I’ve just done a search and there isn’t any mention of this anywhere on BoW (at least that the search can see), so I thought I’d point you towards this Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1492106834/aeon-trespass-odyssey/description

Cliff notes: Its cheaper ($129 for the core game), Post-Greek Kingdom Death : Monster, but without the porn and with a whole lot more world building, story, and exploration.

Setting: The age of ancient Greece went on for longer and the gods got cocky and opened a portal to somewhere/something convinced that they could handle any threat.  They were wrong and all died to a man.  Now new unspeakable horrors roam the land, bringing destruction and terror everywhere.  All hope is lost as mankind knows its gods are dead.  You wake up 10 years later with no memory, onboard a vast city sized ship that is under attack by a Kaiju made entirely out of human hands (a Hekaton) and are told you need to merge your mind with a 30 foot tall human-like Titan (A-la Avatar) and fight it like a KD:M battle.  Narrative led exploration and development happen from here, including a tile based world map to explore and have adventures over.  Along the way you can recover some memories triggered by what you do, you can develop your character, develop your titans and build new ones, and develop your ship.  The game has a memory and will change based on your choices.  I’m told it will even remember things between campaigns and that you cannot discover everything in one play through.

    Interesting points:

    • You don’t have HP.  Every time you are hurt your danger rating goes up, which decides which deck you draw damage from.  The higher your danger, the fewer non-death cards are in the deck.  These cards can also have good things on them, like spotting an opening and making a counter attack.
    • You and the monster get more powerful as the fight goes on and as you get hurt, instead of getting weaker as is usually the case.
    • The monsters can learn from the combat and from your actions.
    • Some of the monsters can be climbed on like Shadows of the Colossus and different attacks and effects can be made based on where you stand on them.  I hear there is even a “the floor is lava” battle.
    • The monsters are all VERY unique in appearance.  I’m not even sure how to describe some of them.

I wasn’t exactly inspired when I first stumbled in to it, thinking it was just another KD:M knock-off, but having watched some playthroughs and interviews etc it now feels like an evolution of it, with extra features and game elements.  I am super keen to have my copy arrive and give it a test drive.  If anyone wants in but doesn’t want to go all in right away, the pledge manager will open up after Wave 1 has delivered so people can buy the expansions before wave 2 ships.  This will not be going to retail.
