Ultramarine Space Marine by brushstroke

The first of the miniatures we're looking at this week include brushstroke's work on some more Space Marines. Once again, brushstroke has been working on different Chapters and this time around it was the Ultramarines.

Ultramarines Lieutenant Amulius #1 by brushstroke

This fellow, Lieutenant Amulius, looks absolutely fantastic. The crisp, clean blue is amazing and I think it really makes the Ultramarine scheme pop. The gold trim then helps to draw the eye and focus the attention. Even the classic Primaris Lieutenant helmet design looks fantastic here.

Ultramarines Lieutenant Amulius #2 by brushstroke

I love all the little details here and there too. The small glow around the hilt of the power sword and the excellent detail worked into the face. He looks like a grizzled Space Marine who has seen many battles throughout his time. Whilst they might be the poster boys of the Warhammer 40,000 world, they sure look fantastic.

Junior Frostgrave by cuirass

Next up, we're approaching something a little different. cuirass has been doing some good work on bringing a warband of Frostgrave miniatures to life. Here is some of their work on a couple of the characters leading the way.

Frostgrave #1 by Cuirass

However, the real gem of this project is the fact that a youngster is getting involved! See what you make of the work by cuirass' eldest (ten years old) who has been painting up Morgarth The Necromancer!

Frostgrave #2 by Cuirass

Whilst the idea might be to get as much paint on these miniatures as fast as possible and get them to the tabletop, I think these look brilliant. For someone starting out, I think this looks fantastic and I really like the way the Warband Of The Red Kilt has shaped up.

Frostgrave #3 by Cuirass

The paint scheme chosen works really nicely and I think it suits a dark warband of followers who wander around the ruins behind a Necromancer. I also really liked the metallic work on these miniatures here with a good mix of bronze, gold and silver.

Who Goes There? by klorophil

Lastly, we're looking at the work by klorophil who has been painted up the different characters from the Who Goes There? board game. This is a good mix of characters inspired by The Thing which have a cartoon quality to them.

Who Goes There #1 by klorophil

The paint scheme here is really good at matching the comic book feel of the miniatures. I think there have been some big, bold colour choices which are also then strengthened by heavy highlighting and shading here and there.

Who Goes There #2 by klorophil

I also like all of the neat details here and there. The radio above works nicely, especially with the green screen blinking and flickering. I also liked the way the glasses were done as they could easily have become an awkward and hastily painted element of the miniature.

Who Goes There #3 by klorophil

All of the characters also work very well in terms of picking out who is who. I think you'd very easily be able to pick out who is who from afar thanks to the use of good primary colours. It's always nice seeing these smaller collections of miniatures from board games come together. This will be a fun set when it is all finished!
