So being out of primer and trying to find an alternative to my norm, I found a half used can of Tamiya surface primer. It still sprayed good so I gave it a shot. It took 2 & 1/2 coats to cover. The 1/2 coat was spot touch ups that i missed. I was surprised at smoothness of the coat and covered well w/o pooling or runs. If you try this stuff get to some air or ventilation as it stinks pretty bad. I blocked in the first color Flat Red from "V", thinned with acrylic thinner from AK Interactive. Again a pleasant surprise that it thinned the paint well, held the pigment from seperation and did not extend the drying time too much. I was able to go with 2 quick thin coats without stopping over the 12 and obtain acceptable coverage. The only point of note is that the thinner made have brought the flat red up to around a satin finish.
