Sorry for being AWOL, but I had no computer. There was a little ‘popping’ noise and everything went quiet! So, out I went first thing this morning to find a new computer…not as easy as you would imagine. One shop wouldn’t sell me a computer for cash either. When did that start happening?

Anyway, all sorted and set-up.

@sundancer – now I get it! Pretty sexy looking effect you get too. 100pts. I might have to have a look about and see what I have. What do you use?

@oriskany – Iron Eagle! Oh Lord, I remember that. Lou Gosset, Jr. I believe. Just like all terrible things based on ‘real’ tech. Airwolf, Blue Thunder, Knight Rider, etc, etc. Anyway, it was all better than BJ and ‘the bear’.

That Waterloo set was beyond my price range, but my grandfather did say he would get it for me, but the shop we used to go to just never got them back. I would love to do some more Foreign Legion games, but wouldn’t know where to start. Napoleonics players used to bore the arse off me when I used to go to a club. Every turn has to be exactly how it really happened…what’s the point of playing?

If I ever see one i’ll get it for you!

@ceppie – Prince Charles is Commander-in-Chief of the Parachute Regiment. I have to admire the fact that he only agreed if he went through the training. He did the whole thing too. Full bore. Not many can do that.

I also tried to do ‘contoured’ terrain and it always looked bogging. Scatter terrain rules.

My Traktor Muls arrived too! Did one…

I love the flowing fountain…awesome detail. 200pts. You would never get her in an F-14 cockpit today. Back of a C-5?

@horati0nosebl0wer – so, they found out where you live! Witness Protection is not what it used to be. When you say your house-mate’s “otaku (anime fanatic) hermitage” do you mean he is a cronic chugger?

I can dig it…I love Babymetal. 100pts.

You need to get your own place where you can set-up your stuff and not be bothered. I have never shared with people, other than living in a barrack block, but I had my own room. People are too noisey for me. I also cannot stand “mess”. If anyone opened my Jaffa Cakes then they would be claimed.

Well, you have to be firm about the boob and the boobs have to be firm. I always think that “more than a handful is a waste”.

Is it going to be easy enough to find somewhere nice to relocate to? You should joke about boob operations…I had a partial, double mastectomy last year. Boom-boom.

@rayzryr – spelling that is testing me! 50pts. Well, I did create this. I love the kitty!

My brilliance is only overshadowed by my awesomeness. I am also very, very humble and don’t like to sing my own praises. However, I rule.

Jon Pertwee would do some Judo throws and a few “Karate-chops”. It got me started with Judo at 8. You have never seen Mr. Cushing as the Doctor? How? Peter Cushing is the official ‘patron saint’ of this page. He was a lifelong wargamer and collector of toy soldiers. He had to move house as his collection was bringing down the upstairs due to the weight. He once stated that his collection was what kept him going through all the pressure of making films.

He also played the Doctor twice. Slightly more ‘comical’ than you might have thought.

Mowgli was from Cat Protection and was already named. His brother was there too, George, and I took him. He had a stomach problem which turned out to be a tumour. They removed it twice, but that was it. Mowgli had diabetes, but lived for 7 years. The vet said it was because we have other cats.

victor meldrew sits watching

Mowgli was like a dog.

So where did these new Marines come from and have you ever wondered what a Space Marine has in his codpiece? I have a picture!

Space Crusade was great, but you were a bit of a late-comer. 100pts. Warhammer 1st edition wasn’t out when I started playing. Games Workshop didn’t exist…it was Games Gallery and they they bought all the stores. When it opened in Newcastle myself, and two friends, slept outside to be one of the first 10 through the door. That meant you could have ANYTHING from the store for £1. I got a copy of Golden Heroes!

I didn’t paint those tanks…I bought them like that, well, traded them like that. My painting was never amazing (I might have a picture of something from my 40K years), but now it is not even that good…strokes suck! I can paint terrain bits, but not minis. I have been trying quite a bit, but with not very good results. The face on the Foxtrot Ranger is on attempt 5.

I always loved FW. I bought loads of their IG tank conversion kits. So sexy. A good friend of ours worked for Wacoshop HQ, but got “made redundant” and FW took him on. Now there is a painter that is beyond others. I don’t know if he still works as I haven’t heard from him in a while. What I see from FW now is pretty uninspiring.

I have a reasonable CD collection. Vinyl too. Heather’s collection is also impressive…if you like Boy George! I have quite a few autographed albums/singles/cds – the sign of a mis-spent youth going to soundchecks.

However, I have gone with the times and gone MP3/MP4 too. At one time we must have had over 500 tapes and not all of them porno either. Most of them music from tv shows. We kept them and I ought to get them converted. I don’t even have a video player.

That was just a general question…maybe badly placed.

Star Wars was amazing when it came out. The first time I saw a clip I almost fainted. My Uncle took me to see it for my 10th birthday. We stayed and watched it twice! He drove from Stoke-on-Trent in his Bewick Century to take me to see tESB when it was released. Drove to the school and told them we had a family emergency. Imagine doing that now? Everything after that was pure mince. 50pts.

I hope everything goes well for your brother. He will be in our thoughts. (that is not a joke) I wish I could go to China for a week…the afternoon would do me. At the minute I can make it into Newcastle to see a band, but sometimes don’t make it through a whole gig.

My dad will drive me up to Scotia and it takes me three days to recover. China might be a bit much. I want to go the Canada and meet @ceppie, but I will have to do some serious training before I would be allowed. Pity. Where are you?

We had a litter from Trixy and my dad kept one, Purdy. Purdy had a litter and we kept another, Bessy. Both mad as f**k. We would take Trixy up to Scotand for my dads 2 weeks summer holiday and he wouls walk her 6-10 hours-a-day. When she came home she had a chest like a Bulldog!

mowgli the BB table

You couldn’t move the beast, so we would just play on him. He held the BB turn counter for the whole game without moving.

I look after my daughters Pugs if she is working away or her boyfriend is on opposite shifts…he works for the Fraud Squad. He is a civvie, but works funny shifts. We are even having a Pug-over tonight.

I am not a tournament person either. It is usually just me and the boy, but Dave plays now-and-again. Infinity rules. Maybe the best game I have played. I am half-way through building a pair of Traktor Muls right now…

Uluru is a sacred site and not something to go climbing on. Someone we know used to live with Koori…his dad is a professor of anthropology, wrote a book about Uluru, and does work to do with land rights. Prof. Latham (I think that is his surname and used to be a Durham Uni). Too many spiders for me.

I didn’t know Marilyn Manson was responsible for Columbine? He did make an intersting comment about Columbine in a film by the horrible fat chutney-picker.

Another thing I missed was the ‘Batman’ thing. Never seen a single one of the films. I used to collect Batman comics about 30 years ago, but they changed. When he was the “dark knight” fighting his super-steroid addiction – that was when it was still readable.

The Domaru can make some nasty Fireteams, but that was just a picture with the three Tankos’.

When you mention that your mother got rid of your stuff…I had an girlfriend before I went into basic training, but things change and rather than take some ‘stuff’ about 2 miles she dumped it. Among that ‘stuff’ were some of my early Marillion records (autographed too) and six boxes of 15mm Traveller miniatures and all my Traveller stuff. Nil desperandum.

@commanderkaiser – well, I have been away too! I hope you have been doing good? Ao? I did say “amything”. You go for it. 100pts. I intend to be here ever weekend if you get bored.

1. My first pet was a Budgie when I was 6-7. When he died I wailed for days. Losing them sucks.

2. Bloody hell…that makes me old! 200pts. I remember buying mine just after we got married. Desert Storm ruled.

3. Did anyone else ever use it? I had my own watering-can to help my grandfather water the leeks and onions. It was three times my age when I was 10 and I just about lift it! 100pts. Check this out…

Your ‘bargain’ was a bit mercenary, but allowed. It is like that what staff know they are going to leave. I got 8 Defilers back when Wacoshop staff got things by weight! I won’t tell you how much I paid, that would be vulgar, but I had change from a £20 note. It was a while ago…2004 maybe.

I agree with you…if it is clear they either didn’t know/really forgot/newbie then it would be a bit unfair to not let it go. Maybe different if you both know the rules well and were playing a campaign or tournament. It should be fun…always. 200pts.

@woldenspoons – only ever walked out of one gig and it was Placebo. What a puff! He also missed more notes than the watch officer on the Titanic. Some really pretty gothy girls, but they were all wearing fairy wings…the boys too. We lasted four songs and it was time to go.

1. I got two for my 10th birthday when SW was first released. They were magical. R2-D2 and Ben Kenobi. Awesome. 500pts.

Dave has a thing for Transformers…the old cartoon ones. Beyond me. He does have lots of the models and those other Japanese things that look like F-14’s.

2. So, you are a almost a grave robber? 100pts. Well, everyone has to be something. As a great philosopher used to say, “Naughty, naughty…very naughty.” Nothing wrong with that. We used to have a local store (not really) and when he closed he wouldn’t sell anything.

3. With age I find that what was once so important means less-and-less. Either that or you need glasses! 100pts.

I do not understand why ANYONE would cheat when i. playing a game of toy soldiers, ii. playing a game with friends. Pointless. It is just a game and if you want to win that much tell me beforehand and i’ll let you win.

Heather used to have a thing about Marilyn Manson and has been to see him a few times. We also went to KoKo to see one of Dita’s shows. It was nearly all women!

Conquest Mag = BDSM?

@skiptotheend – I was close. Yes, that is an awesome series. I am ancient and have seen all. I remember when there was no C4. No problem if you had ‘real’ stuff that needed doing. That is always allowed.

Peepshow is pretty good. 200pts. We watch it most nights. Heather started watching it and I just started listening to it. One episode always makes me anxious…when they are in the game shop. What is the Infinity mini behind them?

Dad’s Army, Rising Damp, Steptoe & Son, Love Thy Neighbour, Curry & Chips…all the greats. Do you like ‘Carry-On’ films?

Awesome building! 200pts. I have to stay off their sites when I get my pocket money. I have put interior walls into some of our Infinity buildings. Just looks better.

Force-on-Force is a brilliant set of rules. Covers everything and makes total sense when you play. There was an article on BoW about FoF if you have a look it might be still about.

Those middle-eastern building are stunning. I saw them when they were released. If I played 28mm scale I would be using those. 100pts. We play 20mm and i’ll post a picture of some of my buildings. If you are interested?

The Assault Group make some really beautiful 28mm moderns. Check them out. However, Spectre Miniatures are amazing. I told them so!

The new Dr. Who is rubbish. They totally waste the opportunities they have. Too much SJWing from the BBC. Pretty ironic. Maybe they are trying to make up for all their ‘stars’ that got the jail after Operation Yew Tree? Who knows they things…

Those notes are fantastic. 500pts. Stuff like that rules. I have my grandfather’s favourite tie and his gold tie-pin. I never wear a tie, but I would cut off a limb before I got rid of them. However, that is really historic too. I hope you hand it down to someone who appreciates it too.

My first computer was a ZX-81. No ram exansion either. Then a Spectrum. You got a free Octopuss to help with the keys. Then an Atari 800 with a floopy disc drive and a printer. Big gap and then a 486 PC with a 250mb hard drive.

I know what you mean about them being amazing and shitty at the same time. I would spend hours typing in stuff from magazines just to watch random sine waves. Geek stuff. Geek stuff rules.

I took Eve to see Enter Shikari (and to meet them as I ‘know’ people) quite a few years ago. They were not bad. Energetic and seemed to mean it. Not really my thing, but better than some. Eve is named after a band, All About Eve, which is how I met my wife. I was working for them when I was on leave and she was stood shivering outside. What could I do? We went to see My Chemical Romance a couple of times. System of a Down were the best. Savage.

Ska? Nice. Well, more 2-tone myself. Specials, Beat and Selecter. Growing-up my best friend was mad into Ska/2-tone and I absorbed it while we played Monopoly. We would aslo dance to it at our local youth club.

@shingen – not a problem. Anyone can drop by if they have something juicy or want to ask a question. I might be an old git, but I am not a monster. Not until the Moon is full!

@robert – ultra tasty work! 500pts. A lovely mix of sickly colours. Nurgle rules. Did you have a good time?
