Hi… I’ve pre-ordered a copy of the new Warlord rules, SPQR and was browsing through the goodies that are due for release later in July. I was a tad surprised that the box of Gallic Warriors they are offering are going to retail at £20 for 20 figures, when you can buy a box of 40 identical looking figures for £22 from their Hail Caesar range!   It seems that the figures are £1 each in one range and £0.55 each in the other. Have I missed something?

The box of twenty figures contains cards for the game and round bases instead of square but they are the same sprues.  One box you get 2 sprues, the other 4.  They’ll be priced this way as the demand for them will be fairly low as you get so many in the starter box and loads of the potential players will already have enough celtic/germanic warriors that they won’t need to buy any more.

Edit – I’ve actually looked at the pre-orders and the pricing is odd and makes no sense to me!

I think they might need some cash to help fund their new stores in the US.

If I do decide to give SPQR a go, I might just use Victrix Early Imperial Romans and Gallic types. They are beautiful figures and if you’ve only got a few to do, you might as well make a good job of them.

This all looks a little rushed to me, the contents changed several times in the first couple of days of pre-order, be interested to see what the quality of the components are like so on the fence until I can see in the box so see if its worth if to get into if you already have figures.
