About the Project
Necromunda was my first wargame i owned as a 12 year old in the 90’s. As an adult im more into simple rules and cheap games, with that in mind im sculpting my own 15mm minis and using one page rules gangwars supplement for gdff. This is going to take me a while.

Phyrr cat for Escher
The Orlock have a Robo Doggo, so it was only fair that the Escher got a pet.
Say hello to the ugliest alien kitty you’ve ever seen. They have no name yet that is not my place to name someone else’s pet, plus I always name my pets after anime characters so I should be banned from naming anything probably.
The second pic is to give a better shot of the ruin my wife built; it is the first piece of terrain made specifically for this project! Very excited to share with you all.
Ratskin scout and The first of a new Gang... AshWasteNomads leader conversion
I did a quick shoddy sculpt of a ratskin scout with a stubgun and gave the impression he is reaching for a second pistol under his giant rat cape.
The other mini is My leader for the third gang in this project (who knows how many there will be eventually, probably four) I converted this Ashwastes nomad from a 15mm Japanese Sohei monk I sculpted a few months ago.
The monk was part of a brief go at playing Ronin in 15mm scale. It was a 15mm version of a 28mm sculpt I did many years ago which was actually the third thing I ever sculpted. The metal 15mm samurai I purchased for that project I realised might make great bases for future conversions for this project; atleast for the Ash waste nomads. Hopefully that will speed things up a little bit.
The terrain they are stood on is made by my wife who likes to make all our terrain.
Finally painted some of my sculpts!
I kept the paint scheme close to the official box art for the real minis.
One because I have the paints anyway and also because I want them to be recognisably as Orlock as possible.
Because the goggles are so small I just painted them bright blue to stand out.
I tried to paint some highlights but I don’t know if I did it too subtle for this scale maybe. I’m not a good painter but I have a steady hand for things like dotting eye balls not that they can be seen at this scale but I know they have eyes and that is strangely reassuring!
The Escher are also keeping to the new official scheme of yellow and purple. I’m pretty happy with how the hunter with bow came out. The squat I don’t think is up to scratch but I may go back and try improve the painting a little.
I went for a dark purple for the escher’s trousers so I could have a high contrast for the highlights.
This escher heavy/champion with heavy stubber was the second mini I sculpted and technically the most challenging. The only one I managed to sculpt relatively normal sized hands for too!
I took a lot of time trying to make sure the hair stood out without being too bright or too many highlights.
None of these having basing done yet. I’m not really sure how to approach it as the bases are so tiny. Maybe just paint some sand grey to give a rubble look but that seems a little boring.
Orlock leader with servo fist and boltgun
I based this sculpt off of my old orlock leader from 28mm Necromunda. I swapped out the bolt pistol for a bolt gun at some point but it was the only picture i could find. I like how the servo fist turned out and cant wait to paint it with the cables going into the arm.
The first few pics of the gallery show how I make the minis. With some 0.6mm steel wire i cut two roughly 6cm pieces off. One gets folded in half and twisted half way down using two pliers. You are left with a hoop for a head (where the first pair of flat head pliers were covering the wire). The second piece of wire is looped around some needle nose pliers. The loop here is big enough to go over the head loop of the bodies wire piece. This is attached with greenstuff and when it cures you can bend the arms accordingly.
normally this is just a blob big enough to join the loops but as the armature is so tiny it doubles as bulking for the torso. Then the rest of the mini is covered in a thin greenstuff layer. Then sculpting proper begins! Leaving bare wire for the hand that is holding a weapon. The boltgun and hand holding it are wildly large but its a cool mini.
Two more escher minis done
Hi there I have sculpted two more eschers. Both are gangers, one is tall and lean with plasma pistol and laspistol, the other is short and stocky with a plasmagun.
I really hope I haven’t based them on anyone I know, they are a wee bit ugly. I tried to make a post explaining how I sculpt these minis, maybe it is best it didn’t upload because I photographed them up to the point of being posed wire armatures then forgot to photograph anything until they were finished.
I’m very happy with how the plasma gun came out. The minis themselves aren’t super inspiring but they are essentially chaff hah hah. I’ve been on a mad one lately, hadn’t sculpted in ages then did about 6 minis in a month. So lots more to come soon !
Orlock wrecker (fantasy 15s into new greens part 2)
So I am super pleased with this conversion. It took alot more effort than the elf or dwarf. The dwarf to squat although more involved than the elf to escher was essentially just bulking up the armour. The orlock involved completely re doing the head and integrating wire framework for the jetpack then sculpting the jetpack. The poision knife became a combat knife easily enough as did the crossbow pistol to handflamer. I added melta charges and a small remote detonator. One page rules dont have mechanics for this but i thought it looked cool. Tried to copy the black guy on the g dubs boxset and will deffo paint his hair yellow demolition man wesley snipes style lol i also sculpted a robo dog or cyber mastiff good boi. He has a very defined poopy hole/usb charging port. The scale on this dog like the rest of this project is criminally wild but i love his big stoopid face.
Escher huntress and squat with hammer. Converting my fantasy 15s in new necromunda greens
Theres a cool one page rules game called opportunity window (or something like that) thats co op and there is a target to assassinate with rules regarding noise made and the guards reactions etc.
I sculpted some 15mm greenstuff minis to play it. I never got around to playing as i was trying to clone and paint 20+ squidmen guards and lost motivation after 6. I converted the dwarf into a squat, the elf into an escher huntress and the duck mask tricorn hat guy into an orlock wrecker with handflamer. Ill put the orlock in a seperate post. These were actually my first 15mm i sculpted. I started with 28 then did several 10mm for minihammer/warmaster. 15 is my favourite scale to play and hobby with now.
The arrow quiver was easy to do and fun: basically when the gstuff is still “wet” i cut a 0.6mm copper wire into several short matching lengths. These i pushed into the cylinder of greenstuff so there was a good amount left sticking out. With these in place i pushed it onto the (then) elf lady’s back and smoothed and shaped the quiver. When putty had cured the copper wires were stuck firmly in place and the quiver was secured to the body of the green. This meant i could finish the arrows, i just smooshed a blob of g-stuff on top of the copper wires and then used tools to make the rough form of overlapping arrow feathers . I chopped off her elf ears and sculpted a gasmask. When re painted it should look bit more eacher like. Maybe the clothes are still a bit too fantasy, i may come back to make a few additions later before repaint.
Orlock heavy with heavy bolter and escher leader with plasma pistol and chainsword
Began this with a mind to post it as a project and it is on going ive been meaning to post this stuff for weeks. Disclaimers aside I love heavy bolters alot and went for a drum magazine style kinda how russian smgs looked old fashioned or gangster to ww2 american troops i think underhivers should have drum fed magazines (i guess the new orlock do anyways) i put a spare hanging off his backpack. I based the escher off a pfp chibi artwork i commisioned for my missus’s birthday back when we played 28mm necromunda. It was done by my instagram buddy who left instagram a while ago. Hes not got great mental health so i hope hes okay. His name was roboboover and he had his glooms spite gitz published in white dwarf incase anyone knows him. I sent him a photo of my wifes leader i painted for her for inspo for the artwork and that in turn inspired this sculpt.
Orlock Juve and Escher Heavy
I have sculpted some 15mm stuff before but they are very chunky. I thought id lean into my limitations to get a real giant hands and heads heroic look. I started with the Juve dual weilding stubguns to get an idea of how things will scale up next to him. I wanted him to have a billy the kid vibe. The Escher with heavy stubber was next and i went for space buns and buns of steel, a real female body builder. The weapons and hands have always been a challenge to sculpt and hopefully will inprove. I am trying to combine original and modern necromunda conventions: orlocks have modern goggles and shin armour but varied stubgun designs for example.
