It’s the XLBS Show………….Happy Sunday Fellow CoGs!
No READY Brek over here in America. Just old-fashioned Oatmeal with some brown sugar and maple syrup if you were lucky.
I remember Earth Girls are Easy! But my favorite was Jeff in ‘The FLY’.
I remember the ‘World Of Darkness!’ TV show. Around here, even though it was bad, it did get a lot of folks to live action RPG ‘Vampire: The Masquerade’.
Nice work on your ‘Cursed City’ minis @brennon I’ve not started mine yet. Been reading the HB book first. I’m hoping to find the mini parts to put together the 9th Hero whose stat card is in the back of the book.
@avernos I have been using Pledge for years now on models and minis. I heard a while back that the UK made Pledge changed its formula to continue being distributed over there. Some modelers over there have been having friends over here in the USA send them the real stuff. Glad you have some that work for you!
I’m glad @lloyd was wearing paints this week! The crew is tricky getting you to get up to wander around your hobby room.
I’m wondering if @lloyd bought those GIANT Clippers just so he can go visit big bro. You know, to get past those massive gates that keep the riffraff out of his country villa. 🙂
Well done to all the GOLDEN BUTTON Winners! Very nice work folks.
Quick Question….Well, the https://www.beastsofwar.com/meet-the-team/ section of the website get updated? @avernos Is still not on there and now @fcostin needs to be added!
Or have they not completed all the sections of the Employees handbook yet and so can’t be added officially to that page of the web?
Be careful OTT, Gerry has mad TECH skills now, a wizard at the keyboard he is. He may just add himself to the top of that page if he wants! 🙂
Dude, you have to be quicker than me. I am first…and 80’s TV shows were just awesome…..but not in a good way.
avernos, Gerry is an employees of OTT and therefore not allowed to be first. I am not an employee and am first. Even those ahead of me are not first. I AM FIRST. additional, I was commenting about 4 weeks go that fre should be included in the intro….in that respects, as in all, I was and am First.
yay, first
Hey man, you did it again, first. You the man. you first.
First even to reply to my reply on being first. Truly awesome individual I am, a first you could say.
Happy Sunday Chaps,
Gosh @tacticalgeniuos you were quick off the mark today!
i am first, really fast but first nonetheless. Others may come before me but i am still the one and only, first.
Happy Sunday!
I’d quite happily forgotten about that movie Earth girls are easy
Happy Sunday!
Thanks for giving me a Golden Button Chaps, I realy am flattered, and I won’t lie, it has really made my day!
@avernos Kindred the embraced is from 1996 and was supposed to be a full 22 episodes, however, was cancelled after 8 because of ratings it was from spelling television (90210) it was shown on Fox and at the time they would cancel anything that wasn’t making ratings. The lead actor Mark Frankel who played the Venture was killed in a motorcycle accident in the September of 96.
@lloyd Sleepy Hollows all four seasons is on Disney Plus
@avernos I stuck a quick size comparison picture between Drabant and Footsore on one of my projects (https://www.beastsofwar.com/project-entry/1632538/). They are pretty comparable, Drabant being slightly bigger.
cheers, not that I need any…but you never know 😉
I think we all know that ‘need’ often has nothing to do with what we buy… 😉
In this episode we came for hobby… we stayed for Lloyd’s Lloyd shot
Happy Sunday all ?
I used 6mm, 0.4g airsoft BBs as agitators, I found that the paint started to… stick… I’ll go with stick to them. but at least I never had them clogging nozzles.
Yay guy’s the XLBS show?
Was that not the devil’s dandruff @lloyd ?
Jeff he’s finding new power since becoming part Fly Lol.
Happy Sunday everyone. Strangely enough Earth Girls Are Easy was on one of the Freeview channels last week. Glad to see that Free has joined the “I can buy them faster than I can paint them” section of the hobby.
I hope someone there is collecting clips of Free talking about her growing collection for a supercut later:
Week 1: I’ve bought a Malifaux starter force to try painting minis
Week 3: I bought this box to put all my hobby stuff in but now it doesn’t all fit. look at this new mini I bought
Week 5: I’ve realised I’m buying as fast as I’m painting. I may have a problem. I won’t be buying new paint.
Future 1: I’ve bought a few extra paints and picked up a new faction for Malifaux doublix the amount of naked plastic on my shelf
Future 2: Have you tried these 2 new paint ranges? I bought in to this new wargame with a 2 player starter set and some extras, and backed this big box KS with 100+ minis
Future 3: Send help! I’m burried under an avalance of bare plastic! How did this happen?
Future 4: Calm acceptance that this is the way of all gamers, with her nice calm bedroom wall backdrop replaced by a full hobbyist workshop
A 2 minute video that shows the path we all take and shows that it’s ok
Well done @intelligentmistertoad, looking forward to seeing a battle across the remnants of Stalingrad.
Cheers, it’s definitely one of those, if your going to go for it, go for it 100% projects. Just finished quite a bit more, and I will be updating the project fairly regularly as more gets finished.
I can’t wait to do the “Mega Battle” and now a decent chunk of the ‘remnants’ and protagonists are done!
Lol Lloyd an his love of bead’s?
I think it’s some kind of relationship test. If we can endure Kindred the Embraced, we can endure anything 😀 Just come at me world, I’ve lived through 4 (FOUR!) episodes of Kindred, and I have not tried to drown myself in the toilet….yet….
@fcostin I love purple too. It’s the bestest colour <3 And I love your idea of mixing your own grades of it, instead of 'just' buying different shades. You learn so much. Please feel free to ignore what I am saying now, it's your minies, you should do it your style. But I would suggest not using white to lighten up the purple. It very quickly gets a 'chalky' look to it, simply due to the pigments used to make white paint. A very light cream, like a Titan Buff or really any kind og broken white (like eggshell whites or ivory) will give you a much better result and help you keep the warmth in the purple colour. Same goes with shading it down. I'd try and stay away from 'pure' black (knowing that the blacks we use really arent pure ;)). Use a very dark brown, or if you want a cool shade instead (which I think would work awesomely well with a warm highlight), use a very very dark-almost-black blue instead.
Yesss isn’t it!? Maybe Lloyd is right, when you love purple, you LOVE purple hehe.
Thank you! I actually really appreciate it! The concept of some colours is so hard for me to fathom. I’ll be picking up a cream 🙂
Yeah, purple really seems to be an either/or colour. Maybe because it’s a colour that doesn’t really ‘exist’ (said with a grain of salt, cause obviously we see it 😀 ). But it’s really an interesting thing that happens in our brains, more than an actual colour: https://www.grantsonnex.com/why-purple-doesnt-exist/
I love colour theory, and it helped me a lot with mixing my own colours. But it is a beast for sure. I know art students who never fully grasped the subject. And it’s so much more than just complimentary colours. I could go on for hours about colours, boring everyone within ear shot 😀 But here’s a happy Italian dude in Dublin talking a bit about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWojUQsVoKk And my very favourite Kujo has made a video on mixing skintones that really took my mixing skills to the next level: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NhP-reEFXe8
If you ever feel the need to talk colours (or just purple 😀 ) I’m happy to be of service.
Happy Sunday!
@brennon, if you are after a good, current day supernatural series, can I suggest “Wellington Paranormal”?
It is a spin-off from the movie “What We Do In The Shadows”, and stars two of the cops that appeared in said mockumentary. It is a mockumentary itself, with the standard Kiwi deadpan humour.
Details of where to watch:
UK – see https://www.higgypop.com/news/where-to-watch-wellington-paranormal-in-the-uk/
US – The CW starting July 11 and HBOMax later
Oz (SBS) and NZ (TVNZ) have had it for a good 2-3 years. There are 3 seasons of 6 episodes plus a Christmas special.
They even did a colab with the NZ Police at the start of lockdown last year. Those webisodes are available on the NZ Police YouTube Channel.

Nice one Gerry…… to my shame I actually own Kindred the Embraced on DVD……. It’s so bad it’s good ?
so bad it’s bad 😉
fixed that for you matey
A fabulous funny show guy’s love the work on your figures.
Happy Sunday.
It’s amazing to receive a golden button, thanks. I’m going to post an update later today with some Purge models, smoother painting on the bases and a surprise for Gerry.
I agree about the editing of The Witcher show. I’ve read all of the books and it took me several episodes figure out where they were going. It was a really weird choice.
This episode was not brought to you by Kellogs!
Happy Sunday COGS, Dont forget to love your mother and watch the Greatest Movie Ever Made.
Was not expecting actual Lloyd shots of Lloyd!
I have the Kindred on A DVD somewhere. I recall liking it at the time, but my tastes are circumspect at best.
Earth Girls are easy is a classic!!!!! You guys gotta watch it> Cheers from The Bay Area
Well done @jamescutts on the Golden Button mate
Thanks @panzerkaput, and the OTT Team.
All of the awesome projects that we see everyweekend are what keep me inspired to carry on posting project updates.

regarding the pigment powders, funnily enough, i saw this question asked on a facebook group earlier this week, can’t find the post now, but i believe somebody said that the forgeworld ones were re-packaged Mig Pigments so that may be a place to start looking
Do we have a second type of @lloyd shot? The inception shot.
I hope not as I am getting confused with all these shots.
Happy Sunday, our the Ready Brek adverts i was one of those kids…
Happy Sunday! Great work @brennon! I think the fur turned out great. Congrats to all the GOLDEN BUTTON Winners! Very nice work folks.
Well, what can I say. Something nice? Nah… something true is better:
Kindered the Embrace was as bad as was VAMPIRE The Masquerade once the RPG became popular and ‘in’. I owned one of the first books that made it to Europe when it was first released, you know – back when you had a lot of blanks to fill with your own ideas and imagination, and when the game still was horror. Then it became more and more like fucking high-school cliques with longer canines, the most inane vampires ever, and the setting was soon a complete joke when they started their proto-Q-inane bullshit where every incident in human history was the result of some nitwit vampire conspiracy. I don’t see how this was any better than a mediocre TV-show…
Well – Vampire The Masquerade killed vampires for me way before that TV-show, and the only vampires I can stand or even enjoy are those fucking badasses in Near Dark.
Lloyd, where did you get that hobby box? That seems like a good deal…
Hey @dolgath
I got the set here:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0817GBXY8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Haven’t had a chance to test out the quality of the items yet, but you do get a lot.
Happy Sunday – Coming to you from wednesday….
@lloyd making his own holes to play with – that’s a step up (or is it down?) from the “Lloyd shot”!
Congrats to the Golden button winners.
@brennon – the colours on those Core Space minis seem to be the colours from the game. They do seem to tie together well despite not having a truly cohesive colour.
They need to stop trying to make Dungeons & Dragons films/shows. Dungeon’s & Dragons is a mechanical system that by design, actually has very little solid lore about it.
What they should be doing is looking to make stories within the well written worlds that have come out of D&D: like the Sword Coast, Ebberon, Strahd or Dark Sun (add your own favourites as you please). These are well fleshed out worlds you could create a narrative in rather the generic hero’s journey but the bad guys in make up are called “Orcs”, someone will cast fireball at some point and there will be a Dragon at some point.
That doesn’t make a good story, that makes a story we’ve seen so many times before with a thin veneer of new paint.
Mythica is a good example: it sets out to build a fantasy world, takes the time to introduce how said world works and how each character/faction we meet in it works and uses those to drive the narrative forward.
Yeah, it’s made on a show string budget and is kind of cheesy but there’s actually an engaging story in there.
Subtitle them with the Dungeons & Dragons name for brand recognition but they need to not be starting out with the “here is a literal set of character sheets, lets cast actors for them and make up a story as we go along” like they always seem to have done in the past.
That was a bit of a rant for what was a passing remark but it drives me up the wall that the keep trying to wring the license for profit but never seem to realise that at it’s core, it is intentionally broad and vague so there is room to make things up for themselves and they keep trying to make that engaging with an inherently non-interactive medium.
