Weekender: Ace Myth Minis, Prodos Head Sculpts & The 100th Episode!
May 30, 2015 by warzan
After the insanity that was the Bolt Action Boot Camp we're back with The Weekender and it's 100th Episode of the show today!
100 Episodes!
It seems so long ago that we set up the first episode of The Weekender with one camera and a handful of topics to talk about. We talk about the show, the work that goes into it and maybe even feel a little bit proud!
Warpath 2 Alpha
Last week also saw the exclusive launch for Backstagers of the Warpath 2 Alpha Rules by Mantic Games. If you want to pick those up then head over there with a Backstage Account and download them to give them a go.
UK Games Expo Live Blog
This weekend also sees the UK Games Expo kick off in Birmingham England and we have Ben over there to run a Live Blog for us of the days events. It should all kick off at 11am barring any major problems so keep an eye out.
Myth Miniatures
One of our community members, Jay Adan, has painted up a superb set of Myth miniatures and we take some time to delve into his collection and give it the attention it deserves!
You can follow along with a great thread on the forums called 'What Are You Painting Now?' which is great for seeing new projects.
World Wide D-Day Campaign
Don't forget that as well as the World Wide D-Day Campaign kicking off in the forums with the help of chrisg and oriskany we're also going to be seeing a new article series on Mondays from oriskany himself!
Keep an eye out for it and learn a bit more about what it's all about.
Warren & Justin In Miniature Form
In a massive ego boost both Warren and Justin have been turned into miniatures. Warren shows off his Slaughter Ball miniatures while both of them have also had their heads sculpted up by Prodos Games using the new service they provide.
Winners!
Last but not least we have some winners. The overall victor of the Battlezones Challenge is announced, we give away the Mars Attacks Mega Bundle AND all the winners from the Live Blog who got a D-Day Firefight Set will be revealed too.
If you want to claim a prize use the form HERE.
Have a great weekend folks!

It’s the weekender, awesome.
Happy 100.
Cracking show fellas, especially the last bit 😉
Thanks to everyone who voted for my designs! Once the Deadzone Infestation Kickstarter rewards land I’ll be combining the new industrial Battlezones with what I’ve already built, and what I’ve bought since, plus the awesome competition prize and creating some next level terrain madness.
It might take a while but watch this space…
…and hell yes I’d love to come and play Wargames Lego with you guys!
Awesome Job Tony! Can’t wait to see what’s next!
100, you don’t look a day over 99. Congratulations to all at BOW
What an accomplishment, what a milestone. 100 episodes! Congratulations on such an epic achievement. I also like the “Mini-heads” of Justin and Warren. I look forward to the eastern front Bolt Action game pitting “Kommissar Warrenov” and his Red Army guards against Herr “Oberleutnant Justinberg” and his German armored grenadiers!
Happy Saturday to all.
Is anyone playing out Horsa Bridge for the D-Day campaign?
Not yet, @guppysparks . We have obviously had a battle at Pegasus Bridge, and Chris Goddard is running at a battle at nearby Ranville (now modified in light of the “upset” at Pegasus). But nothing on Horsa Bridge itself yet.
100 episodes – quite a milestone guys, well done. D.x
HAPPY 100 xxxxxx
And now onto the next 100
Well done for making it to a ton! Considering how difficult things were just a short while ago with the move back from Essex, and not knowing if BOW was going to even stay viable, you guys have gone from strength to strength. Good work fellas, keep it up, the community needs guys like you!
Congratulations on reaching episode 100, guys!
Those Prodos heads are looking great- I like the idea of literally putting my gaming group into our semi-regular games of Advanced Heroquest (and an evil wizard for myself as GM to stand menacingly off-table!)…
Speaking of classic games, I’ve been on a bit of a nostalgia trip and planning on getting back into Necromunda and it gave me an idea for BOW- how about a series of ‘Veteran Weekends’ in a similar vein to the Boot-Camps where players of Mordheim, Necromunda, Gorkamorka etc get together to relive past glories and play a mini-campaign over the weekend. New players interested in these great old games could also get involved, of course!
Love this idea, might be tricky getting hold of the games though.
We are considering making the venue/accommodation/catering available for outside clubs and groups who want to do weekend gaming trips and getaways. So this might fit well into that 🙂
The rat tail thing is a Rat King. Would make a very different mini. Don’t look at any photos online over breakfast. Really gross.
Congratulations on the first 100 episodes.
Happy 100! So thrilled that you guys liked the hats! Maybe if you do a Wolsung boot camp Lefty and Sons can supply some headgear.
@warzen Thank you the kind words. Love love love BoW and all you guys stand for!
-Jack
@warzan Thank you the kind words. Love love love BoW and all you guys stand for!

Congrats on a century of weekender videos guys.
@warzan reasonably new to the site so was wondering where the name Turn 8 comes from?
It’s kind of like the. 19th hole
40k had upto 7 turns so turn 8 was a natter and a drink 🙂
Is checking out produs now
Congratulations on making it to a century.
Look forward to watching the next 100! 🙂
Congrats Guys,
Jack and I are so thrilled to have the hats join the 100th episode. We are super fans of the show and website. It is 2:37 AM here in Texas and I am tearing up seeing the pic of gorgeous little Savanna with her Scooby Doo lunchbox. We can’t thank you enough for all of the kind words about the hats. We really admire your commitment to sharing the love of gaming. Thanks again, Deanna (Lefty)
Congrats on reaching the 100 episode milestone!
Happy 100th!
And did I catch a glimpse of my DDay board just there?! 😀
Yes you did! They used some images from the upcoming articles. Like I was saying in the thread, the more materials you send, the more “famous” we can make you! 🙂
Happy 100th guys.
hear, hear… *raisesGlas*.
100 episodes. What a milestone. Congratulations to all beasts and former beasts (like Darrel, Andy, etc.). Looking back I’m only a backstager for like 2/3rd of this road, but it is the project I would support again any day of the week. Once a backstager, always a backstager.
Now what are you planning for the 100st XLBS?
Hippy 100th episode!
Sorry chaps, but they bottom left Warren (@approx 1hr) so belongs on a Dad’s army figure, one of the unnamed extras that make up the Home Guard unit of Walmington-on-Sea
HAPPY 100!!! Well done guys. To see what you have built there is properly impressive. Here’s to the next 100!!
Congrats on the 100th show………
Does this mean I need to send @warzan more ANZAC bikkies??
Congratulations on the 100th episode.
The tangle of rats creature you’re on about is a rat king. You try reading Terry Pratchets ‘ The Amazing Maurice ‘ to your kids , my son loved it so much we had to get it on audio tape. Even at 20 it’s still one of his favourite books.
Happy 100 ! Congrats and thanks for making a great show !!!
Awesome episode! think I’m going to look into getting into the game!
Congratulations are in order gentlemen!
Here’s to the next 100 🙂
Those heads are superb and the Myth paint jobs extraordinarily good, both worthy of the occasion.
Looking forward to the BSXL ermm XLBS..
Congrats on reaching 100….
Happy 100th episode, soon you guys must compile a be(a)st of the weekender episode!
And here’s to another 100 great episodes, Cheers!
as always an amazing show. Saw the enforcer interceptor at the open day, one thing you don’t get from the pics is how big it is. despite its size though Ronnie did confirm it will only transport 5 men.
Wait XLBS stands for Back Stage? I thought it was… y’know nevermind.
has the telegram from the queen arrived yet?
100 not out. Well done fellas.
On to the content … THAT FLYER!
@dignity thinks it’s a safari helmet, @warzan thinks its a WW1 tommy lid.. c’mon lads you’re taking the pith.
Great show – the war-gaming heads look fantastic.
Face mapping huh. I can see it now – bolt action BOW vs Dads Army. 🙂
Happy 100th guys
Having seen the pics I’m tempted to add my head to a few armies now….
Happy 100th. Well done guys.
Happy 100th guys
Fab episode…
I am still feeling a little guilty about the Pegasus Bridge game last week, mainly because we jumped into the game on Saturday evening and if I had stopped and thought about it we would have fought from the correct sides and maybe it would have been a British win… oh well
Still it was a good game with some brave para’s … and a totally honour to help kick off the day games.
No one can blame you, @commodorerob . I don’t think there was “supposed” to be Waffen SS troops and a Panther tank on the bridge, after all. 🙂
Zis german high command had given orders for zis bridges to held Englander. Ve vill have succeeded vether no matter vich side you vould have landed on.
Victory for the fatherland
Chin up you still 1966 ha ha ha
I personally think that the Germans winning Pegasus was EXACTLY what we needed!
Whilst Chris and Jim have their work cut out for them it’s amazing to ask ‘what if?’ And theorise on possible knock on effects
Frankly it would be boring if we weren’t thinking and learning about the history
I agree. As much as I love history, if the game shakes out EXACTLY as it did historically, than maybe it starts to get a little dull. Also, with so many operations going on, so many battles, landings, drops, glider assaults, firefights, commando raids, naval barrages, counterattacks, resistance actions . . . the 100% reversal of one operation – even one as vital as Pegasus Bridge – isn’t going to throw the whole thing on its head. But it does make the east flank interesting, doesn’t it?
Which reminds me, @lateo . Your paras had better do a job at Merville Battery! Pegasus Bridge was one thing, but there’s a reputation to uphold here! 😀
Happy Hundredth!!
Congrats on 100 guys!!! Here’s to 100’s more.
Loved Jay’s Myth images. He’s a real talent. Here’s his YouTube channel if interested
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1DFkDORwXtb6d4atOa0lxw
100th episode, congrats guys!
I’ve watched every one (and the xlbs’s too), and there have been some brilliant moments. I think those few ‘outside broadcasts’ when you moved back from Essex are most memorable, people walking around behind you all wondering what the heck is going on.
I must confess my first love is Turn 8, but other than that this is by far the best gaming show I have come across, and i include Tabletop in that. The first 100 have been genuinely entertaining, thanks from me to everyone who has been involved.
NERF THROWDOWN!!! 101st Episode!!!!
Congratulations on getting to show 100 guys
Happy 100th guys
and oh yes jammy dance time tnx
happy 100th episode!! keep up the good work guys!!
Happy century, Roll on the millennium.
Congrats guys! To a hundred more!
congrats on getting to the ton. loved the show, the hats,& the new myth figures. Justin if you use the plan head I think you would make a good wizard?
Happy 100 episode!
Re getting into the game, Warren you may want to get a Soviet helmet or you just may find out how friendly, friendly fire really is 🙂
Congrats on the 100 episodes guys 🙂 Keep up the good work.
Justin’s 3d head looks really cool.
Congrats guys. I have said before, you all have revitalized my gaming interest and desire to paint and add to my collections of geekdom again. Looking forward to the, very grey, 1000th episode.
Congratulations guys a well deserved 100! and to many many more!
Happy 100th.
Congo rats on 100!
How about some air time for Firestorm? New drop ships coming soon which will add another dimension to the game.
Keep up the great work!
Congrats to all of you, the hard work you put into every episode is plainly there to see and I thank you for it. Possibly the best decision I made to change from a white dwarf subscription to a backstager one. And for all those who haven’t jumped yet and are reading this….what are you waiting for ?????
Congrats on 100 Shows! Looking forward to many many more. I am going to have to have a mini made for my husband. I think he would look fantastic as an Orc or Dwarf….It is a great idea for Xmas. Looking forward to XLBS.
Happy 100th guys!
This was a good show today, i missed the Myth minis on the boards and i’m glad you showed it, these are awesome!
See you next week!
Lads if you want to celebrate the 100th XLBS with a live hangout post ealry so I can plan on taking a sicky if needed. You rock. Bring back Turn 8
I can understand that BoW has a limit on how much content it can put out, so if you are looking to diversify your shows, would you consider doing the weekender one week, then turn 8 the next?
Don’t put cogs on the top hat unless the hat is meant to do something. And Congrats on the 100th show!
Yes, headswaps look great..
Will be great for my Yuridian Mining Company for Warpath. I will make them a clone army that all look like me!!!
congratulations lads and lasses of BOW on the 100th show, you have kept me smiling for many weekenders now, when i have been ill, the shows have been the only window into my hobby at times and i am a big fan of what you guys do.
keep up the good work and i echo Deaddaves comment the industry and hobby needs more guys like you.
Happy 100 years old guys, you lot haven’t aged a bit! 😀 Stay classy BoW. 🙂
Happy 100! 🙂
57:55 is funny. 🙂
John: “I like it, Justin. Except for your eyes, Justin. You’re staring into my SOUL!”
Justin: “Oh, I thought I did that on a day-to-day basis.”
John: “No . . . there’s nothing there.”
All the best on a really great thing, 100 shows is one of those things that comes around every century or so. Well done again and a serious second heads up for the WWDDC, many thanks and I hope to watch the next one hundred or century which ever comes first?.
Gratz on 100 guys!
Here’s to 100 more!
Wow. 100 shows. Awesome work guys.
Congrats on 100!
Happy 100th! But…tbh..I expected more “flashbacks”…best xyz…and behind the scenes talk for a 100th issue…biggest mishap ect. Oh well…maybe with the 100th XLBS 🙂
A big Texas congratulations and A big thanks for your awesome show…Let us know when you cross the pond for a visit!!!
Congratulations on 100th Show!!
Mars attack! Mars attack! Mars attack!
congrats on the 100th… looking forward to the next round of bootcamps but can I request a bootcamp around march time next year ( near my birthday) something in a sci-fi game possibly?
A bit repetitive I guess but I will also congratulate you on the 100th episode. I am not great for the comments but I can say that I have seen near enough all of them. I especially liked the ones that you done outside after you moved back from England. (Definitely a highlight) I’ve seen the highs and the lows I guess.
Only another 15 ish years until you reach 600 episodes at your current rate. I know you can do it. Back stage until the end.
Have you guys been seeing what your compatriots at GeekAndSundry been doing with their twitch channels and live shows?
Happy 100th!
Happy 100th!!! Great work guys I look forward to this show every weekend.
Congrats on making it to a century BOW! You keep making ’em, we will keep watching ’em.
Congratulations on you 100th episode of the weekender. Loved the Prodos heads hopefully we will see some on minis when they are painted.
Congratulations on 100 weekenders! You’ve helped me realise how varied war-gaming and board-gaming are outside of the main game I used to play. My trouble now is finding time to play em all, he he! Those Prodos heads are fantastic; would be great to be in the game. Keep up the cracking work guys. 🙂
@dignity Still looking for some steampunk gear?
