Miles Morales Spiderman complete

Finished Miles Morales. I’ve decided to knock out the team leaders for all the different teams so I can open up more play options. He was really fun to paint. The black/dark blue was really fun for pushing contrast and it looks really striking on the table top.

Next up I’m going to do Punisher just because he’s one of my favorites, but after that I’ll be hitting up Mystique, Green Goblin, Doctor Strange and Starlord to finish up all my team leaders (save for Thanos). I’m hoping to land Kingpin and the X-Men for Christmas so I’ll have to add him and Magneto, Cyclops and Storm to the list. So many models to paint.

Finished the Punisher this weekend. He was a lot of fun to paint. I’m really getting used to doing extreme highlights on black. Next up I’m going to start painting all the leaders of the different teams, starting with Doctor Strange.

Finished up Doctor Strange over the holidays. Trying to get the leaders of all my factions done before I paint anything else. The golden rings were really fun to paint, as was the cape.

Finished up Magneto over the holidays. Probably the most fun I’ve ever had painting a model and the model I am the most proud of. I’m really happy with how the red and purple turned out and I feel like I’m starting to get more depth and contrast with TMM than I normally do.

I’m going to see if I can finish Kingpin by tomorrow, but I’m pretty wiped out from driving cross country the last couple of days, so we’ll see.

Finished Kingpin tonight. He was a lot of fun to paint. I’ve noticed that I am completely comfortable painting white and yellow now. These are colors I used to fear and avoid painting at all costs and now they are like any other color to me. That’s pretty cool.

"Take a look, Parker--a good, long look--it's the last face Spider-Man will ever see--it's the real face of the Green Goblin--the face of Norman Osborn!"

Finished up Green Goblin yesterday. I learned with this model that Sorastro doesn’t just have videos on painting minis, he also has PDF guides. I found his PDF guide on Green Goblin and it was really helpful when working on the glider and the exhaust. He was surprisingly fun to paint and painted up pretty quickly too. I’m getting more comfortable with non-metallic metal (NMM) and the quick wet blending I did on the exhaust is giving me a better understanding of how to do wet blending. I might try to work more of that into this project as I go.

So that’s the leader of the Spider Foes done. That means I have 6 more leaders to go (Cyclops, Storm, Mystique, Starlord, She-Hulk and Thanos). Working on Cyclops next.

"The Professor used to tell me the most important part of leading wasn't personality, tactics, or training. It was doing whatever it takes to get your team back alive."

Finished up Cyclops tonight. He painted up really quickly. I’m really happy with how my yellows are turning out. I tried doing an eye glow, but it wasn’t really working, so I decided to settle for a more subtle red in the visor.

Next up is the Mad Titan himself, Thanos.

"Oh, my stars and garters!"

I wanted to work on Thanos, but it turns out I’m missing some paints I need to finish him, so while those are on the way, I thought I’d knock out some minis that would be easier for me to just crank out.

Beast, having a really straightforward paint scheme, was fun to paint and painted up really quickly. I tried to add some texture to his fur by making lots of tiny scratch-like brush strokes and I think in some areas the affect worked really well.

I also managed to finish Wolverine, so I’m posting him next.
