Footsore Miniatures & Games Working On New Cry Havoc!
March 9, 2026 by brennon
Footsore Miniatures & Games announced recently that they are going to be working on bringing the 1981 classic, Cry Havoc, back to the tabletop with the fantastic artist, Gary Chalk. This is going to be a great remaster of the classic board game from back in the day!
Cry Havoc // Footsore Miniatures & Games
The new version of the game from Footsore Miniatures & Games will feature Gary's illustrations (one of the original artists behind the game, alongside Peter Dennis) and will launch on Kickstarter in April. This might also end up showing up at Salute in April, which would be rather cool.
For those not aware of Cry Havoc, it is a "man-to-man Medieval combat wargame" where you'll command forces made up of peasants, sergeants, billmen, men-at-arms and knights across a variety of different scenarios.
Cry Havoc // Standard Games
Cry Havoc allowed you to play out the clashes of the 13th Century with your Medieval armies and was originally a game that could be played by two players but could also go all the way up to six in some cases. It made use of cardboard chits that would represent your various troops, all illustrated, of course, alongside similarly detailed maps.
Cry Havoc - Set-Up // Standard Games
As if that wasn't enough, Cry Havoc also expanded to include supplements and spin-offs to the core game, plus warfare in different periods. Samurai Blades covered Japanese battles, whilst Viking Raiders took you back to the Dark Ages. There were also Fantasy additions to Cry Havoc that came out throughout the course of the late 1980s and the 1990s.
I am fascinated to see if Footsore create a token-based game as you'd expect for Cry Havoc but also a series of (perhaps) small miniatures to go alongside it.
You can find out more about the Cry Havoc series of games via the fan website HERE, which contains details on the main series but also additional fan releases for the game.
Are you eager to see what Footsore Miniatures & Games do with Cry Havoc?

They should do the game as miniatures, but release it as the old-school boxed set for rules. I love that retro nostalgia aesthetic. Chit based? NIGHTMARE – my eyes can’t read that anymore 😂
just supply your own 6mm kniggets 😉
I wonder just how super dated the rules will feel.
Were you around in 1981?
You can judge for yourself below

It has Combat Results Tables like the old Avalon Hill/SPI games in which you work out odds.
“And in just 45 short minutes, you too can say, that’s a result!”
Given how many knight minis Footsore currently produce, they’d probably like people to buy a few to play the game with. Along with a few war dogs, which you might let slip in.
