1898 Miniaturas’ New 28mm Visigoth Infantry Now Available
April 8, 2026 by brennon
1898 Miniaturas have now released their 28mm scale Visigoth Infantry, both Armourd and Unarmoured, for you to use as part of your Historical wargames like SAGA and beyond. Have a peek at the now-painted miniatures from their webstore.
Visigoth Infantry Command Group // 1898 Miniaturas
We start with the Visigoth Infantry Command Group, which comes with your classic leaders for any warband or army. The set comes with a leader, perhaps for a unit or a warlord in his own right, drawing his sword in readiness for the battle that is about to begin.
You also have his valiant second carrying a banner, giving a good old bellow to the skies to psyche up the rest of your troops. Making sure that all of the orders are followed to the letter, you also have two horn blowers, dictating the way that units move around the battle, sounding the charge and the retreat if things start to go badly.
All of the miniatures from 1898 Miniaturas that you're going to see here come in metal and are very nicely detailed!
Visigoth Infantry
Talking of detailed miniatures, you also have your Armoured Infantry that comes in two different packs of four miniatures each.
Visigoth Armoured Warriors #1 // 1889 Miniaturas
Visigoth Armoured Warriors #2 // 1889 Miniaturas
Both sets sport armoured warriors standing at the ready, perhaps watching as guards over a fort that has been set up deep within enemy territory. You get three warriors in each set with spears at the ready, as well as a fourth miniature from the set, which comes with a sword. This could be the leader for this smaller band of warriors in their own right, someone trusted to relay the orders of those higher up the chain.
You can also get your hands on a collection of Unarmoured Warriors, which also comes across two different sets.
Visigoth Unarmoured Warriors #1 // 1889 Miniaturas
Visigoth Unarmoured Warriors #2 // 1889 Miniaturas
These unarmoured miniatures might work as the classic rank and file that have been dragged from the fields to do your fighting. They have probably had to scrap together their own money to pay for their gear! I think I like the unarmoured infantry a bit more than the armoured infantry by virtue of the fact that they have that bit more personality in their sculpts. I like how individual they feel, which leads to interesting painting ideas.
SAGA Warbands
If you like what's on offer from the folks at 1898 Miniaturas, they have also now collated their Visigoths into SAGA warbands for you to use in the game.
Visigoth 4 Point SAGA Warband // 1898 Miniaturas
The four-point warband above gives you a good grounding for your initial games of SAGA using the Visigoths. It comes with a solid on-foot force that could be used to give you a good grounding for an expanding SAGA force. There is also a six-point warband which comes with a mounted leader in Pelayo alongside Levy Archers to provide you with a bit of cover as you march forward.
Has this inspired you to maybe give the 6th to 8th Century and the Visigoths a go?
