So I decided to pull out my Big Blue GW miniatures storage box.

Within its confines was a 40K army I began back in 2008.  Imperial Guard (now Astra Militarum) using Cadian models initially in a terra-cotta color.  Most of them were battle tested in 40k but they really have languished for 10 years in Miniature Void.  In that time I attempted re-prime and Paint in a desert theme but never finished.  But as Winston said, “Never Give Up!!”

Progress has been made!!

Colors on the IG minis:

Army Painter Rattle Can Desert Yellow. Citadel Bestial Brown for helmets and boots. Touch up of uniforms with Citadel Tallarn Sand.  Body Armor with Citadel Iyanden Darksun. All with a wash of Citadel Agrax Earthshade.  Citadel Bugmans Glow(Base), Reikland Fleshshade (Wash) and Reaper Tanned Skin (layer) for faces hands.  Most of the utility belts, pouches, canteens was Reaper Leather Brown with an Agrax Earthshade wash. Metal parts were either Reaper Blade Metal or Vallejo Gunmetal Grey with Citadel Nuln Oil wash.  I like a more muted like of the Wash and don’t often add highlight layers.

The Ratlings were a fun paint and I was able to touch up all the commissars, the Arron Leader and the Inquisitor who is the leader of this merry band of IG.  I have several Special Weapons squads – Plasmas, Multi Melta, Grenade Launchers and Flamers which give me some flexibility.  Next up is finishing the Heavy Weapons Teams.  They are mostly based coated with a few parts needed (accessories and arm or two!)

Once these are done I’ll work on making standard troops and another command squad
