The Raging Heroes Light & Darkness Kickstarter Launches & Funds!
March 25, 2015 by brennon
The Raging Heroes Kickstarter has gone incredibly well with only an hour under their belt. The main target goal has been smashed and they have plenty more stretch goals on the horizon to break apart as they fund the Light & Darkness armies...
Sci-Fi
On the Sci-Fi side of things they have the Sisters of Eternal Mercy, Void Elves and the Lust Elves which you can see below with some of their hero and troop options...
You have some very inventive looking units that certainly draw on the look and feel of armies that we all might be quite familiar with like the Sisters of Battle and Dark Eldar from Warhammer 40,000. I really do like the look of the Sisters of Eternal Mercy as they have got that really awesome gothic look to them and I reckon they'd be amazing to paint up.
I at one time wanted to run a Sisters of Battle army and I could see this being a good opportunity to do so when this hits retail in the future.
Fantasy
With Fantasy they have kept with the same themes but replaced all the guns. Instead you now have the Sisters of the Orphanage, Dark Elves and (still) the Lust Elves...
Once again you have some interesting options for your Fantasy armies here too. I think they've certainly pushed the boat out when it comes to all of these factions and the artwork is very ambitious. From the miniatures we've seen via the last Kickstarter they can certainly meet this kind of detail but some of the big monstrous kits will be something new for Raging Heroes.
The Sisters of the Orphanage are my favourites once again. I love that 'Holy Warrior' look in any game and I think that hammer wielding nuns is a good road to go down.
You can see more of each army on their Kickstarter page.
3D Renders
It's not just artwork that Raging Heroes have got for their campaign though as they have worked on some renders for the upcoming miniatures in the game already...
The Harpies have turned out nicely in the digital realm and Santa Dolores is another pretty special model that must look dominating on the tabletop when she's all painted up and ready to go.
A Game Too?
To round things off Raging Heroes have also promised a game for you to use these miniatures with. It isn't ready right now but they have said they are working on it in the background. According to their Kickstarter page it is cinematic, scaleable, full of mechanics not usually associated with wargaming and make you feel like you're in an action packed adventure from a handful of models to a full on army.
We shall have to see on that but for now it's going insanely well for them on Kickstarter.
What do you think of what you can see so far?

This is one range I like the look of but just wished there were more dudes.
I love everything.
The Grand Seraphim and all the wonderfull weird, twisted and sexy Lust Elves!
Wow! Now that is very, very nice. Pocket money day tomorrow…
Those look amazing.
Wow, quite surprised, that there are so many artworks only…I was thinking they can show much more final renders…….
With this huge and wild collection of artworks a year for a fullfillment is far to short calculated….
When they keep their focus on the qualitly like with the miniatures of the the first KS than 2 years like their first KS is more realisitc
Raging Heroes arts and sculpts get weirder with every kickstarter they run. Not that it is necessary a bad thing, but the centaur troops are a bit too much for me (coming for a guy who supported Kingdom Death. Sigh…)
Some incredible artwork as always, I just hope the miniatures will live up to them.
The minis from the last kickstarter have, so far been as good as, if not better then the concept art.
This is a sad day for the gaming community was proved highly irresponsible and immature…
@makis – you need to elaborate on that statement?
Are we immature because we like miniatures of women to actually look good?
No, of course not, as long as it was from a decent manufacturer. Some people can give me all their thumbs down they like, lol, still doesn’t conceal the fact this is a bunch of people who lied to their backers consistently yet people are immature, choose to ignore and still support them. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. People are happy?! their freebies arrived? Let me get this straight, you are happy miniatures that were included in your pledge you paid for 2 years ago have finally reached you? What are you, stupid or something?!
Wonder why they chose to mail these now when they are still so far behind from fulfilling their TTG1. Ah, right! People would be happy…
Sad to see fake 10K stretch goals for 1 single mini when other manufacturers ask for a couple of grant in order to deliver minis of the same size, quality and material. It’s something other KS creators do as well but usually it’s for freebie plastic board game minis and not paid add-ons! And still doesn’t justify it, it’s dishonest and penalizing to any creator who still hasn’t launched! Great example you’re setting TTG backer, way to go! (Enter sarcasm here)
These guys didn’t even need a second KS, they got 700K$ ffs, this is not what KS is about!
Bottom line; Some of their minis are nice, but that doesn’t justify them getting any more money., especially after the way they have acted.
Backers should be more responsible IMO. That’s why I said its a sad day for gaming and KS…
You have a few good points, especially about the 10k stretch goals. Other KSers from lesser known companies will unlock minis with 2k or less stretch goals. And they are not lesser minis by any means. And in this KS, they got sci-fi and fantasy versions of the same mini, both costing 10k each to unlock… Like, yeah they will have small differences, but give me a break. My intelligence feels insulted.
Still, I’m backing them, because heh, the minis are worth it :-p
Coincidently (or maybe not so coincidently) on the day this launched, I received a small package in the post containing al of the freebies from their first kickstarter. I have to say that the quality is great and the miniatures are just beautiful. I’d happily back this one two but I’m still on the fence about whether I actually need these particular miniatures. If I can think of a reason to use these sculpts in 30k then I’ll be backing. Perhaps the Lust Elves could be used as alternative daemonettes in an Emperor’s Children strike team?
In 30K, hmmmm yes they might have limited use in that era.
Maybe some of the sisters can be used as sisters of silence, once the Prospero book is out.
The Avatar of Shaah might do as a Keeper of Secrets og a deamon princess, depending on its size. Otherwise the fantasy worm riders could be used as Fiends of Slaneesh perhaps.
A mixture of Mantis Warriors and Death Dancers would make some awesome looking deamonettes.
Lacking men. Skipping.
Also the fact they coward from answering/interacting at the comment section with that ridiculous excuse??? That’s another first for KS, please let me know if you’ve seen this anywhere else, I for sure haven’t!
@makis – they never lied to their backers. Once it became clear that the ahipping dealine would be delayed, people where given the option of settling for shipoing in waves, some chose not too. And the reasons the kickstarter is delayed, is because Raging Heroes are anal when it comes to their sculpts and delivering a stunning miniature. They have been communicating often during the wait for the minis, something other companies seem to fail at.
As to their reasons for not answering the Kickstarter chat, i can respect that. With 400+ comments in the first day alone, it would have meant that several employees would do nothing else. And frankly i would rather them paying for more designers and sculptors.
They are also extremely open about the chance that some of the minis in this kickstarter might go on general sale before some backers get their models, if they choose to wait untill everything is done.
As for them not needing the money?? Apparently you have little to no idea about how much money it costs to design such a large model line all at once. Sure they could have released a few models a month for 5+ years before the range was complete. But since they have a vision and a desire to do a game, that would have been very counter productive.
As for the “fake” strecth goals, i kinda agree with you. Stretch goals isn’t the term i would have used, unlocking would have been better.
You are apparently a very angry and bitter person, and i would like to know if you backed the first kickstarter they did, and if that is he reason for you anger?
Unfortunately yes, 2 years ago and I have regretted. I have been following this much closer than you, so let me correct you in some points.
They have lied on items being shipped, they have lied on items being in stock, they have lied about the estimated delivery time (yeah, I know, it’s Kickstarter, who cares right?), they have lied about what each wave includes, they lied lied lied again and again, many times they have been called on and admitted! Others say:
“Hey, it’s Raging Heroes, give them all the time in the world!”
No. It doesn’t and shouldn’t work like that. Creators must be responsible before handing out their hand asking for money.
Communication? You are joking right? Mantic is many times their size and they still monitor comments just fine, heck, even CMoN does! They got 400 comments? Go check Myth, lol! Almost 26000 now and climbing.
As for the TTG1… No comments, one mile long update every three months… Horrible even here.
Needing money. Is that something new? EVERYONE needs money, it’s just a matter of handling it right. If they can’t chew on it, maybe they shouldn’t be so greedy and ask for less, deliver, then ask for more. Look at what troubles AoW is because of their Dwarf project. It practically ruined them. Or Kingdom Death. (But at least these guys are honest and I really think they care to deliver, something RH obviously doesn’t since I have still not seen a single mini!)
I’m not angry, I think frustrated is the right term. I like KS and what it can do for small honest companies. And this is far from honest. Like VERY far…
It sounds to me like you should contact them directly.
I understand we have a language barrier here, but the way you construct your posts is not great. (To much ranting and accusations)
Others are getting their stuff and loving it, therefor this is likely as much about you as it is them 🙂
Go and contact them and sort out your differences, rather than publicly spreading bile and trying to derail their plans.
I tried doing so politely many times. They never answered me.
I recommend trying again. 🙂
Backed the last kickstarter and just recently received minis which look great!
Backing this one and I imagine the figures will be awesome again. I have said many times before if you can’t handle waiting a long time for pledges to be fulfilled, not seeing all the stretch goals/unlocks being obtained, or potentially even losing your money, then why are you backing a kickstarter? That is like getting angry about not winning at Blackjack… well you have to be crazy to gamble and think you will always win. 😀
Seriously, back this if you want some cool minis but go in with eyes open that it is a kickstarter, 99% likely to be fulfilled, but could take one hell of a time to get to you, and then you will be happy when those amazing minis turn up on your doorstep like a long forgotten lost Christmas present!
I backed the last kickstrasrter and wanted the cheapest shipping option, it was shipping to the other side of the world after all. I am a little disappointed in the delays some of them were out of Raging Heroes hands but others were introduced solely by Raging Heroes like sending back miniatures for re-sculpting for minor changes. I understand they wanted everything to be perfect, but I just wanted my minis. I have been impressed with pictures I have seen on line of there’re peoples minis and am sure I will enjoy mine however late they are. I stayed up to 1:00am to get some early bird specials but in the 30seconds it took me to lodge my pledge they were all gone. I would have liked some plastic sisters of battle but I decide to cancel my pledge.
It is strange that they aren’t using kick-starter for its strongest feature. To communicate with the backers, and give them exactly want they want. Adjusting the sculpts and stretch goals to better please the backers. Its like they went into this kick-starter with a plan to produce exactly the miniatures they were going to make and the only interaction they wanted from the backers was the opening of wallets.
But they do make some very lovely miniatures
