Games Workshop are launching 2026 with a lurgy, no doubt brought on by all of the time spent with your family members in a small room over the Christmas period. The Maggotkin of Nurgle will be getting their new Battletome alongside a suite of new miniatures so you can bring rot and ruin to the Mortal Realms of Warhammer Age of Sigmar.

Maggotkin of Nurgle Battletome - Warhammer Age of Sigmar

Battletome: Maggotkin of Nurgle // Warhammer Age of Sigmar

The new Battletome comes with everything you need for running a Maggotkin of Nurgle force on the tabletop. You will learn more about their lore, especially as the timeline extends for The Mortal Realms in the wake of the Skaven's ruination of the realms and unease amongst the Chaos powers.

You'll also get all of your Battle Traits, Enhancements, Warscrolls, two Regiments of Renown and two Armies of Renown. There is also a new Spearhead (more on that later) alongside your narrative Path to Glory rules. You can also get your hands on the smaller Gamer's Edition alongside the Reference Cards, which will be available while stocks last.

As with all of the Battletome releases, you will also get access to the Warscroll Cards as a separate buy alongside some themed dice for the Maggotkin of Nurgle.

Maggotkin of Nurgle Accessories - Warhammer Age of Sigmar

Maggotkin of Nurgle - Accessories // Warhammer Age of Sigmar

Something for the follower of Nurgle who has everything and wants to showcase their love for the putrid power of the plague! There is plenty for you to sink your teeth into for the Maggotkin of Nurgle and loads of miniatures!

New Miniature Sets

Leading the way is a new character for the Maggotkin of Nurgle, or more specifically, an update to an existing miniature from the lore. Festus the Leechlord slithers into battle on the back of his new mount.

Festus the Leechlord - Warhammer Age of Sigmar

Festus the Leechlord // Warhammer Age of Sigmar

A former plague doctor, he twisted his alchemical tonics and embraced the evil that they could spread. He has now ascended to daemonhood and gained himself a mount in the form of Gathoblyt. The set comes with plenty of fun details to paint alongside two heads for Festus for you to choose from.

Festus is then backed up by some elite warriors and servants of Nurgle.

Sloven Knights - Warhammer Age of Sigmar

Sloven Knights // Warhammer Age of Sigmar

The Sloven Knights are a dark parody of the cavaliers of the Cities of Sigmar, riding into battle on their heavy steeds, smashing apart their enemies with all manner of weapons. They look brilliant and could very easily be worked into an Old World army, whilst also being great for The Mortal Realms. The set allows you to build three Sloven Knights with a mixture of head options, so you can add more without too many repeats.

Not mounted on the back of foetid nags, you also have the Putrid Blightkings.

Putrid Blightkings - Warhammer Age of Sigmar

Putrid Blightkings // Warhammer Age of Sigmar

These are devoted servants of Nurgle, bloated and turned into brutish killers. Simply being near them is enough to cause a wizard or priest to fumble their words before hacking up their breakfast at the stench. You can build five Putrid Blightkings with this set alongside alternative heads for the champion and ways to build a standard bearer.

More heavily armoured support comes in the form of the clanking Rotswords.

Rotswords - Warhammer Age of Sigmar

Rotswords // Warhammer Age of Sigmar

Clad in rusted armour with the shimmer of slick disease, the set allows you to build ten Rotswords with options for a champion, musician and standard bearer. You get a bunch of interchangeable heads, weapons and shields, so your reinforced unit won't feature too much in terms of replication.

I like how simple these sculpts are. They aren't overly busy or laden down with detail. You have lots of great surfaces to work on and I reckon it'll all be done in a doddle!

Shambling along behind the heavily armoured warriors of Nurgle, you also have the Pestigors. These shambling, bleeting killers are going to be great at clogging up the battlefield in a frenzied mass of muscle and rusty weapons.

Pestigors - Warhammer Age of Sigmar

Pestigors // Warhammer: Age of Sigmar

This set comes with ten miniatures and all of the options for building your champion, musician and standard bearer. I think the design of these is, once again, spot on. You get a few charms and such here and there, which work nicely as little details but they aren't overly busy and should be fun to paint.

Darkwater Miniatures

As well as the new miniatures above, a lot of the figures from Warhammer Quest: Darkwater is getting released separately as a selection of different packs.

The Court of Gelgus Pust - Warhammer Age of Sigmar

The Court of Gelgus Pust // Warhammer Age of Sigmar

The first set gives you Gelgus Pust - the Prince of Sores, plus his allies in contagion, Belga the Cystwitch and Shaman Foulhoof. Use these to boost your Plaguebearers and Pestigors on the battlefield or simply smash aside your foes as Gelgus Pust himself. You could almost make a themed force out of these miniatures, based on the idea that perhaps the Jade Abbey did indeed fall.

The towering Cankerborn are also getting released as a set, daemonic forces that represent what happens when the land itself becomes blighted.

The Cankerborn - Warhammer Age of Sigmar

The Cankerborn // Warhammer Age of Sigmar

Another great set of miniatures. I really liked them, having assembled them from Darkwater, and it will be great to see how they look when they're fully painted up. These seem absolutely perfect for painting with Contrast or Speed Paint, blending different shades to make them feel like they're part of the corrupted land itself.

Last but not least, we have the shambling hordes of the Pox-Wretches.

Pox-Wretches - Warhammer Age of Sigmar

Pox-Wretches // Warhammer Age of Sigmar

The Pox-Wretches are the outcasts, mutants and worshippers of Nurgle that have flocked to the Plague Father and his many powerful champions. Much like with the Pestigors, I would imagine these Pox-Wretches will end up clogging up the battlefield with their corpses, drowning the enemy in the plague-ridden. You get fourteen of these miniatures in the set alongside the Mire Kelpies!

New Maggotkin of Nurgle Spearhead

Last but not least, I thought I'd also point out the new Spearhead that will be coming out alongside the Battletome.

Spearhead - Bubonic Cell - Warhammer Age of Sigmar

Spearhead - Bubonic Cell // Warhammer Age of Sigmar

This set is one packed with all sorts of different Nurgle pleasures, allowing you to have some fun in the speedy game mode by Games Workshop for Warhammer Age of Sigmar. The Spearhead is led by the Rotbringer Sorcerer plus the Rotmire Creed (an older Warcry warband), two packs of three Nurglings and a fun-loving Beast of Nurgle.

All of these miniatures will be coming out soon for Warhammer Age of Sigmar, giving fans of the Maggotkin of Nurgle a putrid start to 2026.

Will you be snapping up these new miniatures?
