Andy’s Painting Corner

Andy is one of the best painters out there and gets the job done on all manner of miniatures, both great and small. So, Sam sat in with him to talk about painting the massive Terror that you can get for Fabled Realms.

How would you approach this mighty beast?

Beautiful sculpt and model!

furios

This 3D printing are incredible.
Andy’s right this will be the future

golonka

Wonder if Andy will get another spot prize: First painted spot prize miniature-spot prize 😀

aermord

I agree that 3D printing will be the future. You download the models, customize them to your own liking and print them.

greentree

Wish I had the skills to paint half as well as this, scenery and terrain I don’t have a problem with, but minis are not my specialty.

beetle

Always carry a pack lunch.

greentree

Also nice product placement with the Pot Noodle and the Celebrations.

caledor2

It is always handy to carry a snack around.

tchrin

So the 3d Prints themselves seem a success, so the question is whether this is easily scalable and whether this pushes the price up.

brucelea

That is a really nice finish on the model, as Andy says, the better the quality, the easier it is to paint.

dane001

I really do love that model, I can’t wait for mine to turn up!! I’m definitely getting more and more excited about this game.

kantor72

” With a very rare steak on the end of a bloody long pole ” 😉 😀 . I’d go full army painter method, just to get something that terrifying to the table. With both hands full, the Terror looks as if it is softening up his lunch by beating other unfortunates to death with them.

madgolem

Cant believe that this is a printed miniature. It looks awesome.

wolf320f

Andy your a machine fella quick and good im off to sulk

petey9

I really like the hand options for that mini. You can get a very different look, without adding a ton of cost.

snowyak

Ideal for washes and not to much fidley details as in some other models companies.
Great job painting sir.

cartographer09

The sculpts are really good. Looking forward to learning more about this system.

smitty14

Nice paint work. That mini is really awesome!

collins

I should leave all my minis near Andy and he can sort them for me too haha

mc1gamer

He’s carrying lunch but looks ready to throw him lol

phoenixman

Literally a monster of a mini

bennu

Lovely looking mini

zorg

love the beast.

while

It’s been great seeing him tinkering away in the corner! His Terror is magnificent! Golden button material!

normandyfan

great painting Andy

rgreenparadox

the results you guys are getting from the 3d prints is amazing. That paint job is freaking amazing.

tosjeck

Yes, I love the idea that he carry bodies around using them as weapon and shield, and of course a little bite now and then

georgesealy

I’m really keen to see how 4ground manage scaling the 3d printing to a full production setup. It can be done – Prusa print all their own printers – fingers crossed!

lawnor

I dont understand people who go to these events and then spend all their time painting. I love painting but you can do that any time. Its a solo activity. Play more games.

suetoniuspaullinus

Thanks for questioning my sanity mate! 😉
But don’t you worry, I’ve had my fair share of gaming and socialising off camera.
If you enjoy painting you should actually try out doing this with some likeminded folks as a group activity. Beats solo painting by a country mile!!
Especially with Ben bringing you an endless supply of exciting new minis..8-)

paragon

That is completely the model I would have taken Andy! Well done.

fireblarney

Looks great!

hargarpad

Looks interesting

darnast

Nice work there!

Now we know what the ‘curse’ part in the Curse is – hydrophobic but must care not to dehydrate… 😀

How would I take on that beast?
Ideally I’d try to one-strike dead it. So I’d choose a wizard that can bast it’s brains. 😀
Otherwise lure it into a spiked pit and smash stuff on top – like rock boulders and fire bombs…
