Community Spotlight: Sharpie!, Blood Bowl Players & Shadow Deep Monsters
January 28, 2026 by crew
Come and join us for another delve into the Projects to find the best of the best from the last week or so. We'll be getting stuck into lots of great-looking miniature wargaming painting and hobbying this week...
...always let us know what YOU have been working on and share it across the site.
Richard Sharpe by scribbs
We start off this week with a look at Sharpie! scribbs has been working away on painting up the brilliant 54mm version of Richard Sharpe from the Wargames Atlantic collection.
scribbs has done a sterling job on this miniature, modifying his techniques and painting style to bring the character of Sharpe to life. As you can see, he's here as he would have been during the Sharpe's Rifles, battling during the Peninsular War alongside Spanish allies. I think scribbs has managed to capture the look of Sean Bean from the TV show really nicely.
scribbs has broken down a bit of the process over on the project. I think it was interesting hearing that scribbs' big change was to move away from using washes on the miniature and instead being more selective on where certain techniques were used in order to bring the character to life. The green looks great and contrasts well with the bright red of his sash.
A brilliant miniature, painted really well and I think it would be great to see more of this range painted up by scribbs. If you're someone who likes a bit of Sharpe, you can actually dive in and see some more of scribbs' research, which involved some book readin' and some Sharpe watchin'!
Imperial Nobles by dugthefug1644
Moving on, we're diving into the world of Blood Bowl and the work by dugthefug1644, who has been painting up an Imperial Nobility team for use in the game.
dugthefug1644 did some lovely work recently on painting up the Norse for Blood Bowl and has now changed over to the muddy humans who are also taking to the field. I love the choice of red and white, which gets across that noble vibe. This then works well with the "gold" armour pieces, showcasing a bit more of the money that this team has to throw around.
dugthefug1644 also does a sterling job of painting up these miniatures with plenty of dirt, grime and blood in the equation. I like the liberal blood spread across strategic parts of the miniature and also the mud and dirt that covers their boots. It's great for telling the story behind the team and the match being played.
dugthefug1644 has done an amazing job of working the character and feel of the team into the painting process. You get a sense of who these players are how they all slot into the team. dugthefug1644's work is always inspirational and reminds me of just how great this hobby can be. Love it.
Shadow Deep Monsters by hidoi
Last but not least, we're having a look at the work by hidoi who has been starting their journey into the Fantasy wargame, Rangers of Shadow Deep.
hidoi has been doing a great job painting their way through the monsters that are needed for the game, starting with the first scenario, which requires plenty of the undead. So, they got their hands on a bunch of zombies and got to painting them up. I really like that they all feature different coloured clothing (and it's brightly painted!) which gives you a sense that these were all living people at one point with individual lives.
hidoi has said that they might have gone overboard when it comes to the amount of undead they painted but can you really have too many zombies? These were all 3D printed and have turned out very nicely indeed. As well as the zombies from Highlands Miniatures and Asgard Rising Miniatures, there are also some cool ratty folk from Tabletop-Art!
I like that hidoi is taking the opportunity to dive into Rangers in Shadow Deep. I also like that hidoi is taking this scenario by scenario. I can't wait to see the terrain they work on, the monsters they introduce and the characters that are going to become the Rangers who take on this challenge.

That Sharpe is toight.
Very cool, lovely projects, congrats winners
Very well done you b*star*s
Thanks for all the kind words and the GB. I’ve just finished up the 28mm version of Sharpe, which should get added to the project sometime this weekend.
Two other lovely projects as well. I do like seeing Blood Bowl players who look like they’re in the midst of a game, and Dug’s got that feel spot on. A good start to a monster collection for Rangers reminds me I really should get my act together and play a few more games of it myself.
Thanks for the butt-but-ding. Much appreciated. I enjoyed doing it. Already snowed under with the next project. 🙂
