How are the components quality-wise?  I have severe doubts about Wizkids ability to produce things of quality!

No complaints the board is quality as is the tokens and cards.

The minis whilst could easily just be meeples to me look and feel like great board games pieces.

Painted minis look nice. I have played 3rd edition and not really my cup of tea. Just seems too long a game for the single macguffin of chasing Vlad around the map. For that length of game I prefer Eldritch Horror as you get a lot for story.
