    Although I’d previously had a site on favourites about Dark Ages fabric dyes, I’ve just found this one complete with GW paint codes for colour matching. As modern dyes allow colours unimaginable in the Ancient and Medieval world (and frankly up until the 19th century), the colour pallets were pretty restrictive. So here’s a good guide if you’re a “button counter” when it comes to painting up your historicals, and actually it does make the minis look better (as the restrictive colours mean you now longer grab random colours to paint up your un-uniformed troops.
