Army Painter RuneWars Hobby Weekend Live Blog – Saturday
Catching Up With Rob
We find out how community stalwart, Rob, has been getting on with his models that he has been painting up this weekend.
It has been interesting seeing how he works on entirely different techniques.

Nice saga miniature, well done .
Like the Saga mini very nice paint job. Ben looks to be having fun in the background.
Definitely enjoying the content Justin!
The Saga dude looks sweet!
Has been an interesting weekend.
I’ve always wondered about how much a magnifying glass like that would help.
Thanks for all the updates. I refresh each time I walk past the PC and there is new stuff each time!
Rob You will have your weekender and Sunday Nighter !
This is fun the watch
Brilliant, @commodorerob always try’s to keep a low profile and he has been busted this time cheers @dignity 🙂
Good looking Warlord Rob hope you get a good few games of Saga in on Sunday afternoon.
Can’t imagine how hard painting 6mm minis would be.
They are easy
That Macbeth miniature was ace!
Have got a magnifying glass and it helps with the fine detail as long as you have a steady enough hand and can tell the actual distance between the brush and the model, may have messed up a few early models with paint in the wrong place.
I need to get a magnifying glass… i am getting old and my eyes suck
commodore rob does like his 6mm, good to see him
I’m with him. No point rushing a model if you’re not going to be happy with it.
i believe i’Ve commented on that saga warlord before … and the freehand on the shield is just amazing.
Any yes! blue for the eyes! Thank you 😉
A Saga mascot to keep the Skeletons in line.
Love the characters we have in the BoW community.
Wow! Fantastic freehand on that shield!
The saga mini looks great
Good stuff. Love the saga miniature.
Nice saga warlord
Any chance of getting a picture with the eyes painted blue?
When i have painted then i will post them
I always use a magnifier
It’s great to see that someone is taking the extra time to make the models even better. Rob will still be on time with finishing the army, so it’s all good.
The saga miniature looked really good.
Looking good
Love that shield on the Saga figure.
Good looking models. Nice to see familiar faces too.
The atmosphere seems so relaxed, maybe save for a future bootcamp 😉
Nice shield
Great stuff. Still not sold on the metallics though. They look a bit thicker on the models than the other paints.
I think I’m a bit like Rob and I don’t know if I will be able to paint everything on a weekend.
Excellent free-hand Saga figure.
My eyes are pretty bad and I’d love to make use of a magnifier but, sadly, I already have an issue with depth perception and using a magnifier only seems to exacerbate the problem And it’s hard enough painting pupils as it is without missing the mark and applying them to a dude’s forehead.
Don’t diss the 6mm crowd with blob comments 🙂 I, for one, enjoy the mass look you can achieve with the little guys.
Great job Rob!
I want to play Saga, but none of my friends do…
Nice scheme
@commodorerob that’s a nice paint scheme there and I completely agree with the centre piece ocd!!
Rob’s army is looking good. You always want you heroes and HQs looking the best..
That freehand is cool
I think there’s another paint brand ther and some food to still strong as your warlord, in fact nice job rob, I want to build too my saga army I’m more a crusader one or a normand, someday it will. Have fun!
nice paints!!! I love the hobby weekend, I love you 😀
That’s a really impressive looking warlord. Nice work on the skeles too.
nice to see diff ideas
SAGA boot camp soon! 😉
I like the way you bring in everyone at the bootcamp onto the videos. You also have a good way of making them feel comfortable and drawing them out.
A lot of very nice people painting really cool. Love the Saga miniature, the freehand was really good.
the magnifying lamp is a must or a shit hot guide dog as you get older/blinder for the details.
Goes away for a hobby and Runewars weekend and takes Saga with him @commodorerob your man after my own heart
Great progress!
Yeah.
Saga boot camp?
@commadorerob, next time you’re over we have to get a few Saga games in, that Warlord looks excellent, well done mate
Great work on that Scottish warlord!
Purple looks nice on these undead minis.
I like the idea of doing the grunts with the army painter method, quickly and then putting time and effort into the hero/leader models.
The viking looks great
I loved this stuff!
Skeletor is really making a comeback in 2017!
What are they doing?
I used a mag then got bi-focals… then went back to mag…
I feel you on the eyes, mate. Mine have degraded, and it is harder to see details, and I’ve lost much of my depth perception. It makes painting more… interesting.
Lovely paintjob on the SAGA chap @commodorerob.
