About the Project

Have long been intrigued by the system and setting for Wolsung by MicroArts. Once I received a Starter Club for my birthday I knew it was time to learn the game and paint some great figures. This project blog is to chart both my creative endeavors as well as my journey into learning how to play. In addition to MicroArts' lovely minis I will be adding in anything I think fits the genre of what I am building. Might even build some terrain...

I have working away at the pile of zombies I’ve acquired over the last couple of years. Other than the soldier they are all resin which paints wonderfully but is super delicate. As they will most likely betaken out of game quickly I’ve only given them basic paint jobs.  I’m sticking to Prussian uniforms for inspiration on the soldiers though I want each to look like they are from different branches of the military.  Good thing I have a second Pneumabooth to summon these guys from.

Resin has such a nice surface to paint on that my clumsiness breaks my heart as well as a lot of minis.  This Henchman of questionable employment will join my Triad gang lurking around the docks, clashing with my Scylla.

I wasn’t happy with how his face looked so I went back in and worked on his mustache and face some more.  It was worth the extra time because no he looks looks finished.  The last three pictures are the final version.

In addition to Zombies and Gun Zombies, the Pneumabooth can summon a single Zombie Soldier who has slightly better stats.  The Ven Rier have a decidedly Prussian look to them so I looked there for inspiration on the uniform.

I painted two Necrogolemic Workshops.  These will be placed on the battlefield before the game starts.  Each of them can summon a Necrogolem every turn so I have some to assemble.  I stole the idea of using Color Shifting paint on the carapace from my friend @necron099 as I just love the unearthly look it gives the figure.

So one option a Ven Rier agent has with the Pneuma Booths is to summon two generic Zombies a turn.  Considering that these guys can be eliminated as quickly as they’re summoned I didn’t put a lot of effort into them.  Even then, the close up photos are showing me a couple of spots I should go in and touch up. Going to need more of them so I better get back to work with the reclaimers and re-animators.

I’ve already painted my Bones phone box as the Tardis so I thought it best stick with the traditional red of the Lyonesse Pneuma Booths.  It is supposed to blend into the urban landscape after all.  No one knows when and where Ven Rier agents will strike and this will be a marker for where they might summon zombies or even zombie soldiers into the game.  Good thing I just spray primed some of those very same miniatures.  Might be part of a diabolical plan but it certainly means the Ven Rier Agents have infiltrated my own little neighborhood of Shadows Gate.

Sticking with the Inventors’ Club (for now), I painted one of the two versions of Alice Tinkerly.  In addition to this lady’s Scientist skill, giving her control of steam golems within 12″, she has Repair which will keep them in the fight.  The +2S in Melee means she can handle herself in a pinch.

Considering my love of all things Dwarf I’m surprised I didn’t start with this fellow.  He has such a jaunty, friendly look and I love how he can attach himself to a security golem and take a ride.  Handy and keeps the mechanical within control range. Guess I know what I’m moving up in the painting queue.
