4Ground Fabled Realms Terrain Talk With Gerry

Gerry the giant has escaped the clutches of the village people and we're checking out the fabulous terrain pieces around the Beasts of War Gaming hall.

With the mats from GameMat EU, Deep Cut Studio and 4Ground terrain buildings I think we've achieved something special for our Beta Testers.

What's your favourite terrain pieces?

– Snake Plyskin’s slightly more nerdy brother…I thought you were dead….

avernos

Yeah. You and everybody else

greentree

The tables look amazing, obviously, but I’m really liking those wanted posters I’m seeing all around you guys. Think it would be great if 4Ground started slipping a few of them in as freebies with orders from their website.
They add to the whole world building and immersion of the Fabled Realms.
Love it.

daegren

Looking forward to seeing a recap on Gerry’s game.

That is hands down the best table in the main room.

dane001

Im very much with gerry on this one. Find an easy way into the game and the rest will come with time. I do love the stoic arms and the backstory of why its called what it is, just wish I could pursuade my wife that its a nessesary purchase! Id love to get my mordanburg state guard defending it from an incursion.

caledor2

Some furniture to go in the buildings would be nice.

silverfox8

So I like the fabled realms buildings for sure but with my helms deep project I can’t but help look at the Norse table for the demos and have dreams of building Edoras!

snowyak

That would be awesome.

while

We’re getting that for Edoras for sure!

aermord

Really nice looking table!

golonka

The devil is in the details. The leafs around the orchards, pieces of coal in the wagon, beautiful planning and execution.

cartographer09

Wow, these tables just keep getting better. Really nice to see these amazing buildings in action vs pics on the site. Keep it up!

beetle

If I won one of the vouchers, the Stoic Arms would be the first purchase. All my Pathfinder games would start in that tavern.

thunden

Beautiful terrain. Also love the ruins and want to get my hands on a couple sets.

kantor72

Have to go with a massive generalisation and say ( genuinely ) that there is not a piece of terrain ( buildings or the incidental / scatter ) that i don’t love. The guys do an absolutely awe-inspiring job and long may it continue so this fanboy can populate my flgc’s tables with it.

samknight

Completly love the Fabled Realm houses from 4Ground! I have some of the already but will get more very soon! Also want some of the Viking houses for both Fabled Realms but also to play Saga with! 🙂 You have done an amazing job with these tables!! So inspiring!

wolf320f

great table and always great to see Gerry with all that hair hes like Ireland’s answer to Sasquatch

petey9

I agree with Gerry about the leaves and scatter pieces making the difference. A “lived in” feel is the right word for it.

snowyak

I am so happy with my 4Ground houses.
The construction of their buildings is quite addictive. haha
Not only plastic crack, there is also the MDF version.

collins

I do love the 4ground kits. I’m currently sat building my own stoic arms and its impressively mahoooosssive

mc1gamer

I’m SUCH a fan of 4ground

antiphony

The horse dung pick up cart is my most favourite piece of ‘Oh I never noticed that before’ terrain.

norgalad

Absolutely love the fabled realms terrain, had brought some ruins of daldor earlier in the year witch where very nice but the set of Mordanburg buildings I received from the Kickstarter were a pleasure to build and look fantastic, since then I have also picked up the black smith and my Lovely wife got me the Stoic Arms for Christmas, hoping to pick up the watch tower and a few more bits before the rest of the Kickstarter arrives.

bennu

The ladder in the orchard as though people were just picking the apples and then have hurried inside as battle approaches

warhammergrimace

Modem terrain has come on leaps and bounds, it’s so much easier to build a table of great looking terrain these days then back in the day when I was a teen (80’s) where we scratched built every piece. Though I really love the terrain from companies like 4ground I do feel that there is an aspect of the hobby we’re slowly loosing and that’s scratch building/kit bashing terrain. Which is why I like the videos Lloyd does on terrain building. I kinda love making terrain from bits of old crap from around the house, though I suspect the other half prefers me buying MDF terrain, as that means I’m not storing and collecting bits of old rubbish.

darnast

Feel very much the same.
One big ‘problem’ I see here is standarization in a world where soul and essence are creativity, imagination, developing ideas between your own self and a group of similar minded people or within a fictional construction as inspiration, and realizing and contributing your pojects. And that is not coming per se from the fact there are so many ready designed pieces availible.
One concern is with MDF limiting the scope of shapes and forms due to how and for what it is used. That’s basically stemming from the flat surface, angular side edge (typically 90°) and sticking to one thickness. But there’s hope people will develop more ways to utilise this material. (How about you could vary the surface, e.g. for a rough wall?)

brucelea

So many carts of dung!
How about one of dead bodies………”bring out your dead! bring out your dead”

avernos

I’m not dead, I feel haaaaappy so happy!
I think I might go for a run

zorg

all the terrain looks fab.

dervan

The wagons with the coal in them and the trail to blacksmith are just great touches

normandyfan

another awesome table

stormshriek

the whole table looks amaxing, but the carts with straw and manure are something I’ve never seen before.

rgreenparadox

Now we need a legacy system for the terrain.

jemmy

I still like the Edoras-style hall on the winter table best. It´s ever so huge and ever so epic. Well, I think I may be getting one.

basilbrush

something special… something amazing more like it

lawnor

Just how big are these people really? I’ve seen justin in real life and he’s bigger than he looks on the telly so these guys must be 8 footers.

paragon

Nice to see Gerry! I love that guy. Hope to see you around some more

avernos

oh I’ll be back….soon 😉

georgesealy

The wagons are just begging to be jumped into off the top of a building…

fireblarney

All the terrain looks great, but then again all the 4ground stuff does. Looking forward to seeing how Gerry’s game goes.

avernos

badly….very very badly XD

eddieharr

I just love 4-ground!

darthcheese

There stuff is far too awesome

redsarge

My favorite? All of them!

hargarpad

All look interesting

darnast

Gerry’s always good for fun. ^^
