### Start of shameless copy & paste ###
Read all of this before you start as it will save any trouble later.
First thing you must do is make your “pledge”. It can be anything gaming related, big or small, and you don’t even have to finish it. No, in here, happiness is the road. Have fun doing whatever it is, but it is not a race. Accompany your work with pictures or we might think you are do something sinister and just using us for cover.
You are also presented with a few questions. It is to get the conversation started. Try and keep your answers ‘conversational’, no text speak, and certainly no “basically”. This is how we all get to know each other better. While you are here feel free to tell us a story, show a picture, joke, tales of love or woe, or just add your own little bit. This is the whole point…in here it is just us.
If you have never taken part before we may bark and bite, but we also like a cuddle! It is all done in the best possible taste and it is character building. feel free to give as good as you get.
A few other things to note: NO RELIGION & NO POLITICS! Glasgow pub rules are in effect. If you need to make a better point then it is fine, but don’t take the piss. And always keep it civil.
Play plenty of music to go with your work. Loud and through proper speakers. Write us a playlist of things we might not have heard before.
Now, after all of that there is only one ‘real’ rule in here and it cannot be broken: NO DICKS! (Exceptions may be made for little fighting men with little plastic/resin/metal wieners)
### End of shameless copy & paste ###
Questions of the week:
- Do you have hay fever?
- Do you currently play Fallout 4?
- Have you seen that beautiful sculpt kickstarter for Labyrinth models?
April 24, 2020 at 5:46 pm #1517375April 24, 2020 at 6:13 pm #1517382Pledge wise I’ve started my second unit of Snowtroopers for SWL, which I hope to finish before the weekend is over.
As for the questions
- Not entirely sure, I can very occasionally display the symptoms.
- Not for a while, am contemplating starting Skyrim again, although there has just been a new XCOM release which I couldn’t resist.
- I’ll second the OH HELL YES!
April 24, 2020 at 6:25 pm #1517394This week’s pledge is to finish Tainted Grail and then to write a review of the game for OTT. Model wise there are a lot of Flesheater Courts models I need to build and paint so I think it is their turn.
I’ve just done another bit of research on Celtic mythology. Write up here: https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/1490359/#snav
- Do you have hay fever? – Yes, but I don’t get it too bad
- Do you currently play Fallout 4? – Played it extensively when it came out so I’ve been everywhere and done everything in the game. Haven’t played it since Fallout 76 came out.
- Have you seen that beautiful sculpt kickstarter for Labyrinth models? – Not yet. I’ll have to look them up.
April 24, 2020 at 8:16 pm #1517426Now that school is out of the way (I say that but I genuinely miss it already…) I have a bit more time. Pledge this weekend is to get a unit of Aggressors finished up for my Ultramarine project. After that I may be moving on to a Gravis Captain, but we’ll have to see how far I get there. 😛 My top shelf of my display cabinet is very slowly turning from grey to blue, which is nice.
As for questions;
1. Nope. I am quite lucky in that I have very little in the way of allergies (I’m not even sure I have a single one…)
2. Yes. Oh yes. Lots. I have almost broken it with mods and I’m trying a survival mode playthrough, however the early levels were a grind because I’m an idiot and dropped my endurance to 1…
3. Now that you’ve shown me, yes. 😛

Have you seen that beautiful sculpt kickstarter for Labyrinth models? What now, what now?I’m a little naffed off this week – you guys have been a brilliant inspiration to actually get some hobby done in recent weeks, and I feel like I’ve let you down by not getting my pledge finished in time for the new weekend (I *did* get some paint onto the stepper-motor-driven gun turret, but it was only a black primer and some silver drybrushing so I feel it doesn’t really count).
I *did* try out a new painting technique though, and quite liked the result:
I fell out with my stupid, spluttering, pain-in-the-arse airbrush and just used a rattle-can white zenith over Halfords Matt Black primer. I then used a black wash to re-introduce some of the darker shadows.
I tried to keep some of the heaviest shadows while layering (normally I just paint over the top and pretty much cover the entire base layer). It took a lot of faith to leave black showing on the face of the female character! But I don’t think it looks too bad – up close, maybe a bit ropey, but at arms length, it’s better-than-ok.
I’ve got a couple more minis on my painting table which I hope to get finished, but I feel like I need to pledge (once again) to get my gunner finished; if only to be able to close the project on this website, and get ready for next month’s Vampires from Titan Forge!
April 25, 2020 at 6:19 pm #15180551. I do. I developed it working in the print room of a solicitors firm. Suffer quite badly, especially in my congestion and pain in my eyes. No painting for me.
2. I did. Now I play Fallout 76. Enough th hat I want to play the Tabletop game. But then that’s true of Marvel, Batman and Star Wars too. Back to question. Fallout is right up there in my favourite franchises. Any excuse to play it.
3. I may have seen them on the weekender? Not so much for me.
I am enjoying the Weekenders indy segments, really finding some great stuff there.
Hobby wise so far I’ve assembled a tomb banshee and 4 myrmourn banshees which will be getting drafted to my Kings of War Nightstalkers.
April 25, 2020 at 6:30 pm #1518056Pledge: Finish two more minis of current commission
I’m puttiering along and finishing minis for money (the best kind of avocation). I’m almost into a new place to rent so I can set aside the Minis on the Move project. Its not a very good one as shifts have been so long but its something that I passed time with and got some good ideas with.
- Spring allergies… sometimes. It depends on the weather
- I haven’t played Fallout 4 for a while. If I started into it (if I did have a pc to run it on) I’d never pick up a brush for some time to come.
- I am checking out that wonderful collection now and I will fight the urge to lart with more money
@blinky465 I think your love/hate relation with the airbrush might be just a technical problem that can be worked out. The trickiest part that Ive found is getting the paint/thinner ratio right. Everything else was setting mine to about 12psi and being sure to clean the hell out of it. If you get drytip be sure to clean with the pointed cotton swabs (available with those things called cosmetics).
April 25, 2020 at 10:30 pm #1518181I just finished playing through the Tainted Grail: Fall of Avalon campaign and it’s been a blast. Full write up here: https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/1467741/#snav
The Knights of the Round Table make one last valiant charge!
April 25, 2020 at 11:07 pm #1518198And I’ve just written a review for Tainted Grail which you can find here: https://www.beastsofwar.com/game-review/1518192/#snav
April 26, 2020 at 10:26 pm #1518584So I’ve not gotten much done this weekend for various reasons, but I have primed my Aggressors, so work can get starter on them. I’m thinking of doing a full step by step on them for my project log, but that may take me a week or so to get sorted (I’m kind of a slow painter most of the time). Still, progress is progress no matter how small!
April 27, 2020 at 2:26 am #1518653Plah! So my most recent relationship just ended. The best thing to do is be constructive. I’ve finished my work for the pledge and a second commission with a wood tiki. I’d have done some foliage around the bottom but my airbrush kit is packed at the moment. No ventilation system means I’d have no way to deal with the overspray. Meh, live love, lose, paint minis through it all.
April 27, 2020 at 3:57 am #1518659* Two very mild sinus infections. Normally not important, but of a little concern with today’s climate.
* Nope. Saw the Conan show cold opening for Fallout, though.
* Nice! Not a fan enough for the prices they’re asking, though. Glad to see fan projects for licenses that wouldn’t make retail. The Deadlands RPG KS is live. Good enough of an excuse to paint some 20+ year old miniatures from the 1997 Deadlands: Great Rail Wars set to support them.
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/545820095/deadlands-the-weird-west/?ref=kicktraqWhere were *you* in 1997? 😀
April 27, 2020 at 6:21 am #1518698@horati0nosebl0wer They look amazing, mate. A fine job, good sir! Difficult times call for good distractions, and I must say the woodwork on that Tiki chap is spot on!
April 27, 2020 at 6:30 am #1518704@horati0nosebl0wer really nice minis you’ve done there… sorry for the part with the other part… We’re still here for you. 🙂
@ced1106 nice looking undead shooty boys.
