Oathmark: Battles Of The Lost Age Rulebook Gets Released!

April 1, 2020 by avernos

Created by Joseph A. McCullough, designer of Frostgrave and Rangers Of ShadowdeepOathmark is a mass-battle fantasy wargame that puts you in command of the fantasy army you've always wanted, whether a company of stalwart dwarves or a mixed force with proud elves, noblemen, and wild goblins standing shoulder-to-shoulder in the battle-line.

Oathmark Rules

Fight through an integrated campaign system and develop your realms from battle to battle, adding new territories, recruiting new troop types, and growing to eclipse your rivals…or lose what you fought so hard to gain and fall as so many would-be emperors before you.

You may know that Ben and myself have been champing at the bit for mid-April and Salute to come around to lay our hands on this hardback tome of fantasy joy. Then came the unpleasantness and everything stalled and shut down. We waited. Expectant, for the release date. And now it's here!

North Star and Osprey Publishing have been building towards this release for a while, and the launchpad of Salute was going to herald a new age of fantasy gaming in a Lost Age of Battles (see what I did there, journalism!). The Books are in but the other parts of the launch are still in various states and with the disruption set to continue they've made the decision to launch the game now. Orders at the time of writing have already put a dent in the stock, so if you want an early copy get in soon.

So what does that mean for the big plans and other Oathmark Releases? Well, Nick has let us know that they'll still be making their way to a tabletop near you.

The plan is to still give you an Oathmark miniatures release, but later on when shops are back open and North Star is fully staffed again. This will include the new Elf Light Infantry, the limited edition DragonArmy Deals including free figures and we will work out a way so that everyone who ordered the book still gets a free Sorcerer figure when they order some figures later on.

Light Armoured Elves

As you can see the elves have a consistent style to their armaments but the head options let you play with pallets, meaning you can play with hooded rangers or helmed light infantry line archers in a uniform. The clean design is going to be a godsend for gamers on the tabletop. Do you want to see the limited edition elf? Are you sure? I've got a photo here, it's no trouble really. Ah sure here, you don't have to look if you don't want to.

elf

Mark Copplestone sculpted and Kevin Dallimore painted, and I for one can't wait to lay my hands on him/her/it. Never check under an elf's robe!

Do you fancy building an Empire?
