    ### Start of shameless copy and paste ###

First time visitor to OTT? Then please introduce yourself in the New Member Thread and look around in the Project System. Then come back and read on…

    https://www.beastsofwar.com/forums/topic/introduce-yourselves-new-member-thread/

    https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/

Read all of this before you start as it will save you any trouble later.

First thing you must do is make your “pledge”. It can be anything gaming related, big or small, and you don’t even have to finish it. No, in here, happiness is the road. Have fun doing whatever it is, but it is not a race. Accompany your work with pictures or we might think you are do something sinister and just using us for cover.

You are also presented with a few questions. It is to get the conversation started. Try and keep your answers ‘conversational’, no text speak, and certainly no “basically”. This is how we all get to know each other better. While you are here feel free to tell us a story, show a picture, joke, tales of love or woe, or just add your own little bit. This is the whole point…in here it is just us.

If you have never taken part before we may bark and bite, but we also like a cuddle! It is all done in the best possible taste and it is character building. feel free to give as good as you get.

A few other things to note: NO RELIGION & NO POLITICS! Glasgow pub rules are in effect. If you need to make a better point then it is fine, but don’t take the piss. And always keep it civil.

Play plenty of music to go with your work. Loud and through proper speakers. Write us a playlist of things we might not have heard before.

Now, after all of that there is only one ‘real’ rule in here and it cannot be broken: NO DICKS! (Exceptions may be made for little fighting men with little plastic/resin/metal wieners)

And don’t forget the highlights of the weekend: The Weekender on Friday and XLBS on Sunday. And the little show that is the unofficial Hobby Hangout over at twitch.tv

    ### End of shameless copy and paste ###

    Questions:

    • coffee or tea
    • square or round
    • dice or cards

And now back to the show.

    • yes!
    • the good one!
    • why not both?

As you can guess by my questions: my brain is on standby. Wednesday I had the tooth removed and basically not really slept since. Closed my eyes for intervals but that’s it. Have some music:

    Happy Friday.

Pledge for this weekend is to finish the 8 goblins I’ve been slowly working on, then I have just 8 more and they are all done, or at least the ones from Artisan Designs will be.

    coffee or tea

Tea is my first love, but I like the occasional coffee.

    square or round

Mostly round these days as I don’t play rank & flank games anymore.

    dice or cards

I kind of prefer dice as the same ones can be used in many different games whereas cards are tied to just one game. Of course there are exceptions, custom dice such as those used in Gaslands for in Sláine for example, and I quite like the card system for Moonstone. I’m not sure that the game would have carved its own place as effectively if it had used dice.

Even though I’ve had the week off my painting has been slow thanks to attempting to learn the rules for 40k 9th, now that the Chaos Codex is out.

I’ve been creating quick reference sheets for the game and for my Chaos army and I think I’m actually ready to play a game and have a good understanding of the rules.

I last played 8th edition over 2 years ago and if my group didn’t want to still play it I would have dropped it and moved on.

Ha, yes, more than likely. No plan survives contact with the enemy (or 40k).

I drink lots of tea, but normally one, or two coffees per day.

Tend to use round bases now because most things I buy come with round bases.

Only game I played with cards was Through the Breach and it felt like cheating to choose a card to determine success… so I drew from my hand without looking…

Dice may not always like me… but I like the chaos of random…

oooh … an easy set this time

    1. TEA … because coffee is for people who need a booster to wake up 😉
    2. ROUND … ’cause it’s like a set of infinite pointy bits 😀
    3. dice for throwing & cards for cheating … 😉

    Ok, last one wasn’t easy.

    @demonsub playing 40k again … I pity you fools 😀
Then again … is it better to have played and suffered through 40k than not to have played at all ?

Oh, believe me, I’ve played 40k, all the way since 2nd edition. I think 5th or 6th was the best version. It’s been downhill since. I’m down to just the one army now but I’ve had four back in the day.

Pledge: Finish the metallics on the vehicles I’m working on for my Forge Father project.

    Tea.

Square for fantasy and historicals (pre bolt action rifles).  Round for Sci-fi and historical (bolt action rifles and beyond).  Will make exceptions if it’s a game like Carnevale.  Not sure for Silver Bayonet.

    Cards because dice hate me.

Cards. So many RPG’s, dungeoncrawlers, and miniatures game use dice, I’m pretty much tune them out, given the games already in my game pile. Dominion and Gloomhaven are my favorite games, and both are oriented towards cards.

Again not sure what my pledge will be this week. We’re due a heat wave in the UK so it probably wont be good for painting.

I just finished another large model. https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/1706063/

    • coffee or tea – neither
    • square or round – happy with either
    • dice or cards – usually dice, but intrigued by card mechanics

They say sometimes you need to go away, in order to come back. Good to see things have been ticking over while I’ve been “away” (ok, otherwise engaged with a new job and generally not doing much hobby of late). And what better time to come back? Straight into some hard-hitting questions that I’m absolutely passionate about.

    • coffee or tea – tea. I’m quite partial to a coffee but if I had to pick one, it’d be tea. Anyone who chooses otherwise is a monster.
    • square or round – round. Miniatures point in the direction their faces are looking. Square bases confuse which way is forward. Anyone who says otherwise is a monster.
    • dice or cards – cards. Dice are stupid (quite literally). They’re dumb. Cards have “memory”. This matters in games – being able to tell when your luck is about to change (and, importantly, knowing for sure it’s going to happen) make games fun. Losing because your opponent got a few lucky dice rolls stinks. Anyone who believes otherwise is a monster.

Here’s your music. It’s a three-chord twelve-bar-blues. I’ve been playing quite a bit of this at the local jam nights of late. It’s not only great fun to play, but brilliant to listen to, loudly.

Are we still doing pledges? I’ve a couple of Blood Bowl orcs that have been half-painted for about 18 months. Getting those finished (and based) by next weekend feels like an acheivable target…

Pledge: Paint a mini to completion. I mighy do more if I cut back on the detail

Coffee, tea, its all for me

The proper form for the appropriate application

Gaming aid of choice depends on the system

Pledge is complete, 8 more goblins done. I spent most of yesterday painting and this morning finishing off the bases. Closer pics of each miniature and Lloyd shots are in the project – https://www.beastsofwar.com/project-entry/1753651/
