And because I owe @rayzryr a bit of info on the Shiledwolf Shield Maiden sprues…
Part 1 of 2:
Kit contains command and troop sprues. No idea in what ratio as I got mine from KS at the tail end of the campaign and am pretty sure I ended up with too many of the command sprues in the big box o’ stuff I received.
Command sprue with 4 minis (back of torso can be affixed with cape or no cape options)
Troop sprue, with 6 minis
Sprues are set up to offer the choice of assembling as shield maidens (with hand weapon and shield) or rangers, with cloaks and crossbows. Plenty of detail (the heads/faces/hair look great and will be used in many of my on-going conversion henceforth, and the woodgrain on the shields is really nice too), lots of spare components and the parts fit really well (ball and socket joining system on the arms/head and pins on the torso. connection points to the sprue leave a little to be desired so it does require a little clean-up work once they are clipped off.
Minis are finer/slimmer than most similar male minis which may be a slight issue depending on parts conversion (a close look at my recent Nordic army will let you see that all the male standard bearers and musicians have very underdeveloped left arms – Yup there were no command components in the fireforge kits so I just used the Shield Wolf command components as I had a bunch of them – itf it looks too comical I’ll green stuff on some armour later…). Height wise, exaggerated 28mm. Plastics were made by Renedra and they came with square 25mm Freebooter bases – notable as the bases are recessed/have a lip on the outside – possibly to allow water effects to be added in?
