Cursed City went up for preorder today and it’s already out of stock at all the usual stores.

GW are utter bastards when it comes to releasing new boxed sets.

It’s as hard to get one as it used to be to get an ‘early bird’ discount on a cmon kickstarter.

I think we should all be used to it by now, still bloody annoying though. I was refreshing furiously on a few sites and the worst problem I saw is that it didn’t even appear on many of them. The novel did for about 3 mins until it disappeared.

Kept getting the continuous spinning wheel of death on OTT store, but it looks like I managed to secure one.

I can’t even register with BoW store for a reminder when back in stock. Keeps telling me to log in even when I am logged in. When I click on preorder it says I can’t as it’s out of stock.

Some of the usual sites are not showing it in stock, but GW releasing on a bank holiday weekend was a bad  idea and some online store are shut for the weekend.

The number of people trying to get the game has done a number on pretty much every store’s infastructure.

On the bright side, this isn’t a limited boxed game. It will be back in stock.

I grabbed a copy from GW at 10.10am today, I saw late last night you get a “Key” from them… not the reason I went with GW, I knew it be cheaper on other sites, but hearing of the 8+ copies only per store I thought try my luck with the big boys.

My first Boxed game from them since space hulk 3rd edition… and it be my first dungeon crawler too…hoping over summer to make a project of it.. add 3D terrain, maybe some car buildings ? Time will tell.

I tried getting a copy at OTT store but kept crashing got as far as going through PayPal to be told it could not complete as was now out of stock, by this time it was 10:30 so checked GW site just in case an was able to preorder a copy without issue, missed the limited key but was not really bothered for that.

I hope it will be back in stock soon… got plans for some of those minis in my Soulbound game.

Guess it gives me time to finish painting some of my backlog.

I logged into the online store i normaly buy stuff like this at about 10:45 this morning and around 11 o’clock I saw the englisch version of the game but it was sold more or less immediately. A tiny bit later the german version poppep up, and while I normally buy Games Workshop stuff in english I like to get the boardgames in german, so that was finde with me.

Added the game and some Lumineth stuff to my basket and wanted to buy it, buzt I was already logged out again so I logged in and the game was sold out.

Got one from another store though, there they were also selling the book.

And now I learned on the Internet that the german version of the novel doesn’t seem to come with the hero card, at least on GW’s on webshop it isn’t mentioned. Really great.

I’m not interested in the novel. From what I’ve seen of GW characters in novels their names are unpronounable and that’s off putting when I read it.

Also, the hero with the book sounds a bit crap and I believe to build him you’re supposed to buy a box of four wizards that costs £25 which mean that one card is costing 40+ quid. Massive ripoff.

Well I got that model back from the days of Warhammer Fantasy when it was a box which could build tww wizards.

It might be hard to get one on pre-order day, but it’s not usually that hard to get. Sometimes you just have to wait until the second print run.  GW have a finite production capacity and they have to balance supply and demand to get products to market in order to make cash, sometimes that means doing multiple small print runs.  Saying they’re “utter bastards” is probably a bit harsh.

However in this case, the rate at which they sold out was actually slower. Normally they sell in the first few minutes, this time they had copies left on the GW store at 10:30.

Cursed City has arrived. Push fit miniatures, so not going to be tricky to assemble… but painting will take longer and won’t match the quality of those propainters at GW.

The game itself I can’t comment on, but I hope to try a solo playthrough at some point… maybe even with other players if I’m ever allowed to have people inside my house and sitting at the same table in the next decade.

Well it seems that there might be no more Cursed City either only for the time beeing or forever:

I hope there will be a reprint, I got my copy of the game but I really would like everyone that wants one gets one and it would be nice to have some expansions.

I hope there is a reprint too! I honestly don’t get why they would remove all reference for it after assuring everyone that it wasn’t going to be limited even if its coming back under a different SKU.
