The conversation has drifted somewhat, but going back to the original comment regarding excitement and enthusiasm… I do find that the longer the wait, the more likely your enthusiasm will fade.

Perhaps a new ‘shiny’ has appeared, or your interests change (inspired by a new game, book, movie, tv series etc).

As time passes… impatience grows (turning to frustration eventually).

And covid is not helping, it adds to the delays and keeps us from playing with our friends… so you have to adapt your interests… some games work fine solo, others are great as two player games, but for many of us that’s the limit to the size of the gaming group for the near future… and some games are rubbish without 3 or more players.

In summary… life goes on… things change… focus shifts… excitement fades.
