Had a pretty chilled day today with a friend over to work on some hobby stuff. I got stuck into my chaos side of the project while he worked on some stuff he wanted to progress. Aside from a break for BBQ lunch most of the day was just chatting , painting and listening to music.

Paintathon Update - Day 1; Saturday

Managed to get the base shading down on all the armour, and a start on blocking out the first colour, English Uniform on the cloaks on the Tzeentch knights. The original paint schemes were before the projects system on OTT, so I don’t have an accurate record of the colours I had used previously, so am trying to do an eyeball comparison and account for the fact that the currently finished stuff has had an AP strong tone varnish dip which will tint the colours somewhat. I figure as long as it lines up approximately it shouldn’t be too much of an issue though…

Nurgle warrior finished/target vs progress mini - OK with where the armour is at for these guys.Nurgle warrior finished/target vs progress mini - OK with where the armour is at for these guys.

Khorne marauders - no progress yetKhorne marauders - no progress yet
Khorne Warriors - still needs some work. Have vague recollections I may have used a Secret Weapon ruby wash in some of the recesses (others were all definitely AP inks over a metallic primer) so may need to play with these a little...Khorne Warriors - still needs some work. Protein to paint, nice!

So you are doing a mix of Chaos stuff, and some Middenheim themed dudes?

On eyeballing the colour scheme – have you tried using an app called PaintRack? I use it mostly for keeping a track of what paints I own so I don’t buy dupes – but it has some very nice colour tools. For example you can point your camera at a colour and it will give you the closest matches – and those either side of it from the paints you already own.

Not sure if all the features are available in the free version – I bought the ‘pro’ version but it was only a couple of quid and I’ve found it more than worth the money
