What’s in the Box: Firefly, Prime Axiom & Anarchy Basing Bits!

Ok guys, time for a bumper bonanza of cool stuff! First up, Justin has been joined by Mike to have a look at the Prime Axiom for the Convergence of Cyriss. This is one big, awesome looking colossal for your games of Warmachine.
Then Nick pops in for a look at one of the most highly anticipated games of the year. That's right, the guys have gotten their hands on a copy of Firefly the Board Game and couldn't wait to give you all a quick look at what your getting in the box, before running off with it for a few games to learn how to play. Keep an eye out for an epic demo game later in the month.
Lastly Justin has brought Brian from Anarchy Models to have a look at some of the Basing Bits he has to really make your models pop on the battle field.

Do Anarchy have a US distributor? Those crystals look great but shipping from the UK can be bad for small purchases. I want to use some to dress up my terrain for Relic Knights.
Cool stuff and I agree that model needs a real flying base unless he’s just resting on that rock! And as for the Firefly game…. they’re going to sell a lot of these even if the game turns out not to be great… people want their Serenity NOW!
The Firefly game is shiny, and those Anarchy basing bits are very pretty.

Prime Axiom is a fantastic model. Looks and rules wise.
I was a demonstrator for the Firefly Game at Gen Con…. The game IS awesome…. After conducting fourteen two-hour demos…. I really got to know the game.
The money included in the game is very high quality and stands out as the best of a very well made game…
Those planning to puchase the game should purchase a toy dinosaur as well, especially if they plan to give it as a gift…..
I would like that colossal too time to shop for paint … a lot of paint

I’m glad to see the rock the Prime Axiom is sitting on is a separate piece, that will make it much easier to replace.

It’s odd — I have a clear favourite Gargantuan (Mountain King), but really cannot decide which Colossal I’d most like to grab. Conquest, Stormwall, Galleon, and Prime Axiom all look like they’d be a lot of fun to paint.

Wow. That Firefly game looks superb. It even makes me want to investigate the TV series.
I had discovered the opportunity to demo for Gale Force 9,,,, and had to watch some episodes on Netflix….. The series is really good…. there’s not to many episodes to commit to (unfortunately)….
I don’t Netflix but have ordered a DVD.

Great unboxings, and also sweet prize, I´m thinking you could even change those stones the Pime axiom use to stick it to the base and replace it with a big cristal…
As for new unboxings, would love to see some of the new Avatar’s of War boxes, new Dwarves and Corrupters look awesome.

I’m really liking Firefly, more how I would paint them than rules and whatnot if I’m honest, but it looks like a very nice product all around, extra marks go for the single player scenario to help you learn the game, I like that a lot.
Also those basing things, for the right army they are great, love the idea of lighting the columns, green crystals with purple LEDs would give an interesting effect I think.
Firefly looks really cool but I suppose I’d be happy with a great new model and some funky Crystals. They could be really interesting to use for terrain or objective markers.
I here the firefly boardgame is awesome and the axion look really nice except for the base
I personally do think, that those crystals look quite the part… really perfect for the “comical” style of malifaux and in green pretty usefull for necs, too. The firefly game i’m not especially interessted in, but i did not watch any of those episodes and there is to much to watch right now.
Wow man The prime Axiom is incredible looking, one huge model too! I like those Anarchy bases too, they would be great for Necrons.

I like the model and general style of Convergence. What I don’t like is the rock under the Prime Axiom. I hope I can model it without it.
The axiom is great looking, I much prefer it to the heavy jacks they have.
The Prime Axiom is amazing and it looks like Gale Force 9 did a great job on the Firefly game. Can’t wait for the Firefly demo!!!

It is slow when learning the game…… but once played plays a bit more quickly
Players can get bored if they’re not attempting to attain the objectives…..which consequently pro;ongs the game…

those crystals are pretty sweet, I like the look of them and I think they would go well with some of the terrain from gale force 9. you could do a whole crystal planet setup,

I love unboxings, I watched all of the Khador ones when I first started out and when they were inked they were cool (to be honest I was a proper n00b and thought you could probably get away with an army like that :S). The prime axiom is a great model, I think that, some jacks and and the angels would make a striking arc deco army

Here’s a little blurb I wrote about the Firefly Game on a local blog I Mod for…..
I demo’ed the game in fourteen two-hour sessions…. The components to the game are very solid….. that’s the first thing that will catch a gamer’s eye… the money being the sweetheart of it all…. some countries would be jealous of such currency…
For players familiar with the game, it will take about two hours… I suspect new player will take three or four… The set-up is somewhat complicated, but allows for streamlined play…
There are methods for selecting captains, ships, and starting locations….. Morality is a consideration, as players are encouraged to “Aim to Misbehave”; in this game there is a clear difference between immoral and illegal, though some actions in the game require both immoral and illegal action .
Players of the demos thwarted the semi-random consequences of the Reaver and Alliance ships, by sending it out of contentious areas and therefore, out of play . We did have one group that did the opposite, the Reavers killed thirty-six passengers and crew in one game .
You Fly, Buy, Work or Deal as your actions in the game; you get to perform two actions in your turn, though you cannot do the same action twice….
You travel through the Verse to hire crews and acquire equipment, deal with Patrons to get jobs. travel to perform these jobs… the legal ones are generally easy, but do not pay well… Illegal jobs are risky, and difficult and frequently immoral…. but pay well, often very well…. Do not forget, your crew get their cut of the action, or they’ll get disgruntled; if they are moral, forced to do immoral acts, they get disgruntled…. disgruntle them twice, they walk away….. It is possible for the Captain to get disgruntled, if he gets disgruntled twice, he fires the crew!!!!
It is advised to acquire a plastic toy dinosaur for game play as it is a crucial element to the game…. a cardboard substitute is included, though the designers reccomend the replacement….
I am really curious, how firefly plays, it looks like it could be nice and deep. i wouldn`t be too sad, if I find it in our gaming club in the next few weeks 😀

loving the crystals may actually grab some for with my khador…but which colours? and that prime axiom looks better every time i see it but agree the little rock seems out of place.
