With apologies, in the interest of getting the Boot Camp ready and a themed week ready for the following week we’re busting our buttons.
Who knows, someone from the community may jump into the spot and I expect a beating from Gerry this weekend for my negligence.
Have a great week and we’ll be back to normal routine soon enough!

September 25, 2018 at 3:22 pm #1274166Not angry. Just a feeling of being let down and overcome with an aura of disappointment
September 26, 2018 at 11:18 am #1274539that’s the second one…. for an event most can’t attend! *insert crying baby gif here*
DANG IT!
September 26, 2018 at 1:06 pm #1274600September 26, 2018 at 2:36 pm #1274639September 26, 2018 at 3:04 pm #1274662I expressed this back a few years ago when the BoW team first started (and went somewhat overboard imho) on boot camps. I do agree that they are a cool unique event, but they are also something that only a very small portion of your community is directly involved it. Back at that time, and I’m seeing it happen again, that the Boot Camp literally consumes the team and the site. Other website content (like the Hobby hangouts, which I love participating in) are shortened/skipped for several weeks because of Boot Camp activities, and a lot of the content that is added to the site is directly related to the boot camp (see the various project logs and Vlogs on armies and tables for the boot camp). Additionally, content is often sometimes slow the week after as the team recovers from the bootcamp.
particularly as someone from the US, who is very unlikely to attend a Boot Camp, it appears that a LOT of effort an focus goes into these events that don’t reach that much of your community.
Not to be overly critical, but just sharing my thoughts.
September 26, 2018 at 3:24 pm #1274675It’s too late to go making up cover stories now, your audience is already disappointed with you :p
September 26, 2018 at 3:25 pm #1274677I live about an hour and half from Coleraine and think you make some very valid points
September 26, 2018 at 3:43 pm #1274687As a bootcamp attender this time ,I might be a bit biased, I do understand your comments, but if you look at the content that derives from the bootcamps the amount of footage @lancorz films more than makes up for it . Certainly with this one, there as been tons of material from John and Justin on hobbying the tables (most of them can be used for multiple genres). Johns blog in his own time on his little tank project without forgetting @oriskany‘s excellent build up , re-visiting the Desert War series.
Now I agree only 24 of us can attend, but they do try to make the live blogs inclusive, I certainly felt the coverage of the Beta test for Fabled Realms made me feel like I was there ( I made a point of thanking Lance, Lloyd and all the backrooms boys for all their work at the time), as they try to do with events like Gencon, Salute , Games Expo, Even though I attended the later two they spotted and did spots on stuff I completely missed). Over the weekend we will get gaming reports, hobby tips both from them and the participants, and I reckon a lot more back ground from @oriskany, so hopefully you wont be short changed.
September 26, 2018 at 5:11 pm #1274718Always open to ideas on how we can make bootcamp type events even more inclusive for you guys watching from home.
They are a big effort but equally they do generate a lot of potential content. (obviously your mileage may vary on how interested you are!)
September 26, 2018 at 7:23 pm #1274738Who needs a hobby hangout when there’s the alternative weekender thread ?
I’m sure a new one will start on friday, but it’s never too late to join in on the fun and show your work or talk about hobby related things.
And there’s also fun to be had with all kinds of Ork-ish things in the Orktober thread :
