Black Orcs! And the Prodigal Lineman
Crikey it’s been a while since I’d completed any minis. Anyway here we are with the four Black Orcs/Blockers/Bigguns and the lineman I’d lost. My biggest sacrifice to the carpet god in, well in ever.
That’s the regular orcs complete. I’ve a few more things to add but a welcome milestone.
Blitzers!
Blitzers. My least favourite mini so far. The pose is great: super-dynamic. It’s partly that there’s one pose, and partly the masks they’re wearing. These are pretty minor gripes – I do still like the minis.
For the former I have given them all different hair colours, using adaptations of the team colours. I wish I’d chopped off one or two topknots but the different colours will do.
For the latter I’ll just have to live with it. I think I just want the greenskins to look, well greener.
Three More
I’d intended another four but dropped one and lost it – the biggest ever sacrifice to the carpet monster. He’s since showed up and will join a later batch.
I’m happier with the bases: the patchier grass and smaller tufts are more what I was after. I’m also happier with the matt finish on the rims (rimming is important) I’ll most likely keep the initial four but fix their basing.
First Few
I reckon Blood Bowl gives me a good chance of getting a game when I move city. I have a very well painted Orc team from the 90s (when I could see better and, y’know, be arsed) but I’ve not used it in about 10 years, it’s now just too precious to game with. I’m kicking off my C21 Blood Bowl experience with … more Orcs!
I’ve been to a couple of ice hockey games and have tried to nod towards the Manchester Storm (working title: the Slamchester Stormboyz).
The Lloyd shot particularly relevant to Blood Bowl with the standard of turning a model around when it’s activated.
These may end up as test models (there’s a reason the thrower is #2, not #1 – I expect the next one to be better). I like the paint scheme, but want a few changes to the basing. I didn’t want a pristine Premier League or NFL pitch but may have gone too far the other way with the tufts.
I’ll use fewer/smaller with the next batch and see whether I want to live with the difference. If I can’t I’ll try to fix the bases but I will need a second box of minis, so will have have spare throwers and linemen.
