spotlight: Jousting, Unstoppable Giants & Mighty Minis!
February 25, 2026 by crew
Come and join us for another delve into the Projects to find the best of the best from the last week or so. We'll be getting stuck into lots of great-looking miniature wargaming painting and hobbying this week...
...always let us know what YOU have been working on and share it across the site.
Hairfoot Jousting by scribbs
We start off this week with something lovely and charming. See what you think of scribbs' work on the miniatures from Hairfoot Jousting. These are adorable.
Hairfoot Jousting is an awesome miniatures game that came from the mind of Joseph A. McCullough and sees you playing as Halflings and Goblins who are jousting across grassy fields (or deep underground) and the miniatures from North Star Military Figures look glorious. Here, you can see some of the characters and their mounts painted by scribbs.
I really like all of the colours that you see as part of this collection and scribbs' painting. It looks glorious and really lets the characters sing, showcasing the sculpts. I also really like the little terrain pieces that have been included alongside them, all of which all have their own charm to them.
I also like the basing options for the different miniatures. The Hairfoot jousters are riding on grassy fields, whilst the Wartnose Goblins are riding across dirty scrubland. Even with the different bases, the colours used on the different jousters help to bind this collection together and make it feel like a whole. It's awesome and at some point, I really need to give this game a go. It looks glorious.
Sons of Behemat by tuffyears
Next up, we're having a look at a faction for Warhammer Age of Sigmar that I have always been intrigued by but never took the plunge into. The Sons of Behemat are an army of giants that you can play as in the game and tuffyears has been working through a full army of them.
One of the interesting things about the Sons of Behemat and painting them is that you're essentially only painting a handful of miniatures. It just turns out that these miniatures are massive and whilst it could make things quicker, it might end up actually taking a lot longer to get these miniatures done for the tabletop.
tuffyears has done a sterling job on painting all of these miniatures and getting them ready for the tabletop. I like the detail that they have worked into the sculpts and the little details that you can note here and there, drawing the eye to the focal points of the figures.
If this wasn't cool enough, as well as the bigger character Gargants, you also have the smaller figures, which you might remember from Warhammer Fantasy Battles.
What's neat is that a couple of these smaller Gargants have some funky flag-based loincloths. One of them shows off the stars and stripes and the other features a Union Jack. Again, there are plenty of fun details on show here for these miniatures. I know a lot of folks aren't sold on the Sons of Behemat but when you see them all together like this, they do seem cool!
Moonstone & More by paulgbarnes
Last but not least, we're having a look at some of the work by paulgbarnes who has been working on all sorts of different miniatures. For example, they have been tinkering with Moonstone and some of the lovely characters from the game.
Knoll the Troll has come together very nicely and I was particularly taken by the different shades of green used here and the lovely highlighting. It's well worth going to take a look at the project page to see what paulgbarnes has done for the back of Knoll, picking out some of the nice details here and there.
More of the Moonstone characters have also come to life like this lovely Gnome here.
It's great to see more Moonstone getting painted and I like how the range helps to engage people with different approaches to painting. I like that all of the miniatures are characters and therefore, you feel like you can spend a lot more time making them just perfect.
Last but not least, we also have a look at some of the other game systems that paulgbarnes has been working on, like Apocalypse here for Marvel: Crisis Protocol.
I think this Apocalypse miniature looks brilliant, especially when it comes to the way that the armour has been painted. I love the final look of the blue. It also helps that Apocalypse's face really draws you in. This project from paulgbarnes explores all sorts of different hobby projects that they have been working on, so make sure to dive in. Maybe you'll end up getting some inspiration to try something new.
