The Last Market of Bataar - terrain challenge
collecting core elements
Always had planned for this build to use a playmobil ship as the core of the construction. It’s strong, will cut up and still add structure, plus it’s a big boat! From the reference (see the project main image) the ship seemed to be ship hulls, so this seems like a no brainer. Also measured out to 24″x24″ to make sure it never becomes too big for use on a gaming table.
Next I wanted to use some sector mechanicus boilers and pipework to help explain why this market ship floats in the air. The next job is to make craft board templates to understand what happens when the hip is cut up.
Will be using Lake town house kits so made square for thee footprint. Only getting 2 kits so I’m planning on cutting the top floor off one of them to make more coverage.
With everything cut out – it’s time to label
this is the first layout – ship cut into sections to open up the hold area for the market, see my earlier sketch. Then adding the pipework and house elements. One thing this has shown me is that, I might be able to get more out of the house kits just using fronts. If you see at the bow, I might be about to blank off the insides and get more use from the shorter sides. Kits don’t arrive til later next week so will wait for then and a better fitting. Also not shown is the great walkways will should add height to whole thing. Next job is to take this and make it into a new sketch.
