It’s the Weekender!
Gaming News! (not much)
Gaming Mega Stars! (one and we’ve been waiting for this for sometime)
Updates of On-going Campaigns and Slow Grow Leagues! (not a lot)
Finally some Infinity and Operation Wildfire Goodness. Really enjoy hearing Carlos talk about Infinity, you can tell he really loves this game he’s helped bring into this world. Always a good time when Carlos in is the OTT studio.
***Star Wars: Legion Hobby Weekend*** I can’t wait. Sadly I can’t make it in person, but I’ll snag a digital ticket!
Happy Weekend!!!
An absolutely packed Saturday with no time for hobby, has just suddenly opened up and now I have the entire day to do as I please!!!!
May you all have such great luck in the days ahead! 🙂
Im chomping at the bit for the rest of the Primaris stuff to release. Bummed the Bandai dude will be so pricey.
Can ya invite Nik lloyd (lindybeige youtube) to play FoW with the crew, would like to hear Gerry and him talk history?
Thanks guys.
putting lindybeige and gerry together on the same space would blow my brain!! add big ben from 4ground and the internet will meltdown.
Happy Weekend guys 🙂 Getting ready for a weekend of gaming.
Going to hold off building my Clone Wars expansion until the Star Wars Legion weekend.
Obi Wan will be a TV series.
Warren, Have you watched the Mandalorian trailer?
Boba Fett isn’t a Mandalorian or a good yard stick. Lots of good Mando lore in Knights of the Old Republic.
https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Mandalore
@daegren sorry to say KOTOR is not classed as cannon from the story group and Disney POV, for mando history look at the animated series Clone Wars and Rebels as that was all part of George’s vision along with the fact that he was on set for the Mando Show. George gave his blessing to Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni in doing it.
Defiance is looking great!
Ewoks are awesome and I will bring an army of teddy bears with sticks to fight anyone who disagrees with me. An army of Ewoks is the only thing that would get me into Star Wars Legion, and remember there are still only 3 Star Wars movies, so I’ve no idea what you are talking about!
It’s the Weekend!!
Early enough to squeeze this in before a certain Rugby match begins…
Didn’t need your prompt to share this video, that was done within minutes of the start to the Infinity group in the club. Watching the rest is being constantly interrupted now by group chat!
Sorry Gerry, the Obi-Wan story is a Disney+ show, not a movie. A director for the series has been announced, someone that directed an episode or two of The Mandalorian.
Find out more here https://www.starwarsnewsnet.com/tag/kenobi
Work has begun on season 2 of The Mandalorian.
@lloyd – if you want more Vader in your life, there are a couple of comic runs, now available in trade paperback collection. The second series was very well regarded.
Also well spoken of is the book Dark Disciple (https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Dark_Disciple).
There is also a VR game called Vader Immortal – Episode II was recently released.
@warzan – For more on Thrawn, Timothy Zahn wrote a new trilogy that is in canon with his appearances in Rebels and at the New York ComicCon on this weekend a second trilogy was announced, to be entitled Thrawn: The Ascendency Trilogy, It is an origin story for Thrawn and the Chiss Ascendancy and will launch in May 2020.
Oops, got the book wrong, I meant “Lords of the Sith” (https://www.starwarsnewsnet.com/2015/04/lords-of-the-sith-review-all-quiet-on-the-ryloth-front.html)
And the Obi-Wan series is said to be set 8 years after “Revenge of the Sith”, so Luke would only be around 8 years old. not sure if this is before or after his appearance in Rebels.
@warzan for lots of Thrawn which Star Wars Rebels as Thrawn turns up as the lead villain for series 3 and 4 also Fett is not a Mandalorian he is a clone of Jango Fett grown normally.
Disney will not torch what they call legends (star wars pre purchase by disney) they only thing they are doing are picking the bits they know work and sorry to say the Yuuzhan Vong War wasn’t very popular it sold but it had people up in arms for some of the choices made.
@lloyd, @warzan, Gerry and Justin watch this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=to2SMng4u1k
Interesting version of the scene, but I think it makes Vader look more agile than his metallic body has allowed him to be in other lightsabre battles.
One of the story points that I have heard brought up for the Obi-Wan show, via Collider Videos, is a penultimate battle between Vader and Obi-Wan, where Ben is still the master and he tries to turn Anakin back to the light side one final time….
This I think is based on the line “Obi-Wan once though as you do”, which Vader delivers to Luke at some point. And that we haven’t seen Obi-Wan being told that Anakin and Vader are the same person, unless I missed it. Ahsoka finds out during Rebels, and Luke during Empire, But Ben…
@warzan and Gerry look at this as well https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jeG215-yu-k
spoilers!
haven’t watched all of rebels yet
😮
Watch Rebels Gerry
I think it’s really cool @grimwolfuk but we can probably lose the stamping on the robes part lol 🙂
Great show guys, massive fan of Infinity and looking forward to seeing Defiance succeed on Kickstarter!
Happy weekend!
So many things that interest me in this episode, can’t wait to watch it whole.
The miniatures from Journey Into Midblight are so quirky and lovable. Flying goblins. Brilliant idea.
Also very excited for the Star Wars Hobby Weekend. I’m more of a Star Trek fan, but beggars can’t be choosers, right?
The support and development they do for infinity is truly impressive. Plus those box sets always look good.
Great weekender guys. Very excited for both defiance and N4.
Eh. Dyson Sphere’s are a tricky proposition. Not that the GFFA doesn’t have history with these sorts of Celestial engineering projects – the whole Corellian star system (in addition to Corellia there’s the habitable planets of Selonia, Drall, and the twin planets of Tralus & Talus) being an artifical creation with the Centrepoint Station being an ancient, gigantic hyperspace wormhole generator…
I could see Kenobi being something more intimate – bear in mind when we leave him at the end of ROTS he’s just seen his entire Order wiped out, been betrayed by men he had spent years leading, seen one of his closest friends die, and was forced to leave his brother to die. To see him try and hide himself away and avoid drawing undue attention should be very interesting. And I’ve heard rumours that Joel Edgerton – who played Owen Lars in AOTC & ROTC – could be coming back as well. Seeing how those two fell out could prove interesting…..
And frag me, never thought I’d see someone pining for the Yuuzhong Vong. I mean I dug the New Jedi Order, but folks have been crapping on it for years. Also, I would love to see Disney making use of material from either the Legacy comic book series (set 130 years after ROTJ) or – OR – the Dawn of the Jedi series. Dawn was fantastic and had the Rakataan Eternal Empire as well as some genuinely interesting bits revolving around The Force, Light, Dark & Balance.
I do fancy some KOTOR/TOR-era storytelling though ?
Oh, and the question of can Darth Vader sustain a narrative on his own? Go read the two Vader comic book series by Kieron Gillen and Charles Soule respectively – Gillens deals with Vader in the aftermath of Yavin and his being the only survivor of the Death Star having to shoulder all the blame, infighting with other Imperial factions, and introduces us to three of the greatest characters to grace a Galaxy Far Far Away. Meanwhile Soules series goes the other way and we have Vader the broken man in the wake of his resurrection post-Mustafar, having to build his lightsabre and forge his mythos as the Emperors enforcer….
@avernos Star Trek (TOS) never said they didn’t know about Romulans – they didn’t know they looked like Vulcans. And it kindof ignores the start of the damn movie where Nero reveals himself to the bridgecrew of a starship. Sure the Old Spock stuff is a stretch but most everything else does make sense. And the JJ-verse films are no less lacking compared to the other Trek film. Controversial opinion – NONE of the Star Trek movies are particularly good examples of Trek, as a film has different requirements to television that Trek has always found it’s strengths in. The closest of the Trek films to episodes of the various series are The Motion Picture and Insurrection, and they are amongst the weakest films. And I like pretty much all the Star trek movies, but they generally succeed on different criteria to the shows.
Looking forward to seeing the let’s play for Defiance as I like Warren am wary of getting Infinity due to its rule volume and complexity.
Star Wars Hobyy Weekend sounds great. It will be interesting to see what’s available.
Obsidian Protocol is definitely in my wheelhouse as I am a huge mech fan. I, however, am not planning on in but hope to see it in the UK on the shelves at some point.
Looking forward to the XLBS as passion was evident in the Pointless Views segment earlier this week on the same subject.
It is great to see Carlos with his thick accent TM
🙂
looking forward to learn more about Defiance. Obsidian Protocol look interesting too
I like that Wildfire will have crossover cards with Defiance. Wonder if CB will do card packs for other Infinity minis?
Infinity Defiance looks very interesting. Will Corvus Belli be showing it off on Spiel in Essen?
I so much want to get into Infinity but the learning curve has always been an obstacle. Operation Icestorm is still waiting for a dedicated hobby weekend and a play through. Honestly though, I should remove Angel’s A to Z book out of sight and just get the minis battle-ready. (GW makes its mark yet again.) The concept of the Defiance KS already threw my hobby- budget into disarray, but is it that easy entry into the rich gameplay that is N3? I do hope you touch on that comparison in your upcoming coverage. Oh, and please, Corvus Belli, start the KS at a reasonable entry pledge level at below £100 so non-hardcore fans will jump on board as well. Cheers!
Oathsworn looks awesome!
And may the force be with everyone always, of course.
I don’t know if watching the weekender is such a good idea anymore.
Seeing all the new games coming out or going to kickstarter isn’t good for me.
Cost, space and especially the time is getting an issue.
Great show as always! Love the look of the new Infinity stuff!
Looks amazing, Some lovely models. Look forward to getting more information.
Defiance sounds like just the game I need to encourage my club members to play Infinity just like the D&D starter boxes did for that game.
Obsidian Protocol looks gorgeous.
Defiance is definitely looking interesting. Infinity just keeps picking up steam.
Love Infinity, definitelly would like to see more battle report of it on the channel!
Finally a KS of a known miniature game. This may just be what I needed to get in this universe.
The wildfire box looks so good and the only one im missing from the infinity big box starters.
I just love the minis and they all live in a feldherr bag currently!
Good morning everyone
Hold on, don’t have a brew yet. God, I’m getting old… Gerry, love your mug!
Infinity Defiance. Sounds nice. But nothing that really grips me… especially no infinity players in my region that I know…
Star Wars: Legion weekend. Yeah!
Star Forge is cool but what about that little star ship that could (destroy planets)? The “Sun Crusher” https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Sun_Crusher
Thrawn was not only in the books but also in Rebels and has his own ships in Armada and is part of Imperial Assault. He’s rather well known inside the SW Universe.
And on the subject of stories: the 501st in “Battlefront II” from 2005. That’s a story worth retelling in an movie IMHO. Here is a video that takes the cutscenes from the game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iWOq1Tg-Jdw
Guys… Star WARS weekend… not TREK! 😉
Obsidian Protocol: looks tempting but I just started Battletech and I really am running out of everything (time, money, space and energy) for yet another system.
Oathsworn: Way to big of a game to fit anywhere in my schedule… but the big ratmama looks like something for the display … or a gift for my mother in law… *g*
Journey Into Midblight: they look so nice… it would be a shame to just put them in my pile of shame… so I’ll pass on them.
ArcWorlde 2nd Edition: some nice sculpts but again: doesn’t tingle me.
No winner to be seen on the claim a prize. Or already gone?
Nice video as always.
The hurdles I face whenever I try to teach myself Infinty come down to 2 points:
1: Terrain. Not just owning the right amount of the right sized terrain (I have a lot of eadzone, but the floors are 3″ tall, which is a bit much for infinity), but understanding how to place it so it is fun and no one model can dominate the whole table by mistake. There’s a harsh learning curve there
2: Hacking. I feel like this is supposed to be as simple as casting spells in D&D, but its always seemed much harder to understand. I picked up Operation Icestorm assuming it would tach me every aspect of the game, but it never touched on hacking. Very dissapointing. I hope they find a way to smooth out learning these factors in N4.
On the subject of a possible Star Wars reboot I have some thoughts. Bear with me. I’m going to get to my point eventually.
Disney love owning iconic characters they can stick on merchandise and sell forever, or have people in costumes play them at theme parks, or that they can recycle in new mdeia for decades to come. Disney princesses stay suspiciously just underage forever. Mickey Mouse will never change. Even the Marvel characters are iconic because of their costumes and powers. The person inside could be replaced and people would accept that, especially now the multiverse is open.
With Star Wars, the characters are tied to the actors. Disney have started releasing famous scenes from Star Wars as short animations but maintaining the voices from the film. This is an attempt to establish the characters separate from the actors for a new generation so they can keep reusing the characters no matter how old or dead the actors become and no one will mind. They don’t just reboot it or reshoot it because they know they cannot, without there being riots, and without it being “not Star Wars”. They are trying to change the way we see the characters so they can make more content with the classic characters and people will accept it without thinking about it.
Now here comes my tin foil hat (With tin foil mouse ears). Disney have been perfecting their anti aging technology for a while now. They are even trying out CGI versions of dead actors in their movies to test the tech and test our reaction and acceptance of the tech. What if they have long term plans for this? What if when Warzan gets invited to appear in Star Wars 17 he has to sign a contract that says they own the rights to his face and voice and they can reuse it in any way shape or form for that character, and they can include him in the rest of that trilogy and he never needs to appear on set again and won’t get paid for future appearances. You know how they can get someone to record all the phonetic sounds and they can now use their voice for anything in SatNav? What if they do the visual equivalent of that, feed it in to a computer, and then an actor is never needed beyond that, or at least never needed after their first movie as that character is a success? We could have had young Harrison Ford in the Han Solo movie. We could still have Bogart, Hepburn, Charlie Chaplin etc all still making new movies. Franchises never need die or change just because an actor decides to stop, or has the cheek to age. Nothing could stop Disney from milking any character ever again.
As a side conspiracy, I suspect Disneys youthing tech has been in place for a while now and has been being used for many years without us knowing. How many celebrities out there do not appear to have aged when they should have by now? Paul Rudd is famous for this. He looks the same now as he did 20-30 years ago. What if Hollywood has been preserving its assets by faking their marketable looks and youth to us, even outside of movies?
This tin foil hat is getting in the way of my painting. It keeps clipping the lamp and giving me small electric shocks so I’m going to take it off, press play on your next video, and get back to work.
You know too much, the Men in Black Ears will be after you…
Really enjoyed the video….will be backing Defiance kickstarter
Good morning all, I agree with the point made on Star Wars needing to move on to new story lines. The franchise is in desparate need of new direction and good story writing. Fingers crossed that they figure this out at some point.
“Rogue One” is an excellent example of what can be done adjacent to the existing stories. It only contained characters we had seen before for about 15 minutes total, and a few of those minutes were the best screen time Darth Vader ever had.
Same for “Rebels”. While ostensibly a “kids show”, it told some great stories, and only tangentially crossed over with the main plot of the films.
Agreed!
There are just too many excellent kickstarters out there. It is difficult at the moment to choose what to back. Add to that expansions for games I already have and there is a seriius need for restraint and hard decisions when you are a gamer. And that is before you even start playing the games on the table!
A good weekend to all…
Defience looks great and being a rebounder (as carlos puts it) makes me excited for it coming to kickstarter..
Really liking the idea of Defiance and may have to relieve my wallet of the copper that’s weighing it down…don’t know why I’m lying, as if I’ve got spare cash I’m addicted to plastic
A Star Wars hobby weekend sounds like an excellent idea. I don’t think the wife would approve of me jetting off to Ireland to play with my toy soldiers though. At least, not without her…
🙂
Interesting stuff.
I’m really stoked for Defiance, my wallet less so. This Fall/Winter has way too many Kickstarters I want.
On Friday 13th, huh? The same day de Molay got caught and the Templars butchered? Is there a(nkh) connection? Oh yeah, and I really look forward to solo play Infinity!
I just don’t give a single crap about Star Wars anymore. It’s dead, and Disney murdered it. Fuck Disney.
Totally agree re the softer intro to infinity, I’ve heard of whole gaming communities who play with no hacking.
I like Star Wars and I like Star Trek but why does Battlestar Galactica miss out on all the love? That show and films have it all. Certainly has better space fights than the other 2.
Then you may (or may not) be happy to know that NBC are going to reboot it for their streaming video service….
That may only be available in the US, maybe Canada…. And whatever streaming services in other countries NBC signs a deal with – probably not going to be Netflix.
Happy weekend!
mmm… A stellar scale Death Star, try Gogeling Nicoll Dyson Laser, alternatively, in SW Legends there was Centerpoint station, a massive ancient space station powered by an artificial Micro-star and was capable of sending other stars supernova, or take it the other way the Sun Crusher a starfighter sized vessel also capable of killing stars and on to of that was functional immune to all other weapons, if memory serves, it ultimately took being dumped into a Black Hole to finally destroy it, suffice it to say, Star Wars (especially Legends) has NO shortage of Over The Top Superweapon concepts to play with for more stories.
Obsidian Protocole looks gorgeous, I think I may dive in on that one.
Great show Guys.
Gerry, James Cosmo was not in Auf Pet, You are thinking of the late Pat Roach.
New sculps for infinity are awesome. New terrain is nice addition also. Those mechs look awesome with the Obsidian Protocol game, just wish it wasn’t a Kickstarter thing. Already waiting on many other KS games that haven’t delivered yet.
Saying ‘the more we know about these characters the less interesting they are’ is pretty good evidence that the Star Wars movie franchise has suffered from bad writing and has gone down the toilet. I would reboot the entire thing and i would happily have the Vader story retold. If i were doing it i’d make the films certificate 15 or 18 if necessary and i’d have fans of the original wondering where the hell Luke is.
I might use Vader flashbacks as the way of telling his backstory, but the viewer wouldn’t be able to trust them entirely.
Hi Guys! Hey Carlos, if I get the Box I will offer it to my school. And hopefully conquer new gamers!
Even more for my wallet… this fall is going to be hard!
Hobby Weekend for Star Wars is in the fam cal!
I love the Infinity universe.
But I am like Warren. I don’t have the time to dive in as much as I would like.
I backed the Infinity role-playing game on Kickstarter as well. That is pretty complicated as well. Hope now if I back this Kickstarter I can start our gaming group out with Defiance and than start role-playing in the Infinity after that as well.
Very excited. 🙂
My need for Defiance is off the charts, I may have to cancel Christmas to jump on board.
Is your first name Oliver?
@robert, ?maybe it should be.
Throw out everything else you own to make way for 45mm Oathsworn (not that Oathsworn).
Given how bad and generic the story writing was in the Let’s Play OTT showed this week, you would be better looking for Fantasy Fighting fan-fiction than backing this kickstarter.
But i want miniatures that take up 1.5 times the amount of space of the miniatures that i have that take up 1.07 times the amount of space of the miniatures that i had that took up 1.12 times the amount of space of the miniatures i had before that, so that the Oathsworn (not that Oathsworn) miniatures are taking up 1.8 times the space of the miniatures i first had for the same type of game some 30 years ago, especially now that space is at more of a premium. Because detail(s).
I mean, come on, it’s this or Defiance.
I had to check to see if such a thing actually existed. It does. https://fightingfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/Return_of_the_Lizard_King .
Nice to see an inside into Defiance. It’s my most anticipated game of the year, can’t wait to see what’s to come? and the Infinity miniatures are a pleasure to paint also ? Have a nice weekend everybody.
The hype for Defiance is really building now.
As far as Starkiller goes, you guys may have been thinking of the character played by Sam Witwer in the now non-canonical video games series “Star Wars: The Force Unleashed”.
The base in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” was named after this character.
It was both the Starkiller character from the voice of Darth Maul Sam Witwer however that was taken from George’s first name for Luke. Luke was going to be called Luke Starkiller
Only one Darth Maul and that is Peter Serafinewiz… (spelling doubtless incorrect)
… and Ray Park?
Still a big fan of Infinity. All those choices, tactical decisions and awesome models 😀
Defiance…. so many new SF minis, sounds special
Looking forward to Infinity Defiance. Where this, or something else, were the basis for an Infinity lite system all the better. I fully appreciate there richness of the universe and rules system, it’s just too much of a full time job for casual play. We played through Icestorm and really enjoyed it, never went beyond it though.
Obsidian Protocol – on paper this looks fantastic and ticks so many boxes. Having true customisability, different modes of play, a wealth of factions and so much future potential. But there are red flags all over the Kickstarter. The project is going to big too quickly and there isn’t enough money there to do all this. They even say they have no experience in delivering a project of this complexity. Shipping is too low, no region friendly fulfilment etc.. If it ever reaches retail I’d be happy to buy in, as a Kickstarter it’s too risky for me.
I thought they had no shipping listed? I was sure they said I would be calculated based on pledges post Kickstarter.
You’re right about the expansion though they did point out if it’s not viable it would mean a reduction in contents in order to fulfil it.
Hopefully they have costed correctly and it all works out for them
I really enjoy painting and collecting Infinity. I bought the RPG as well. A great world.
Still a big fan of Initiy. Awesome models, tactical decisions and quite an active community around here 😀
It great to have Carlos back. I really missed the in depth coverage we used to get when Wildfire came out around Gencon. I realize that Killian has a life out there, but it would be great is he could return once and a while. Looking very much forward to Defiance.
@avernos are you sure about James Cosmo being in Auf Wiedersehen, Pet? I think you are getting him mixed up with Pat Roach…it has been that long since I watched it but I don’t remember him in it?
No clue. I seem to remember him being there. But it was a year or two ago. Someone call Jimmy Nail and ask
Jimmy said he was too busy polishing his crocodile shoes to come to the phone
Pat Roach was good in Willow
I’m defiant that I cannae wait for Defiance!
What a great giveaway!
I am so looking forward for CB’s Kickstarter!!
Love infinity! Love ontabletop!!
I have my money ready for Defisnce!!!
One frustration I often have with Mech-games (or similar small-squad fare) is that it boils the options for maneuvering way down. Still hoping for the Golden Game in the genre.
Really looking forward to the Corvus Belli Kickstarter..sounds awesome!
Very cool to hear about the two levels of N4 coming. That makes a ton of sense but I do worry that Infinity Advanced will be the standard and it still will make folks that want to stick with N4 One may have a hard time finding some games.
Also, for the Kickstarter for Defiance… Kickstarter Exclusive meaning it will not be available in retail ever?… that .. is.. disappointing… or when Carlos says “KS exclusive” does he just mean it is funding through KS exclusively and not through other funding options?
Another runaway success kickstarter to keep an eye out for is AMAZONS!, a beautiful collection of 3d printable warriors, terrain, and an amazing monsterous troll. Their later sketch concepts for stretch goals are incredible so I hope everyone can take a look!
As far as infinity goes, does this set do the same escalating of rules and scenarios as the early sets?
Another great weekender to brighten my Saturday morning while painting some minis. Thanks guys.
I’m with Gerry on the Avatar movie – no plot and bad writing can’t be saved with some overblown graphics. And remaking the original star wars saga would be sacrilege – but some greedy film exec who doesn’t even know who shot first may do it someday.
Defiance is my BIG WANT for this year! Can’t wait for it to release!
Ooh that looks amazing!
After much prevarication and toying with the *idea* of Infinity (after being both a fan of Aristeia and the Infinity rpg) in the last week I’ve finally finished painting Operation: Icestorm and got it on the table. Now both I and my son are hooked…
So, is Defiance going to be Star Wars Imperial Assault for the Human Sphere?
Guys. There is too many minis, don’t make me need to back obsidian protocol too.
Although those are fine Mechs…
Damnit
Infinity Defiance may be my first foray into the Infinity Universe. I can’t get into the base game (N3/N4) because the groups that play in my area far to competitive. I have seen half day long meta discussions between people who play. I do not have the time for that. However, if I can open the box and start playing within a few hours, that is what I am looking forward to seeing. Will be watching the KS. I am hoping the base price will not be too much.
Star trek had a Dyson sphere in the enterprise series.
TGIW! Can’t wait to get some great games in this weekend.
Happy weekend! I’m on the fence for Legion and, maybe, this new Clone Wars starters will push me over the edge, but simplified Infinity sounds sooo tempting. Always loved those minis, but the game sounded way too complicated.
Also, you guys are really disconnected from the Star Wars stuff, you need to start using twitter more
So I’ve switched to watching this on the website – not on the ‘tube!! 🙂
Am I the only person who thought a Dyson Sphere was a new type of vacuum cleaner and thought the title was making a joke?
The Oathsworn video is well worth watching just for the comic value alone.folks
Great report! Operation Wildfire just might be enough to get me into this game. I have been tempted for years but this terrain makes the game look even better!
Been dabbling in Infinity since Operation Ice Storm , which btw is an amazing starter set! Loving the idea of Defiance as a way in. See you all for the Star wars weekend!
Happy weekend everyone!
Defiance sounds like the perfect gateway to Infinity – it’s been on my radar for a while, but I’ve never been able to work out where to start (or convince any of my regular group to jump in, for that matter).
Also looking forward to seeing what quality metal minis look like these days – I haven’t really played with any since old GW stuff!
Disney can spike interest in Star Wars again if they make Timothy Zahn’s Thrawn trilogy into a new trilogy.
A great show guy’s the kickstarter’s look fabulous.
The ArcWorlde KS looks great. Played a few demos now, it’s such a good laugh. Can’t wait fot the Arcanid Queen to unlock on Weds.
Will be giving Oathsworn a look as well. Been tempted by Infinity a few times. Defiance could be the thing to pull me in.
So happy it’s the weekend, and what a great way to top it off with the Weekender. Can’t wait to check out the Infinity dungeon crawler.
Psyched for Defiance, been a while since I backed anything on KS but that’ll bring me back to old, bad habits for sure.
Been eyeing Infinity War for a while, and the kickstarter for Defiance is definitely going to have me looking at it. Of course it all depends on how quickly my wallet recovers from Obsidian Protocol.
Looking forward to backing Defiance. I’m big Infinity fan, but it’s hard to get people into the game. Hopefully this will serve as a good gateway. Worst case scenario, it’ll be good for the RPG.
Just played some infinity last night for the first time in a very long time. Def getting back into this game.
I love the Infinity Background and the Miniatures. I just cannot get into the game. My friends are opposed to the game play and I just have not been able to get them into it. I have, however, interested them in the RPG.
I cant wait for the kickstarter to go live!
Looks great!
Happy weekend boys! Getting ready to play some Star Wars Legion today. Let the dice roll!!!!
An Infinity dungeon crawler sounds amazing. I’m mildly concerned about the cost with it being a one-shot KS sale, but I may just bite anyway.
Star Wars Hobby Weekend… I’m not sure how I feel about that. Love Star Wars, but I’m not sure about Legion, but I may grab a virtual.
Infinity keeps going from strength to strength. Have a great weekend, guys!
I’m a huge infinity fan, but I don’t have any terrain for it yet. I like this new terrain, much sturdier looking than the previous cardboard buildings.
A weekend starting with Infinity is always a good weekend 😀
cant wait for the digital pass of the star wars(zan) weekend – have to take free at the work
they’ll need to wait for Lucus to be six foot under before they re-boot star wars
@warzan I know what ya mean, I’ve been very excited about Infinity but have been bouncing off as the learning curve seems far to big…. The models are awesome and the lets plays I’ve seen look fantastic I just be a “rebounder”. Hopefully the KS will open the world for me.
Always nice to see Carlos and the positive energy and passion for his game that he brings. I’ve always regretted not getting into Infinity but perhaps the new version will be the opportunity I was looking for.
I’m going to an Infinity tournament tomorrow and now I get a helping of Carlos on the Weekender 🙂 Looking forward to watching this properly.
I feel the same about Defiance: a much more accessible Infinity experience for someone who’s often run out of brain (i.e. me).
That Infinity Dungeon Crawler looks beautiful (no surprise there) and not too intimidating!! The Infinity line is so massive, it confuses me.
That Infinity has always looked good.!!
Excellent Weekender!!!
Star wars could just expand what the Star Wars Kids channel does and take the original voices and sync them with animation that just ups the intensity and set design. Just dont have old Obi-Wan flipping around, keep it like his final duel with Maul.
No snow on the Star Wars table at Christmas, I think you maybe missing a theme.
ohhhh new game sounds so nice another kickstarter aarrgghhh
i cant wait for defiance to come to kickstarter
Infinity models look so good i’ve just never pulled the trigger on the game because of the amount of other games ive bought and haven’t touched yet.
I am really looking forward to Infinity Defiance for much the same reason as Warren. I love the setting but Infinity is so complex it’s really hard to find the time to get to grips with it. One thing I would really like to see, perhaps as a kickstarter exclusive, is a miniature of the ship Defiance. It would not serve any game purpose but space ship models are cool
Thrawn would be a good choice for future Star Wars movies… the Thrawn Trilogy is one of the better ‘no longer canon’ series of novels from the expanded universe.
Heard a lot of great things about Infinity. Looks like it’s a good time to check it out for myself!
As a new Infinity player, it’s lovely to see defiance lower the bar of entry.
Keep it up CB!
Always wanted an excuse to start painting Infinity models.
Afraid I’m with Gerry on Avatar.
Don’t be afraid.
We’re the ones who are right after all
ArcWorld looks like a lot of fun. I will have to check it out!
I love when you guys talk about Infinity…would love to play the game. But alas with hobby costs these days, and the lack of players in my area it would be hard for me to get started….unless of course I were to somehow win a copy of a starter set or something…? Honestly I agree with @warzan, the world of the Infinity game and the miniatures are very attractive, but it seems too big to jump into as a new player…seems over whelming.
God damnit Justin that Star Wars idea is the RPG game I’ve been running for the last 20 years!!!!
Sad news @warzan : Friday 13th December is when Amazon drop Season 4 of The Expanse on us…..
1. Corvus Belli: Either fatherhood or Irish weather this time of the year must really work “well” for Carlos, can’t remember seeing him so gloomy like ever.
2. Star Wars: Pointless views on Saturday morning? That’s a new thing. I tend to not care about what Holywood big wigs plan, since I have completely no influence over their plans it would only be another source of frustration. All I can do is vote with my wallet, but that is more a post factum activity (or lack of activity).
The Defiance stuff really has me excited to find out more about it, and i totally agree with them.. the Infinity World is a bit difficult to navigate. Especially if you want all the lore and such.
Can’t wait to see what CB does with Infinity 4th edition. They should of twisted Carlos’ arm to see if he’d spill some more details ?
Great Weekender as usual and always love seeing some infinity updates. Keep up the great work guys
I was so excited when I heard about Defiance. I can’t wait for the Kickstarter!
First Infinity ITS this weekend ?
@warzan and @dignity Rather than touch the third rail of rebooting the “Holy Trilogy”, Disney is far more likely to do Live-Action remakes of The Clone Wars and Rebels.
I think that might be worth a watch.
I don’t know, I think if the Disney think tank tells their managers that a full reset will make money that it’s a dead cert…
Looked at Infinity a few times but never bought it. This might be the time to jump in.
Great show guys. They need to bring back ahsoka tano to star wars, or do a separate timeline series about her time away from the Jedi order.
Defiance is looking real good.
I’ve been saying no to Kickstarters for awhile now, but Defiance may tempt me. Hopefully it’ll be a late 2020 release. Much longer and I’ll run out of models to paint(!). Looking forward to the OTT coverage.
Also can’t wait for N4. Haven’t played a lot of Infinity this past year and am feeling a little behind with the new additions. N3 may be 5 years old, but with faqs and supplements, it’s a very different beast from release.
Best game in the whole universe.????
It would be fantastic to win such a set.
Happy weekend everyone, looking forward to playing some games. Bugger me I love this hobby.
Hi guys, I believe this has to be my favourite weekender episode this year. Infinity and Star Wars what’s not to like. I’ve looked at Infinity a lot over the last few years, but never took the leap. I think Defiance will finally get my wallet to cough up.
I think Infinity Defiance is a great idea. I would class myself as one of those rebounders. I love the idea of Infinity, it’s aesthetic, setting and miniatures. I also like that it’s deep. However the problem is I feel I would have to give everything else up to get into it. So I will be watching Defiance with interest. Co-op too, so that presumably means you can run it solo? I’ll be all over it if so!
I think I finally have found the perfect game to enter int the infinity universe. I have been trying to get into this game for almost 4 years, but up until now, it just felt a little overwhelming. Thanks for making this game!
Looking forward to the new infinit defiance.
Carlos was a great guest!
Looking forward to the lets play on defiance sounds interesting,i think i’m the only one who quite enjoyed the Han solo movie, story a bit weak but thought Alden Ehrenreich was a good choice.love the knights of the old republic 1 and 2 made into a film best star wars console games ever.
Star Wars could really go anywhere. I wouldn’t be surprised by a Dyson Sphere super mega death machine. Although by the same notion I wouldn’t be surprised if the movie starts with a sweeping shot of Coruscant, weaving through the vast metropolis, speeders and transports going every which way, aliens of all colours and shapes conversing, the spine tingling star wars theme music playing, but then something changes.
Slow at first, dread rises in the consciousness, given life with the low thrumming base from an oboe or cello. The sound grows louder and louder, the orchestral sounds almost unnoticeably morphing into an electric guitar riff. Then suddenly your thrust back to 1986 with just one word. “Transformers!!!!” Coruscant IS Unicron!
Its Star Wars the Michael Bay version, with the animated movie soundtrack.
With critics calling it: “Compared to this, global warming isn’t so bad. 10/10”
Happy Weekend! Defiance looking good!
Those “Obsidian Protocol” Mechs look stunning. Great quality all round.
I’ve just started getting into Infinity… really looking forward to Defiance and N4!
I am definitely looking forward to the Defiance kickstarter. I had no idea that the operation WildFire would be compatible with Defiance. I wonder if they might offer Defiance rules for other Infinity models in the future.
Finally a weekend with hobby time. Those new O-12 miniatures look amazing, i really like the look of their heavy armour and the lighter character will fit right in if used for shadowrun or cyberpunk red. Hoping the kickstarter goes well and their lore continues to grow
Really looking forward for this dungeon crawler!
Looking forward to the next releases from Corvus Belli. The star wars weekender sounds like a blast. Curious how the digital version is going to work.
Wow. An excellent show with multiple games that I like/follow/own. Can’t wait for Defiance kickstarter to see if I can get my hands on the Shas minis 🙂
Not played Infinity yet, but looks good
sad to say, in US of A bigger mean better so I WOULD NOT BE SURPRISED with bigger death star 4.
I love ikea PS light as death star btw.
Well, after a few weeks of utter mayhem, I can actually get back to a bit of hobby.
I’m liking the sound of Defiance a lot.
I also like the sound of a star wars hobby weekend. Depending on when it is so I know I’ll be able to contribute, that might be the one to get me to buy a digital ticket.
Having said that, I haven’t even finished the tank I started on the last hobby weekend yet, I really have had no time for gaming.
Great video guys.
Happy Sunday. Nice Infinity insight. Thx Carlos.
I don’t do many Kickstarters, but Defiance is definitely one I’ll be looking at. It might be able to pull my local (40k-centric) group of gamers into the Infinity universe. 🙂
Have a great weekend all!
Best Infinity starter box! But I already has 2 faction (3 sectorial), what I’m really excited is about Infinity Defiance! But I’m also waiting for the next 40k starter box and the long waited sisters of battle… we will see.
I cannot wait for Defiance we have a sports game, skirmish game, rpg and now a dungeon crawler. All depends on the price point though if I will be able to jump in. I hope it’s possible and not that 100 (guess) metal infinity models pushes this out of reach.
That new infinity box should help the box spread like something…
Here in the hope of winning a Wildfire…!
Just a thought on the defiance project from Corvus Belli. I am old school (nearly 50) and have no fear of working in metal, but although I love Infinity minis they are not beginner friendly in general. They are multi part metals with often tiny components and complex assemblies with very few instructions. If this isn’t going to be a massive barrier to defiance among the casual scene I would think Corvus should try and make the minis single piece as much as possible. This may limit the aesthetic but as I say I have veteran gamer friends who won’t play infinity because the minis drive them nuts.
From what I have seen these are not too bad. I asked for a set to put together myself on camera so we’ll see how that goes
CB just going strength to strength really. I hope N4 is a bit of a declutter of the already bloated rules. Not in a bad way, but there’s alot to remeber currently.
I’m really looking forward to Defiance
Interested about Defiance. Looking forward to seeing some more content on it. Always liked the look of infinity stuff but it was a bit bewildering to figure out how to get into it. I like the fact that Carlos realises this and N4 will have beginner level and full rules, which seems a lot better than just dumbing it down like warhammer, 40k, deadzone, etc did to make them more user-friendly.
I don’t play infinity, but I love the models. I’d definitely play Defiance, though!
At least the next Death Star will be reasonably easy to assemble, though there might be a few pieces missing.

Heading off to an infinity tournament in a couple weeks and hoping to play against a few O-12 forces
Wildfire looks intresting, would be nice to try.
Was on the fence about Obsidian Protocol but succumed to it as I love Mechs
Looking forward to new Infinity edition next year. I love all there starter boxes.
Settling down to catch up on the Infinity news…
My hype can’t be higher for defiance. Great boardGame for mecha lovers this obsidian protocol.
Really tempted by defiance….
Infinity Defiance sounds seriously interesting. Been on the periphery of Infinity for a while, love the look but struggle with the lore. This could be a winner for me!
Im with warren, this looks like a great way to get into infinity. Ive had my eye on that game for years
Looking forward to the Kickstarter, also just made sure my passport is ready for December.
Infinity is one of those games that is ridiculously popular but I just don’t click with. Maybe I just need to actually try it rather than looking from the sidelines.
Obsidian Protocol looks interesting, although I found skimming through their page a bit confusing. I think the add one are faction boosters but I could be wrong!
Love infinity… been hooked ever since I got the red veil starter a
An easy start into infinity will definitely be worth watching.
I quite like the look of the mech game, they always look interesting but I’m never sure wether to go for them or not and end up holding back, was very tempted by GKR from weta a while back but not sure anything’s played locally.
Infinity defiance is definitly going on to my shelf 😀
[Shake That (remix) by Glue70 Casin starts playing]
N-Three to the fourth from the fourth to N-three
I like good minis and I like good deals
Play so much ‘finity you wouldn’t believe
And I get more ELO than an IP finalist
N-Three to the fourth from the fourth to N-three
I met Carlos Bostria last night in OTT
Let me tell you why he gave this box to me
‘Cause I’ve got the WILDEST FIRE in me
#InfinityTheGame
Hope everyone had a good weekend and got lot’s of gaming in 😉
Loving the look of the new Defiance stuff, this might be the way I finally end up diving into the world of Infinity. Would love for there to be a Star Wars hobby weekend, is defiantly something I would save up my pennies for!
I don’t play Infinity but I will 100% be buying Wildfire, the models are great! Preferably on sale, my miniature backlog is getting embarrassing.
Here’s an idea for a Star Wars movie: Casablanca, set in the Mos Eisley Cantina.
Lots of star Wars comments about things I wasn’t aware of. Thanks for the show. That Infinity set would be a good house warming gift.
Well I have been wanting to try out Infinity…
The only thing that makes me a little hesitant on Defiance is that it uses different rules than base Infinity- I had hoped to use it as a way to ease some of my friends into Corvus’s main game.
(Still gonna have to get it, though. ?)
A weekender with Carlos is always exciting. Have fallen away from Infinity because my gaming friends have not kept up with it.. Rebound. Realky excited about the Kickstarter.
i’m with warren about infinity. love the look and style but just don’t have the time to invest into it as much as it would need.
also hope the newer infinity sculpts are easier to assembly as my gorilla sized hands made the few models i put together, 1 of the most frustratingly difficult things i’ve made.
Ok guys, you got me, now i am hyped for Defiance. 🙂
Thanks for another great show, Defiance sounds awesome good to see Carlos back in the studio.
It would be awesome to win Operation Wilfire, me and my wife are looking to start to play Infinity. I have my comment on the YouTube too to double my chances lol 🙂
Looking forward to information about how Defiance actually plays. The Minis look stellar, as all newer Infinity minis do.
I want to get into Infinity so much, I hope I’m not late for the Defiance KS.
“Defiance, one of the most significant games of the last few years”… goodness me, coming from you guys THAT IS A HUGE STATEMENT!!! 🙂 you really got me interested there!!
I am stoked for Defiance and also N4 to release. Until then I’ll have to satisfy my cravings by playing Aristeia! and learning Infinity.
The ArcWorlde troll models are just amazing!
I cannot wait for Defiance!
Star War
s or Star Trek..............For me its 50/50. I have always been a big fan of Star Trek from day one, and at 58 years old ive seen all of the episodes (new and old) at least three times or will have once i have finished blitzing Voyager. Then its on to Star Wars from the beginning again (not sure but i think im in two double figures now), quite a few people will think im nuts and i possible am and i dont care. We all have our own things we like to do or watch over and over, so are we not all nuts to a degree.Nice to see Carlos back with you guys………Infinity have a wide range of mini
s, with no two looking alike which is one of the main reasons i like Corvus Belli. With them you can collect what ever size force you want and not have any doubles at all, unless you wish to have them. Im a fringe collector, and i have never played a game to date. Not because i dont want to, but because where i live everybodys a lot more in to 40k (which i play) or those sodding card games (which i do not).Good luck with the Star
s weekender guys, won`t be attending as that weekends been fully booked up in work. One last thing to do with Star Wars, instead of thinking along the lines of “BIG ASS” Ball Space stations why not have a “BIG ASS” planet killing Star Ship.Always good to see some Infinity, those shasvasti look wonderful.
This pack is so good,it would be a dream to win it
Really looking forward to learning more about Defiance!
I’m really hoping that Infinity Defiance will be a solid game on its own. It would be nice if they would make it board game friendly and include plastic minis instead of metal. They can always make the metal minis an add on in the pledge manager for the kickstarter campaign. Assembled plastic minis will lower the barrier of entry and allow Corvus Belli to reach a much broader section of the available gaming market. It would also save money on shipping for backers since the plastic minis will weigh less. I really want this game to succeed. I hope that the rules are solid, that there is a good story driven campaign to play through, and that we get quality components including pre-assembled plastic minis.
I love me some infinity.. but still not a fan of metal. I blame GW for that one. Once I went resin/plastic, I could never go back.
But oh so many amazing Infitiy models….. sigh…
Woop Ewoks!
The Infinity Defiance stuff looks really exciting. I agree with what was said that it can be daunting jumping in now as there’s A LOT of stuff to take on. I played a handful of games maybe 6 years ago and really enjoyed it, but after being a way from it for so long it’s a bit intimidating looking from the outside in. Defiance might be just the thing I need.
Corvus Belli creates some spectacular minis, a nice dungeon coop would be excellent!
hmm always like the look of Infinity
Infinity models are always amazing! Love the look of them.
A box of this awesome game will be sooooo nice.
Defiance looks pretty cool!
great show guys, would love to win that prize
Oooh, Defiance! Wildfire! Cant wait to try it out!
Defiance looks good, it may get me back into Infinity after all this time.
The terrain and tokens improved dramatically for wildfire. And It’s always good to see more news about defiance!
A great show it was packed with a lot of content.
i am dying to get my hands on Defiance… the game looks awesome
i am all in oathsworn!! amazing game
Defiance looks really nice.
I spent the weekend working but have enjoyed listening to Carlos talk Defiance and N4 while relaxing at home this Monday morning.
Ready for Defiance
Wildfire and Defiance are both looking good and tempting. Obsidian Protocol does look gorgeous and I loved the Armored Core games; but I am lacking funds right now.
i miss Infinity SO MUCH, still have my original TOHA crew. i need to get back to it.
Well, as I usually dig thru the Infinity forum, some of the info was known to me, but Infinity Code 1 and especially the thing that not only Shas, but also 0-12 will be widely present within Defiance box is very intriguing… What else? Some Exrah units maybe? 😉
Looking forward so much to Defiance
Infinity has the coolest miniatures. I hope Defiance winds up being a good pickup. Not too sure if I will like the RNG aspect.
O12 are some sweet looking minis. Though I need to get through painting all my Pano before Defiance KS starts 🙁
I am happy to see CB coming out with another edition to the Infinity Universe! I hope it’s the most successful kickstarter to date.
One, I love dungeon crawlers. Two, the expansion of the lore for Defiance has me really really excited about this one.
Defiance is so exciting! Really like the dice system in aristiea and look forward to seeing how it works in defiance.
Really loving the look of the new terrain in the Operation Wildfire set. I’ve got the ColdFront starter and really wasn’t super keen on the terrain in that set. Op Wild looks like a step in the right direction, especially with the success of companies like BattleSystem and their Core Space terrain.
I need to get a few Infinity gaming buddies…..
Hi
Always a pleasure to visit this site .The videos are professional and detailed with a great variety of game systems and companies .And the giveaways are awesome and true.
Thank you for that guys
I’m still looking to join my hobbies, minis & SW. not Legion allowed.
that’s defiance added to tower of the elephant as my kickstarter wants.
Eager to see the new SW episode – hope it’s not the last as they say.
Looking forward to Defiance!
How do you guys normally announce winners for these prizes?
Super excited to see what CB does with N4.
Looks good!
So I was planning on getting into Infinity early next year, but with N4 on the horizon I think I’ll wait until later next year.
Defiance sounds really interesting as well. Although I recently bought the books for the Infinity Roleplaying game and hope to be playing that soon.
So, any experience on the just how different a Oathsworn chapter is second time around. The campaign is getting me excited but I wonder about the replay values for something that kind of plays it’s hand early on. Wondering about the potential amount of gaming for the investment in it.
Another great Weekender and the miniatures from the game Obsidian Protocol are really cool looking
Soooo looking forward to Defiance. Models look great and excited to more gameplay/rules. Hard to get in a game of Infinity in my area so hoping Defiance can pull in some new people and get things going again. Wildfire looks amazing and would love to add it to the Infinity collection.
Great chat w/ Carlos and CB. Really glad to hear about Defiance’s accessibility and the new ‘core one’ version of N4. I love the Infinity setting, mechanics and minis but don’t have the time to grapple w/ the full, detailed rules. Plus, most of my gaming group prefers co-op mechanics. I’m hopeful these new releases will help get us all into Infinity!
excelent news block! & cool to see such guests as Bostria!
I’m definitely in the ‘Infinity looks interesting and I’ve bought a few miniatures but I’m never going to have the time to get into the game’ camp. Interested to learn more about Defiance.
this is great news I have been painting up operation red lotus and there a fella at are local hobby shop has got the first one ice storm and we about to learn how to play. So this weekender has been great but then again every weekender are great. Only one question should we wait for N4 to drop or what? And a STAR WARS boot camp that could be really cool but so close to Christmas might make it a no go but going to try.
I feel like I have too many unpainted minis these days but Infinity it keeps tempting me- the optimistic sci-fi, the model quality, the pre-made terrain, the interesting setting- Agh! I’m going to end up buying in I can tell, to say nothing of the kickstarter.
Happy tuesday! Yeah, i know, i’m very late to the party, i had a very busy weekend…
Good to see Carlos! I will be checking the Defiance KS for sure and it’s good to know about N4 and it’s difficulty levels! Bought “Red Veil”, assemble most of the minis but, still very intimidated by the thick rule books! Playing multiple gaming systems is part of the reason for that…
Still have a lot to catch up, see you guys around!
A Star Wars hobby weekend would be one that I would love to be a part of. With the release of Star Wars Legion’s Clone War expansions and 2-player starter, now is the perfect time!
Now, if you guys decided to do a Crisis Protocol hobby weekend as well…
Cant wait for a fully supported code01 basic Infinity – as a newbie I struggle to motivate myself into starting trying to learn to play with my haqqislam and yu-jing armies, as the rules seem sooo off putting, but a basic ruleset, but fully supported sounds amazing for me.
Always a good show when Carlos shows up! Defiance sounds great!
But will the new stars wars movie be good? I think it’ll be all ‘member berries….
Remember the emperor? Oh yeah I ‘member!
Go spend your cinema money on joker, which deserves it more. 🙂
These are great news, especially about N4 ! I love it !
Cannot wait for Infinity Defiance!!
Great vid for the weekend as always! Thank u so much for the Vlogs!
Win wildfire ? Wouldn’t that mean a whole host of ? not to mention rules and head scratching oh go on then
I keep meaning to check out Infinity, maybe this is my chance!
Great show always enjoy Carlos on the screen. Probably a kickstarter I will back depending on the initial price.
Loved that interview with Carlos, made me even more excited for Defiance! I also really liked the sneak peek at some of the N4 changes, it sounds really interesting and a great way to ease in new players. Can’t wait to hear more as we get closer to the start of the kickstarter campaign!
Thanks a lot for another great Weekender. Really made my day.
Plus, I would absolutely love to get my hands on that Defiance game.
Oh,and Operation Wildfire too ?
Honestly, my wallet can’t handle much more Infinity stuff…
Great news about Kickstarter projects.
What’s next?
Looking forward for Defiance, I am a JSA and now Combined Army player, and I am thrilled by the new models!
Hoping I can resist going crazy on defiance in the run up to xmas (ha!).
Code 1 sounds very interesting too, got a rough idea of infinity but a more streamlined simplified version should hopefully see more table time in the game rotation.
Can’t wait for Infinity Defiance!
