4Ground: Fabled Realms Beta Weekend - Mordenburg Faction Chat

We sit in with Cad again to take a look at the Mordenburg Faction for the world of Fabled Realms. Are these guys one of the factions that you'd like to try out in this game from 4Ground?

How would you make your own version of the Mordenburg Guard?

“The Mordanburg State Guard protect the province of Mordanburg. They are the standing
army of the realm, their fealty sworn too the Patriach. With access to the wizards of the
Nonsuch university a squad of Guardsmen is a tough enemy to fight.”

The details on the minis are more fine than I can see now. I wish these were around 20 years ago.

waywarddarkwolf

I know what you mean mate – its somewhat depressing for us oul fogies to see whats coming out now compared to 25 years ago. All these youn-ins today – they don’t know they’re born!

waywarddarkwolf

I’m really liking the MSG. The battle wizards really appeal in particular. I cant help hearing the background and then thinking about Terry Pratchett’s disc world novels – is there a little bit of an Ankh Morpork influence going on here (unseen university / nights watch / patrician influence)?

caledor2

Sadly enough that the are so armoured but good to know. The only thing is should I share this with my brother so that he knows who his faction will work.

Im all about Mordanburg, love Raffa but most kf all love Grimvold (spelling?), was he was the stretch goal we didnt make it too on the kickstarter? I love the background behind him and the almost coming up from the ranks style (sharpe anyone?). The models are stunning too,I just feel more at home with the ‘normal’ soldiers just doing a job. Not sure of the magic yet but thats because ive not looked into it at all. I love the working together element too, lots of covering each other, definitely feels like more of a structured force than the other factions. The druken rule for the watch sounds amazing and finishes of the feel of the real military 😀

postcardpaul

these are the characters that I love most. they make me think of city guard of discworld

silverfox8

I would agree that the variety of the races is a big draw!

furios

The best faction.
It is so Pratchett’s Watch.
I love the idea of influence for legacy system.

golonka

Love the civilized orc with the pretty boots and the discworld vibe of the guards. 4ground are nailing the fantasy theme with a vibrant, enchanting and believable world.

snowyak

Awesome miniatures and great Faction.
Love the detail on the minis. Even on the rim of the boots. so cool.

aermord

The Mordenburg State Guard will most likely be my faction of choice (until the dwarven faction arrives)

guillotine

I’m gonna go with MSG as my second faction. Drunken City Watch FTW!

wolf320f

too much to choose from

wolf320f

its an overload of the gaming senses

mc1gamer

Race options are fantastic

collins

the model of ben must have a special rule for him. smack em in the ears and confuse them in a cloud of intellectual waffle! lol

ravingmad8

So much detail in the fluff and it’s nice to see that it actually translates into their rules.

warhammergrimace

I have the Cadwallon Guard set by Rackham for the old Confrontation game, sat unpainted and Not being used for anything. So I plan to build a Mordenburg warband around those guys.

warhammergrimace

Sorry I meant the Cadwallon Militia set

bennu

This sounds a fun faction to play

dervan

Now these guys really interest me

normandyfan

another great looking faction

rgreenparadox

Hi, I’m Rob. “Hi Rob” this chapter of the MAA has been disbanded due to fabled realms. We surrender.

zorg

They sound like a hard army to face up to on the field.

tosjeck

its so overwhelming for me to understand which model belongs to which faction

duster

Nice faction. Love the orc and the water mage. Hard choices ahead!

lawnor

So how does this game handle it when someone looses a few games in a row and falls behind the curve. Are they doomed for the rest of the legacy or are there systems in place to let them hold their own without dampening anyones fun?

paragon

These guys sound really nice. Are you sacrificing model count to afford all of the armor or is the trade off having the different approach to cards?

fireblarney

Another nice looking faction. I’m loving the variance between them all.

somegeezer

These are my lads.

hargarpad

looks like they have great ideas

darnast

Now you’re talking about the cards I’m getting even more torn between, yes, the Mordenburgians (Mordenburgers?) and the Brigands, erm, Mercenaries I mean… 😉
