That SW Miniatures game from WotC was pretty much CMG with ugly sculpts and bad prepaints meant to compete with WK’s Heroclix. I think that lisence has big part of X-Wing’s and Armada’s success besides of high quality sculpts and actually good prepaints is that SW lisence as everyone knows SW while only wargamers and […]

Purple was a very expensive dye, @lloyd, that’s why it’s traditionally associated with royalty. Your average legionnaire wouldn’t be in purple. As for what they did wear, as tends to be the case the evidence is very limited, and much is made of very little. I believe there are fragments of red tunics which survive, red […]

I think Star Wars would bring in some new and divert some from 40k

There’s been Star Wars miniatures for a long time. WotC had it but chose not to renew it because it wasn’t selling well enough. It was a moderate success in the 90s for West End, who only got it in the first place because GW didn’t want it. Even with X-Wing being a smash hit […]

It could well eat into 40k but then again, did LotR eat into the WFB profits? Personally I could see, short term, Star Wars outselling 40k, something which GW might not want of their flagship product. But if that’s the case they really need to start doing more to put 40k into the public eye.

If GW did go for the Star Wars IP I wonder how much it would cost them and whether it would help promote or eat into GW’s 40K sales and profits and long term would it be worth the risk

Another great show, and tongue in cheek as ever. The Dr Who film I think Lloyd was on about, was the one with Paul Mcgann playing thr Dr. The Film was ok but just didn’t quite make it for me. I will be looking in to buying one or two boxes, and they will probably […]

Sculp wise Malakov is weakest of those but I do like Elara. Buccaneer Skarre does look great.

Interesting. They are freely mixing all movies so least they are not limited by any one SW trilogy.

Those Ogres and beasts that they ride still hold up but those Frost Sabres and Yetees were never good sculpts.

I agree that now is probably the time to get on the bandwagon if you’re considering doing so but I think somehow Star Wars has sales potential even if Disney stop doing movies for a few years.

When I say it won’t last forever, I mean the big sales that are propelling X-Wing and Rebellion to the top of the charts. If I’m GW, that’s what I want to tap into by having the Star Wars license. They’re available now, but this level of interest won’t last forever. If I get the […]

I am normaly not the biggest fan of the Privateerpress minis, but the Skaare is looking nice.

GTA V might make a great board game, it’s just not something GW would want because it doesn’t lead to people buying loads of models after they bought the game. It’s more along the lines of something FFG might make. There are other licenses that do but maybe aren’t popular enough to make the amount […]
