Blood Angles?? What do you do on the corners??
The Stormraven Gunship by 52€… Good!!
You see what happens when I take a day off… spelling and punctuation go out the window!!!
It’s like I’m some sort of guardian angle! 😛
BoW Andy
personally, i think the storm raven looks horrible. it looks like a boxy republic gunship from star wars. i like the republic gunship, but that is sleek and doesn’t look overpowered, whereas this is too boxy and looks like it has too many weapons littered over the hull, like something orks would use.
Lies! GW never takes inspiration from other companies, the Republican Gunship was actually stolen from GW, they had an early concept out about 10 years ago blah blah blah….
As chunky as it seems the stormraven should be a fun kit to build/paint…in GK colors 🙂
No it is the right colours, it just needs some plasticard, wheels, and some evil sunz symbols!
I for one am a fan of the Storm Raven. And after reviewing the sprues on the GW website I’ve noticed the blood angels icons are stick on, not molded in. It can be built without vanilla. I am preying to the God Emperor that White Dwarf release an update allowing this wonderful ship to be used by any and all chapters legitimately. Makes more money sense anyways.
Well with the Grey Knights getting re-released it could be in there since they supposedly have it, but as for other chapters I doubt you would be able to use it legitimately
oh well, guess its time to paint up some green Grey Knights and call them “Terminator Honour Guard for Tu’shan”
Hopefully a few of them will still be able to take Thunder Hammers and Storm Shields. Then they can all fly around in a big green (hopefully dedicated transport) Storm Raven.
I’ll have one in my Salamanders Army yet.
that will not happen at least for as long as games workshop keeps its own fluff accurate. meaning the storm raven is used only by the BA at least as of when the codex came out.
Good news for you then, Febs white dwarf is posting rules for the storm raven so any chapter can use the storm raven, Grey knights included, a GW regional manager told me all about it
I have always wanted a toaster in those colors. I’m glad that GW has finally made my dreams come true.
Black box unboxing vid:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJb2qKu1zNo&feature=sub
that voice it creeps me out for some reason
Ugh… black fingernails… that voice…
I kept expecting to hear “And next time, we will be unboxing my prrrecccioussss…”
The thing I noticed on the storm raven is that the pilots’ helmets look really cool, as for the ship itself well… 😛
Furioso looks like an excellent kit with the options to make all 3 types in BA. Top marks for that one. The battleforce is alright, not bad.
The Furioso Dreadnought looks great, and for the price you’re getting quite a lot of extras for a secong dreadnought as well. I’m glad that GW adds more pieces to their models (unless it’s a bike) so that there’s room to customize it to the individuals liking. The Stormraven doesn’t look awful, although I think GW could have had a better design if they based they transports off of real world military vehicles and not home appliances
MWHahahahahahahahahahaha!
That’s the sound of evil laughter on the battlefield.
The Stormraven is the imperium’s new secret weapon, the enemies are incapacitated by uncontrollable laughter.
Can’t believe it’s for real!
Can’t wait to see some conversions.
The one thing they dont show is how a dread attaches to the Stormraven. From the spru pics its hard to tell if there is anything. What I can see is that the guns look like they are able to hot-swap with minimal grief.
Looks Like I’ll be gypsy rigging some magnets onto these new plastic dread kits and stormravens so they can be attatched and deployed easilly, but I must say I love the alternate turret options, they look a lot less flimbsy than the lascannons to me.
I’m still waiting on the Giant Bat cavalry though 😛
Warning – Incomming Opinion from a Non-40K Fan
Is that Blood Angels Battalion Box not just “Vanilla Marines” with stickers on?
Is that not quite good value?
A 10 man Tractical Squad + 10 man Assault Squad + Rhino for £48… someone run the numbers… what’s the saving on that?
I’m not in the studio and all of BoW are busy making shows for you sorry lot… help me out guys… is that good value or not?
BoW Andy
Gah… I typed tractical instead of tactical!
The miserable internet filters in this hell-hole won’t let me edit it… woe is me! 🙁
BoW Andy
I think its as good a value as we will ever get from GW. One thing to remember though is that 5 of those assault marines will be death companied up. That doesnt really bother me, but it might some other people.
Well in Canada The box set is $120
So:
Tactical Squad 42.00
Assault Squad 35.75
Death Company 39.50
Rhino 39.50
Total 156.75
So it is basically a buy 3 get one free for the box set.
From a former Blood Angels player, Yes it is a vanilla marines battleforce with the Scout squad and Combat squad replaced with a Death company squad… I would by the Space Marines battleforce over it. I NEVER use death company.
IMO death company is over priced for what they do.
Agreed, DC are cool, but I would rather have the scouts. I am disappointed by the battleforce. It is very… vanilla. Couldn’t they have put a Dread instead of the Rhino? Or more Assault marines and less tacticals?
or you just do what every one else does and mix DC and assault marines together to make 10 BA looking assault marines
The kit is Tactical Marine box, Assault Marine box, Rhino box and Death Company box. Basically it means you get the Assault Marines for free.
am i the only person who thinks the stormraven is quite cool. I mean yeah its not the prettiest thing in the world (or should i say universe) but it has a certain ruggedness and heavy feel to it. perfect for a war machine. it does look space marine and i dont know how u arrived at the conclusion that it looked like a toaster with wings? It looks more like a microwave with wings,
I like it myself, it doesnt have to look practical aslong as it gets the job done I dont mind.
You are not alone. The model is quite nice IMO. In the end even those who dislike it will still be buying a model or two, specially if it can be used by all SM chapters.
I DON´T KNOW WHAT THEY EXPECTED…….AS THE FLUFF SAYS……ITS THE THUNDERHAWK KID BROTHER!!!!!!…….YOU CAN SEE THE RESEMBLANCE…..
You are not the only one – I really like it, and plan to paint one up even though I dont really play BA.
look at the blood angels sprue on the website, there’s some additional parts on it for example, a sword piercing a book, that’s the chapter symbol for Grey Knights hmmm…..
I’m pretty sure that we will see this in the next vanilla marine codes
Word is White Dwarf will include a “plain” Stormraven for use in any SM army.
Stormraven Looks like crap.
Stormraven $110 AU!!!! $7 more then a Landraider…..guess what I’m not buying 😛
Bah! I was hoping it was a 10 man assault squad with no jump packs instead of a 10 man tac squad..
Although you might say it looks horrible and clunky and boxy, what Space Marine vehicles dont look that way? It fits in perfectly with the design of the other SM vechiles perfectly.
It’s just a shame they’re all horrible looking.
You could say that about the IG vehicles but they get the Valkyrie….
BoW Justin
They have their own style. It’s similar to Sm for sure, but they still have a slightly (and sometimes very different) style. The Valkrie fits for them, its slim and carrys alot of guys in flak armour, not really suited for transporting the emperors finest.
I think that the furioso is the best of them.
Yet more Space Marines. Woo… Excitement? What’s that again?
The Stormraven – if the turret didn’t look like a child’s “heroic scale” blob on top, with the arch over the back to make its arc of fire practically a straight line and the troop’s hold went further back under the wings, it would be immensely improved and look similar to a vehicle, suited to war and more akin to the Thunderhawk. As is, it looks like a child’s toy. Lastly, why it would cost £2.90 more than a Land Raider is ridiculous…
Dreadnaught – Not really got any comments except for asking why this comes with ALL weapon options, for all three BA dreadnaughts and came out before the Chaos Space Marine one which comes with unusable equipment, is horrendously old and requires conversion from an ordinary Space Marine one, whereas this kit doesn’t?
Battleforce – As I first said, where is the excitement? Could it be more bland? It’s some Space Marines with a bog-standard transport, some Space Marines with bog-standard jet-packs and some Space Marines that have gone emo… All of that, when you could get an ordinary Space Marine one and have that smidge more variation (although also quite bland). Why not give Daemons a Battalion/Battleforce box – three plastic core units and other plastic units (like Bloodcrushers – even one or two in the box, if need be) means they can get away with it…
Apologies, the following is a slightly off-topic rant about new releases. You may as well skip it 😉 – Ultimately, new releases are getting boring. For Fantasy, it’s been Skaven since the new edition came out and for 40K it’s always been Space Marines, apart from the waited-for-for-far-too-long Dark Eldar. In fact, Space Marines have their codex, Black Templars, Blood Angels, Dark Angels, Space Wolves and, you could include, Chaos Space Marines (more blandness, a couple of other things, but even those are largely bland), Daemonhunters (being replaced and slightly different) and Sisters of Battle (essentially female Space Marines, but still slightly different). That’s 5-8 codexes of the same ruddy thing. Other armies: Imperial Guard, Necrons, Tyranids, Eldar, Dark Eldar, Orks and I can’t think of any others, but feel like there’s one or two more. Essentially, around 1/3-1/2 of the stuff is sodding Space Marines…
Ouch, harsh bu fair I would say.
And I think the Blood Raven is ok but it does indeed look slightly like a childs toy, not a grim machin of death.
damn spelling mistakes!
yep that chaos dreadnought is arguably the most needed update for any model, it seemed old when I was playing like 8 years ago or something ridiculous!
OH GOD!!!!
OH GOD!
THAT IS UGLY!
that is bloody well ugly! I MUST BLEACH THE EYES! THAT VEHICLE IS HIDEOUS!!!!! Damn you GW for coming out with a model so ugly that I will have to combine it with a valkyrie to make it unoffensive! damn that i sUGLY
Blood Angels again? Didn’t they get a new update a whole lot of new, awesome models a couple of months ago? Ever since they did, my local club has been full of them. Wherever you look it’s red. Not even Space Wolves go that many new collectors or the new Dark Eldar. I also doubt that the Grey Knights will as big as Blood Angels. Wlist we’re still on the subject of who’s getting new models again. The Skaven also got new models. No other Fantasy Race (with exeption of Beastmen) got updated.
yes, they did but every new release has an second wave that takes a few months (due to traveling through the warp :p) so just sit back and relax. GW plans will be revealed in due time we just don’t know when or what.
If GW really comissioned that piece of ugly I question the validity of those plans
That guys a freak. And not in a cool way!
If he was unboxing some chemical weapons he may be cool but I couldnt stand the guy for a conversation never mind a game.
IS NOT A GUY IS A LADY……..SHE HAS HER OWN PAINTING YOU TUBE CHANEL……..I HAD TO CHEK IT OUT BECAUSE I WAS ALLSO REALLY FREAKED OUT!!!!!…….
Nice. All hail the flying toaster: its a flying box that shoots microwaves…. it’s a flying toaster. Furioso looks FANtastic. All in all, good job GW.
What else do you think a flying tank looks like? Liked the bf to tell you the truth and love the dreadnoguht and stormraven.
What do I expect it to look like? I expect it to look better. Not saying it looks bad, just isn’t anything to write home about. Still, I look forward to painting it god since I have always dreamed of the day when I could own my very own golden toaster.
I can’t imagine GW not making the stormraven available for everyone. They won’t be able to resist the additional sales of a £42 kit. A piece of fluff will be written explaining how the BA decided to be nice and let all the other chapters have access to their beloved ship. If this does happen there will be one in my templar army for sure. Dare I say it but I don’t just like it, I think it looks awesome.
The new stormraven is cute, but no where the standard GW had release past models. Looks like a crappy attempt, by GW, to copy the conversions players been creating since the codex came out.
It does come with all the weapon selections, which is nice, as I’m quite tires of creating twin-linked las cannons for valkies.
I’m agreeing with a previous poster, its probably appealing to ork players who will either make it a looted wagon or a fighta~bomba from the previous evil suns listing.
Love the new dreads, and I’m sure DA players will be interested in them too.
Not sure on the battlion set, as I really don’t find them that good.
I saw a reference to DC in an earlier post, what do these initials refer to please 🙂
