New Scots Covenanter Characters From Empress Miniatures
October 8, 2025 by brennon
Empress Miniatures expanded their Covenanters range of figures in 28mm scale for use during the Thirty Years' War, English Civil War and more. We start with a new character for the Scots, Alexander Leslie, 1st Earl of Leven.
Alexander Leslie, 1st Earl of Leven // Empress Miniatures
Alexander Leslie was a Scottish army officer who had quite a distinguished career. He rose to the rank of field marshal amongst the Swedish Army and was a major player in the Thirty Years' War as well as Lord General in command of the Army of the Covenanters. Notably, he commanded the Army of the Solemn League and Covenant, a senior commander of the Army of Both Kingdoms.
If you're interested in learning more about his illustrious career, you can check out more about Alexander Leslie, HERE.
Another set of characters has also been introduced to the Covenanter for you to use when building up your collection and vignettes for your army.
Covenanter Characters // Empress Miniatures
This set features one of the Covenant Ministers who would offer spiritual guidance to the troops. They would also often have quite a significant influence over military matters and the strategy that would be employed on the battlefield. As Empress has noted, they have made him a little tubby, showing that he has very much embraced this higher station amongst the ranks of the Covenanters.
The set also comes with a young drummer, a piper and an officer who has been stirred into a fervour by the minister. A nice set for those looking to build a regiment of troops with a bit more character to it.
The set of new miniatures has been completed by two packs of Scots Covenanters firing their Muskets.
Firing Muskets // Empress Miniatures
You get a couple of different options for you to choose from as part of this collection. They are all in slightly different poses and have a variety of equipment on their belts. Most of the figures are firing their muskets but then you also have a fellow in the process of reloading, just to give you a slight point of difference amongst the ranks of your soldiers.
There is quite a lot of depth to this period of history, so this should give you lots of options for building your armies.
