I better answer the questions…
1. Do crossovers work? Some subgenres of music crossover well. Doom metal and Death Metal gave us the English Doom Death scene of the early 90s and who doesn’t like a bit of My Dying Bride, Paradise Lost or Anathema. Rap and metal on the other hand do not mix… see Anthrax. Games are the same. Marvel v DC would be cool, Marvel v Space Marines not so much. I’d love to see more music/game crossovers for the tabletop. Something like Legacy of the Beast (Iron Maiden’s mobile game) could translate really well into a boardgame.
2. Good or bad for who? They are obviously good for the companies as a source of income, marketing tool and market research. They are good for the convention goers, but by asking how to improve how they are released suggests you believe that there is a problem here. Companies should do what they want, and people should buy what they want. Suggesting otherwise infringes on a company’s and people’s freedom and I am am going to finish here before I get into politics and economics, which I have absolutely no desire to talk about here.
3. I’ve called teammates rude names when playing rugby or cricket when they have been greedy and played for themselves and not the team or when they have been lazy.
