About the Project
OK first time I’m trying this in a long long time. Surprising my little gaming group this Christmas with Moonstone. I’m doing a not so secret, Secret Santa. I’m picking up three factions for moonstone wrapping them up in three mystery packages. So that during our Christmas game we can randomly pick a faction. That bit’s easy purchase the boxes wrap them up and then on the dat we Ro Sham Bo for the privilege of first choice. Obviously to play we will need a gaming table to play on. That’s where we begin. I’m aiming for a 3x3 dark fantasy ruined/ghost town themed table. But obviously plans can change.

A lazy Sunday
After starting on the Inn I started three more of these back drop buildings. Scenery/ buildings to sit at the edge of the board to give it a bit more atmosphere and help set the scene. I also started on another set of steps.
The Inn of the Drunken Gobbo!
Going to work on some building fascia’s that will sit along the edge of the board. The first is going to be an Inn.
I wish I could stick to the plan.
So I’m sat looking at the board and I think to myself I want a bit of nature to be making its way into the area. I looked through a pile of random stuff I had stored away. Left over sheet of card, polystyrene packaging and some foam card and decided to throw it together and see what I think.
Foamcard to the outside edge so it keeps it’s shape and protects the polystyrene the other sides will be textured up and painted so that’ll protect it
I’ve built a wall around sections of this corner piece, eventually the polystyrene is going to be textured up and painted to look like a woodland/forest floor.
Also painted up the board bit shiny because it’s still a little wet hopefully when it dries I’ll like the look of it and get on to some drybrushing. Adding more to the playing area.
So I brush on some fine sand into the board it fills some of the gaps between the flagstones on the board. After brushing it on I then gave it a spray of 50/50 water and PVA to seal it in. I know there’s better mixtures I could use for fixing it in place but honestly I’ve other things that will be layered over it and will fix it in place. You’ll notice there’s the 2’x2’ flat area in the middle of the board. Two reasons for that I’ve played Bushido before and would like to get back into it again so it’s the right size for that game. Also cutting up lots of little squares in XPS foam is REALLY!! boring and tedious. If I can find it I’ll add a picture of an old Bushido board I made many years ago so you can see the sort of thing’s I produce. WIP
I’ve been trying to update for a while but technology hates me. As I get to grips there will be more coming including some explanation of what I’m up to. Like why is the last picture so freaking small?!!
