More Details Drop For Atomic Mass’ Marvel: Crisis Protocol Alliances

Atomic Mass Games has dropped even more details about their upcoming game and spin-off to Marvel Crisis Protocol. Alliances and the first boxed game, Night of the Goblin, will be coming out later this year, pitting budding Web Warriors and their allies against the forces of the Green Goblin.
Night of the Goblin // Marvel Crisis Protocol Alliances
Designed in the style of a classic beat 'em up from the arcade days, Night of the Goblin and Alliances in general will see four heroes battling through different "stages" before facing off against bosses. In the case of Night of the Goblin, the four heroes are Spectacular Spider-Man (Peter Parker), Ultimate Spider-Man (Miles Morales), Black Cat, and Ghost Spider. Each hero brings their own strengths to the team and can be customised by accessing Level Up cards as you complete different stages.

Whether you're playing the game solo or cooperatively with friends, all four heroes are active on the board at the same time. This means that you'll have to understand each of the characters' abilities to weave them together and secure yourself victory on the tabletop against the Green Goblin and his minions.
Talking of enemies, the villains for Night of the Goblin will include Green Goblin alongside eighteen minions composed of War Goblin, Spider Slayer and Goblin Army miniatures. All of the miniatures in Alliance sets are push-fit and pre-coloured, so you don't have to paint them if you don't want to.

The miniatures are also fully compatible with the range for Marvel: Crisis Protocol, the full miniatures game by Atomic Mass Games. The miniatures are alternative sculpts for the existing characters and you'll get statistics cards for them included in Night of the Goblin as a bonus.
When it comes to the gameplay of Night of the Goblin, you will dive into a variety of scenarios that we've already mentioned, called Stages. Stages link together in order to play out the larger story on the tabletop. Each Stage has unique conditions that cover the minions' movements on the tabletop as well as the erratic but deadly Green Goblin.
Night of the Goblin - Gameplay // Marvel Crisis Protocol Alliances
Each game of Alliances is split into Rounds and within that, a series of phases: Power, Activation and Clean Up. In the first phase, players will gain Power for their heroes, which is used to activate their powerful attacks and abilities. Activation is self-explanatory and sees the four characters move around the board, doing whatever you need. The enemies then activate, new enemies are spawned and attacks come in from all angles based on their individual special rules.
New enemies will constantly spawn in Alliances, so you'll need to focus on dealing with them whilst also battling the Stage's core objective. It's going to be quite the balancing act for a seasoned team!
Night of the Goblin is just the first of the Alliances games, which will introduce new heroes, villains and minions which can be mixed and matched as you dive deeper. The teased second set for Alliances will see the X-Men battling Mastermold and an army of Sentinels! I can't wait for that one!
Has this persuaded you to take a closer look at Marvel Crisis Protocol Alliances?

I don’t think they used enough garish colours for the game. Nope.
