Just watched Rebel Moon on Netflix, and the battle scenes from the flashbacks remind me so much of 40k Astra Militarum invading and doing a seige of a planet.

is it worth watching, I don’t think I’ve seen any positive reviews for it yet?

I was about to ask the same, the visuals in the trailer did look decent though!

Rebel Moon was ok. Part 2 comes out in april next year.

Sure I read somewhere that it was being written as a Star Wars movie… but then Disney bought Lucasarts and it was changed to something else.

The original idea from Zack was his Star Wars pitch to Lucasfilm and they passed, and Netflix picked it up. I would believe what the critics say about it BTH. It’s a fun two-hour plus sci-fi romp. It reminded me a little of the Riddick universe as well. I did get very Imperial Guard vibes from the flashback battle scenes. He will also release a director’s cut and some other projects he is set in this universe.

It’s very much a remake of Seven Samurai and semi entertaining to watch.

Lucas used Seven Samurai as inspiration (in part) for  Star Wars… including having the story view from perspective of peasant (aka droids).

Quite enjoyed rebel moon. I can see how a directors cut would help the pacing but still seemed a well done film to me as entertainment. I’ll look forward to part two and the directors cuts, the cast also worked well.

Basically seven samurai yet again but no worse for it.

I can see how people relate it to 40k but, starwars less so, it feels more grounded, there’s not really magical space wizards and more so technology with a hint of magic, but in its title sense of technology we don’t understand.

If anything for me it’s more firefly meets dune, with magnificent seven thrown in for good measure. But overall I’d say more dune inspired that 40k or starwars. I can see the imperial guard vibes from the battle scenes but I think the armour style of starship troopers but with nice fancy engraving is doing the heavy lifting there.

Side note the battle flag waving is just a Prussian Regimental flag, something sci-fi (and 40k) like stealing.

Overall 8/10 want to see more

I also got a Firefly feeling. Not first time there has been an SF Magificent Seven… there was Battle Beyond the Stars in 1980.
