Video previews are starting to appear on YouTube a couple of weeks before Awaken Realms launch their new KS for Etherfields. July 16 is the date consistently mentioned. A chance to look beyond the stunning miniature renders to other matters such as gameplay etc…

    >> Rolling Solo Preview: https://youtu.be/uRls6yU7AKQ

There are spoilers in the videos, but first impressions:

    – this looks very much a campaign game, with 30 scenarios to work through as a 1-4 player group over ~60 hours of game time.

    – there’s a deck-building mechanic core to developing your character plus a map to gradually unlock.

    – like some other board games with minis, the minis themselves are simply fancy 3d tokens on a flat tile board. I wonder if there’ll be mini-only and board only pledgess on offer?

Getting TWOM vibes from visual aspects of the graphics mixed with that exploration of the unknown feeling that Awaken Realms offers (both Awaken Realms games). Mix in a sprinkling of “Holding On: The Troubled Life of Billy Kerr”? Although that may be a mis-firing taste bud.

Same game designer as This War of Mine (TWOM), so similar vibe not unexpected.
