Oh look, it's more polyminos. Wonderful.

For those who aren't aware, polyminos have become my trigger word for 2019. Every third game has a polymino placement system, and I swear I'm losing my mind. However, if you are not horribly jaded by the huge influx of shape-based games at the moment, you may be interested in a game like Tuki.

Tuki is a polymino stacking game from Next Move Games, the same publishing company which brought us the Spiel des Jahres 2018 winner, Azul. In Tuki, players are Inuit people creating inukshuks - stone structures which act as landmarks or signs for your people.

During each turn, players will roll the dice to see which type of inukshuk they must build, and then using their limited supply of polyminos, try and construct a perfectly balanced shape. Tuki has two levels of playing difficulty, so both newcomers and experts will be able to play alongside each other.

I will concede that I'm being hyperbolic and a little harsh by tarnishing all polymino games with the same brush, and Tuki looks like a really fun dexterity game which can be played with both family and friends. It will be debuting at the Origins Game Fair in 2019, and you can keep up to date with Tuki through the Next Move Games website.

Is there a specific type of game you hate to play?

"A really fun dexterity game!"
