By the time  Battlefront brought out the D-Day British, I had moved on to other projects. I had  completed a fair amount of 15mm WW2, from previous spurts of Enthusiasm. The  original plan had been to use       ‘ I Ain’t Been Shot Mum,’  by the Two Fat Lardies, which we have done, but found it a bit slow in Big games, so plan to replay it with Base Flames of War mechanics but modified Bolt Action Initiative.

One of the 1st thing I have done is sort out the models I had built and not finished,  plus all the unbuilt models.

Anybody who remembers the Bootcamp will remember I brought the Fortress Europe British Starter set, Strangely the only thing I built and Finished was the Bren Carriers and the Infantry. I had built the Churchill’s but it had stalled as I had concentrated on my U.S. and German forces , see my Road to Falaise project.

So whilst waiting for my British Bulge starter to arrive from OTT store  I built all the Shermans/Firefly’s and the Achilles M10’s.

And So it continues

I started with the 1st couple of Shermans and M10 building them with stowage as I built them . But found a box of Battlefronts ‘Churchill King Force (a unexpected present from Kevin who had picked them up a a bargain Price when a book/games store in Birminghamhad closed down)’ Which also had Sherman I’s so thought , leave stowage till all finished and customise them all.

And So it continues

Anybody who has brought any of Battlefronts British Sherman V’s or M4A4’s knows you get a separate hull front and turret top for Firefly variant, so thought why not use some of the Sherman 1’s for Sherman 1C’s Fireflys, so did easy conversion of change turret parts and shave down hull gun. ( now for John , I’m its not totally correct as believe most of the non M4A4 Shermans had composite hulls consisting of Cast Sherman M4 fronts welded to M4A1 Sherman Welded hull backs,  and vaguely remember there were no recorded M4 Sherman conversions,  but its close enough.

11th Armoured Division

A long time ago I had decided to base my late War British Forces on the 11th Armoured Division, based on two points.

  1. I didnt want to 7th Armoured as everyone does them.
  2. They were the only War Time Division to be issued with Comets (I had a couple of the ‘Tanks’ models already.

As is my want I did quite a bit of research on Division and found out how successful the Division had been under its Commander ‘Pip’  Roberts.
