It’s the XLBS Show! Happy Sunday CoG’s……
I’ve been working on my Indomitus Box and have placed an order for the Citadel Contrast Paints set. I couldn’t make up my mind so I bought them all in one go. This will be the very first time I’ve bought and worked with ANY GW paints. I hope the contrast paints are as good as they’ve been talked up! I have a lot of new 40k minis to paint up so wanted to give the ‘Miracle Paints’ a go. Against my original wishes it looks like I am recreating my Imperial Fists in Primaris standards. Before I caught ‘Indomitus Fever’ I bought up a bunch of the Adeptus Mechanicus and Imperial Knights. I guess in for a penny in for a pound!
I also received in the mail today, my order from ‘BlackSiteStudios’. I’ll be creating a battle board for taking down to the library to entice others to try ‘Spectre Operations’ and other modern miniatures war games. The board will be 2’x2′ with molded terrain and the ‘BlackSiteStudios’ MDF structures on top. That way I might be able to draw them in with the modeling and then hook them on the game play! You never know, it might work. 🙂
close. happy Sunday
I’m third, I guess that I’m not the only one who thinks sleep is overrated. Happy SUnday
Star Fleet / X-bomber was aired on ITV Saturday mornings in the UK during the 1980’s
It did look familiar.
I loved that show.
I still have an annual kicking around upstairs. from 1980-something(!) It was great when I was 10 or so.
Was that not (battle for the planet’s) or were they both on I only remember BftP.
Battle of the Planets was on BBC 1 around the end of the 1970s and is an English dubbing of Science Ninja Team Gatchaman, the English version modified some of the characters (Sandy animation did) for airing in the US and Uk.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2w7mPkEGBjc – History of the show (not Gatchaman)
Ah I loved that show.
Didn’t Brian May have something to do with it or did I just dream that ?
HAPPY SUNDAY!!!
So happy to be able to watch XLBS after such a looong crazy week at work.
Starfleet was brilliant. I think it was on ITV many moons ago
Yep, and I highly doubt whoever scheduled it was aware of how nuts/brutal it was. Pretty sure somewhere around here we’ve still got a Starfleet VHS that compiled the last few episodes (hint: it’s a Japanese science fiction space opera – so trippy is an understatement)…
Happy Sunday.
Time for another 1.5 hours of distraction from reality that is XLBS!
About to make a coffee as I started watching… Maybe it’ll just be an instant this morning for some reason…
I’m amazed that 4 people unravelled the obscure combination of vaguely related concepts from Warren’s brain being referred to as a code… Hopefully one day logic will return as a feature.
Starfleet is a stonecold CLASSSIC. Worth it just for the fact the dude with the spectacular afro? His name is BARRY HERCULES.
Also it has a puppet that smokes.
And i guess the plot & action is kinda fun as well (but admittedly very much of its time)
Why was Gerr waving his tentacles at us , at the end
And I’m pretty sure my hobby disaster for the week tops Lloyd’s – I had last week off with big plans for hobby, then Monday night the shelf that runs the length of my bedroom – including over my bed – collapsed, dropping the shelf on my noggin, as well as a load of rulebooks and the Sisters of Battle army I had primed up. Oh, and the other end of the shelf took out the Space Wolf & Deathwatch armies I had likewise primed, as well as a load of completed projects, and dumped a load of **** on my painting desk.
Put it in context, I havn’t even gotten that far into the room to assess how bad the damage is. Thankfully whilst I hurt a bit there’s nothing too serious. Just the lost time & effort is frustrating…..
Star fleet was ace. Got the dvd
@lloyd wet blending?…lifes too short for that crap
Star Fleet, music by Brian May of Queen if I remember correctly. I loved that show growing up, but I think I tried it agaon 5 years back and it wasn’t as good.
BTW what happened about that cow elf competition? I think it fell between the cracks.
Yep it was and here it is
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7GFU5ncKhU
And we see Brian May audtioning for the role of Holly in Red Dwarf there.
If many small machines joining together to form one big machine is as effective a battle strategy as Japanese TV would have us believe, I wonder if anyone has successfully implimented it in real life, ie 5 tanks connecting to make a super tank rather an a real giant stompy robot? I’m assuming this doesn’t actually work and is just madness.
I was going to post exactly that about Brian May ?
Happy Sunday Coggs ?
That tanker is looking great Warren. Great work by Phil, well deserved golden button absolutely lovely bit of work
Cracked the Codebuster! But I’ll keep shtum.
STARFLEET! I watched that on Sky!
That dark age village is pretty cool. We’ve got something a bit like it here in Scotland https://www.duncarron.com/
Happy Sunday. 3D printing today, some haybales from the Townsfolk Collection from Mia Kay’s kickstarter, also getting some models ready for resin printing from Dragonlock’s Kickstarter Vallis Mortis – the Dragonshire Items set 1 & 2. About to print some books for bookcases. Have a good day folks.
Lol the XLBS
I had a bottle of gorilla blue that that when off quick.
Happy Sunday! So for the first time I entered the codebusters and entered the answer and was offered a tempting discount for Infinity N4…already backed the kickstarter and a few of the other “watered-down” products from Corvus Belli, but not sure I will ever play this game. Haven’t even read through my copies of N3…
@warzan can I not buy GW products from OTT? I was interested in the Lord of the Rings stuff for my grandsons who love the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. Just trying to send some business your way…
Lol white cola cola?
Ha is Ben the new Justin?
Happy XLBS one and all
You should Google Panama and super Panama cargo ship’s for BIG ship’s @warzan
Just wee boatys!?

Star Wars and Seagulls https://youtu.be/U9t-slLl30E
Lol Warren has new containers are in a container.
Ooh borrowers an badgers is going dark.
Ooh have you seen the top of their skull that has an X with a diamond in the centre because they are still growing guy’s.
Just have a disclaimer at the start of the video they do @warzan ?
The population of Rome was shocked during lockdown to see so many pigeons and rats being consumed by seagulls… the lack of tourists and easy food meant the seagulls went after live lunches.
LOL… and Ben died a little on screen as Warren reached over and kick-started his 100cc vibrating pleasure engine that drove his bumping thumping jumping god-rod (lovingly nicknamed “Mutinus Tutinus”) with optional blue titanium anodization that spared no expense for Studio 1.
What is this that everybody over there saying its hot? Yes, summer heat. I guess its all that humidity that I don’t worry about here. *sigh* Sweet arid air.. but then again there are wildfires putting smoke into the air for mile upon mile. A bit of a toss up it seems. Lloyd, you might want to have a small glue cooler where it can be kept at a lower temp than the rest of the house.
Gerry, I look forward to the sod roofing as an element that would set ths display off from other thatch rooves. Good stuff for the future. Now the scabby troll really is pretty gross. Would you add more greens and throw on small rivulets of UHU as purulent material oozes from the cracked open sores?
Now, with all these shenanigans going on I vote that Warren devotes some time and effort to possibility of having a special weapons team… the Greater Arabistani People’s Extremists. It puts a little GAPE in that ARSE going on there. I’d be willing to say they’d be a more radical contingent with regard to ‘splitters’. With all the things they might bring to bear they’d need to be larger than life to instill fear in a response team from getting torn a new one.
Ben, go ahead and add some weathering the likes of Gerry’s sponge effect for shields/animals. Go with brown, reddish orange and yellow for iron rust (or maybe an exotic green/blue for copper content) to give grimdark lagomorph (rabbit).
Again, a good show. See everybody again soon.
I say this with a heavy heart but I am finding the XLBS to be pointless and irrelevant of late as there is no to little interesting content in it. Before Covid it was going this way but since it has been slowly getting worst. All it is now is a simple what have you done this week, a easy talk which is fine but its the whole show and even the Golden Buttons are sort of shoehorned into the show. Your original format of having a point to discuss to spark a debate was better. Use the topics from the radio show as a basic to continue the debate.
This is some feedback for you and I might be the only one who is feeling this way but I am finding that the shows, in fact the whole platform, is being totally dominated by one individual, I am sorry to say it and their butterfly hobby, and you need to getting back to being more intelligence, covering all of the hobby not use the areas you like. Also if you are going to talk about historical games, event or just history please do some research into it, or simply r4ead wiki.
I will say if the format doesnt improve I will find it difficult to support you.
Please CoGs tell me I am right or wrong is XLBS just turning into what I did this week? Is it boring? Are my views fair? Is it working for you?
I bet no one at OTT reads this anyway
I have read it haha. I will be looking at ways to bring the discussion topics back into the show. Over the past few months we’ve been doing a lot more hobby during lockdown so we’ve just had a lot to talk about and then trying to balance that alongside a lot of other things we’ve been juggling content-wise recently.
It’s also a case of trying to find a topic that we’re all interested in discussing – but, have no fear, I do have some ideas for when XLBS returns in a couple of weeks.
Ha Ha, @brennon, and that is good to hear. I fear that you might have to reign in the might Warren a bit, but thats not an easy task.
I look forward to seeing these ideas
I do wonder about how much things other than Covid-19 have impacted the shows that OTT puts out and the shows that have gone away.
The store seems to be quite resource heavy. I do wonder what the possible impacts of a No Deal Brexit could have on any European sales they have.
I do miss the discussions on the overall business of table top gaming. Team Covenant also seem to have gone a bit quieter on that subject, perhaps it is all a bit too close for home in these troubled times.
I used to watch both the Weekender and XLBS as soon as they came out. Not so much these days, and I find myself fast forwarding more than I used to.
I do wonder what content is going on in the disco, apart from Warren’s Radio Show. But like redit, I can’t be bothered with yet another way of communicating in a digital way, rather than in real life.
This site does seem a bit quieter these days.
Just some honest feedback.
To be honest there isnt any contact on Disco other than Warren’s show. I do think that Discord has effected the forums though. I do think that they need to think about their direction moving forward or they are going to get lost up their own backsides.
@warzan – Federal Unionist Covid Kingdom? for your insids?
I see those two man fire team bases and think they look relatively chunky. That would make me want look at going back the 3D printing and seeing if you could leave some recesses in them to drop magnets into so you could literally split the base in two as you split the fire team. It would leave them on semi circles for bases but if the footprint wouldn’t ruin the game rules I reckon that would make a neat partition game gimmick.
@warzan GW don’t have a contrast paint for black skin, however in their standard paint range the do.
Catachan Fleshtone (base)
Knight Questor Flesh (Layer)
Not sure how helpful that is.
That ship would work great for a table top version of Xcom Terror From The Deep.
