    Hey guys,

Looking for advice here. I have two Citadel Woods kits. Thats two bases and six of the following trees in total:

Im using mainly GW paints with some Army Painter washes. This tree has been primed in GW Zandri dust. Im kind of a basecoat, hilight, wash, hilight, hilight kind of a guy with no access to an airbrush. Im looking for advice for a simple colour scheme to make them look good.

    I was thinking:

    (1) Spray Zandri Dust (done)

    (2) Wash with soft tone

    (3) drybrush Zandri dust

    (4) Lighter drybrush of Sylvaneth bark

    (5) Even lighter drybrush of Rakarth flesh

    Alternatively I could:

    (1) Spray Zandri Dust

    (2) Drybrush Sylvaneth bark

    (3) Soft tone wash

    (4) Drybrush Sylvaneth bark

    (5) Drybrush Rakarth Flesh

Any help would be appreciated, I really want to find the motivation to complete these, and quickly!

Hey @mage are you planning on gluing flock to the tree branches? If not have you considered doing it in more of a grey tone to make it look dead? Could be an option if you were going for more of a ‘haunted’ look or for a devastated landscape effect? I think either of the above two options would work well given the detailing in the sculpt. maybe use each technique once for two of the six trees and see how the results look? Trees won’t all be the same colours in real life so you could even go with a 3/3 or 2/4 split for variety? And then once you are happy with them to a ‘tabletop’ standard you could go back later and detail as you see fit (ie stippling on green for moss or similar). Best of luck!

Nope not planning on flocking the branches at all. I dont want to do a grey tone, i want them to sort of share colour with my ruins (see the other thread) and go on the same board. Im kind of going for a more ‘normal’ Fantasy type board:

    The non-volcanic side.

I could indeed do one tree each way and even have two different sets of woods done similarly as you say trees are all different. I could also go back later and add moss.

I decided to go with option 1, but did half with soft tone and half with dark tone:
