Big Stompy Creatures Arrive For Wild West Exodus
December 18, 2015 by stvitusdancern
If you're the type of gamer that likes to have the biggest models out on the table, then you should be pretty excited to see the new kids for Wild West Exodus.
Now keep in mind that Wild West Exodus is 35mm, and look at the size difference between the creature and the character on the table!
This week's models include: King Scarab, Scarab, Skinwalker, and Wendigo...
Whether you're looking for creepy-crawly, or just plain big and stompy, these models are sure to please!
Will you be adding any of these big players to your games?

They look like some nasty monsters. Can be used in all sorts of games.
Just one question. Is WWX a western game?
Yup, could definitely use those critters elsewhere 🙂 . Very nice.
WWX is a western game with steampunk elements added, with one faction replacing steampunk with supernatural. One of the new factions I think will be western/steampunk/supernatural, and there’s an alien faction coming as well. But it’s still primarily a western game.
Thanks for the lowdown as the models above look nothing related to western, rather sci-fi instead. But if they have an alien element then that explains quite a bit.
The game advertises itself as Sci-fi Western, not really steampunk (though I guess a case can be made for such).
To me this “game” is much like many of the other “games” on the market (Dark Age is a good example) … I never, ever, have seen a single person play it anywhere at any game shop (and I frequent gaming stores throughout the Western US … Seattle … the Bay Area … LA … Vegas …) … yet these guys keep producing minis. I’m sure there are markets where there is organized play and I’m sure there is a full community around it (just go to their website) but Wargods, Dark Age, etc. are like that too … there are a few hundred to a few thousand people who play the game. The rest of the sales (and maybe a majority of the sales?) must then come from people who just buy the minis for other uses … to use with GW games … for RPGs … just to collect/paint/model …
From the get go I have been impressed with the minis in this range. The setting is pretty ripped off/unoriginal (Shadowlands, Deadlands, generic weird west ..) but still cool. Clearly these guys were like “what isn’t a current mini game” and they just plugged a niche in the market. The price point of the minis … given they are somewhat specific weird west-esq … has kept me from buying in. I haven’t heard good or bad things about the rules, so I assume they are adequate but not amazing. Likely designed to drive sales of the figs … like GW or PP, etc. by that I just mean that you have a model where there is a constant/regular flow of new units/factions that prompts sales growth. So the new stuff will be cool/unique/slightly more powerful … and people keep buying … not bad … just been there done that, don’t have the time nor the inclination anymore.
So I guess for me I’m waiting for a “must have” model. So far I don’t see one. Their big stuff is forgeworld expensive and their standard generic weird west models are generally slightly more expensive than privateer press and even much of the GW range. So I keep taking a pass.
I’d love to see them break out and become the next big thing, I’d love to walk into a game store and see 20 people playing a tournament. I am still waiting for that “must have” moment. Maybe in 2016 …
Wow, that big monster in the scale pic would look good on a Gates of Antares battlefield.
Big and stompy indeed.
