### Start of shameless copy & paste ###
First time visitor to OTT? Then please introduce yourself in the New Member Thread and look around in the Project System. Then come back and read on…
Read all of this before you start as it will save any trouble later.
First thing you must do is make your “pledge”. It can be anything gaming related, big or small, and you don’t even have to finish it. No, in here, happiness is the road. Have fun doing whatever it is, but it is not a race. Accompany your work with pictures or we might think you are do something sinister and just using us for cover.
You are also presented with a few questions. It is to get the conversation started. Try and keep your answers ‘conversational’, no text speak, and certainly no “basically”. This is how we all get to know each other better. While you are here feel free to tell us a story, show a picture, joke, tales of love or woe, or just add your own little bit. This is the whole point…in here it is just us.
If you have never taken part before we may bark and bite, but we also like a cuddle! It is all done in the best possible taste and it is character building. feel free to give as good as you get.
A few other things to note: NO RELIGION & NO POLITICS! Glasgow pub rules are in effect. If you need to make a better point then it is fine, but don’t take the piss. And always keep it civil.
Play plenty of music to go with your work. Loud and through proper speakers. Write us a playlist of things we might not have heard before.
Now, after all of that there is only one ‘real’ rule in here and it cannot be broken: NO DICKS! (Exceptions may be made for little fighting men with little plastic/resin/metal wieners)
And don’t forget the highlights of the weekend: The Weekender on Friday and XLBS on Sunday. And the little show that is the unofficial Hobby Hangout over at twitch.tv
### End of shameless copy & paste ###

- What is the meaning of life?

May 21, 2021 at 2:18 pm #1648089Pledge; finish the projects I started last year…
That’s a big one…. sure you can handle it? 😉
May 21, 2021 at 2:20 pm #1648090I’ll probably be saying the exact same thing next year lol
May 21, 2021 at 3:05 pm #1648120May 21, 2021 at 4:34 pm #1648194Can’t really make a specific pledge again this week, but I’d like to do some skin tone experiments that I’ve been meaning to try for some time…we’ll see if I get to it, though.
Questions!
What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?
Assuming the swallow is making a round flight from point A through point B and returning to point A, then the average velocity of the swallow would be zero due to the displacement of the swallow being zero so regardless of the time taken the end result will still be zero. Physics is fun…African or European? What is the meaning of life?
42.
What is best in life?
Blue! I mean greeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen…
May 21, 2021 at 5:23 pm #1648207- What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?
At least twice that of one carrying a coconut - What is the meaning of life?
drink, eat and be happy … - What is best in life?
To quote Conan :
“To crush your enemies, see them driven before you and to hear the lamentations of their women …”

Plans ?
I see Stargrave week starting at OTT next week … so maybe prep some things for that ?
There’s so much hobby stuff I could be doing that I am afraid I might end up doing none of it at all.
Definitely need to keep me distracted and stop my mind from worrying too much.
Also visiting my parents tomorrow.Extra long weekend ahead … so maybe one lost day isn’t that bad.
May 21, 2021 at 6:53 pm #1648212I know everyone will be thinking of their wittiest replies to rather frivolous questions, so I thought I’d go a bit “left-field” and answer with sincerity.
- about 24 miles an hour
- pass on what you’ve learned
- friends
I nearly answered “music” to the last one. But for absolute bestest-in-the-world, I’ll stick with friends (real people, not the TV show). But music comes a very close second. Speaking of which, here’s some great music to listen to.
Now, don’t you all go losing your mind about some rubbish pop star singing a rubbish song with a rubbish voice – this isn’t subjective. This song is objectively brilliant. Here’s why
(yes, I *have* been playing quite a lot of guitar this week, and spending a lot of time studying music theory and, in particular, intervals and how diminished chords work – how did you know?)
Ohhhh…. pledge? Erm. I just printed some Aliens miniatures from Papsikels today; maybe get them painted up and get my submission in for the May painting competition?
May 21, 2021 at 7:17 pm #1648225Pledge – I got some more Moonstone models a little while back so I plan on assembling them and making a start on painting them.
What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?
Green. No wait, aaaahhhhhhh….
What is the meaning of life?
42 I think? I’ll ask a fish or a french waiter.
What is best in life?
To paint your miniatures, see them driven on the battlefield and hear the lamentations of bad dice rolling.
I don’t really listen to music while painting but I do while reading and I’ve been reading some classic Dragonlance novels recently. My playlist includes mostly music from various video games such as Divinity: Original Sin 2, Skyrim & Oblivion, the whole Witcher series and both the Ori games. Good stuff.
May 21, 2021 at 9:21 pm #1648248Pledge is to any hobby whatsoever. I’ve been having a very low week after some bad family news too and I think I need out of my own head for a bit. I have some stuff primed but I have a feeling that painting isn’t going to happen. Maybe just some reading for research.
I’m afraid I can’t possibly answer those questions, none of us have that kind of clearance.
With you on this one @blinky465 – Miles Cyrus has been putting out some great covers recently. Definitely come a long way from the days of Disney controlled career. Can’t settle to anything music wise this week so I’ve gone back and started listening to the Glass Cannon podcast from the beginning again. It’s just noise for the background but it works.
May 22, 2021 at 10:00 am #1648361Well I’ve finally resolved my printer issues so this weeks pledge is to paint the model I printed in greyscale and one colour for OSL. I’ve updated my 3D printing project here with how I solved my problem for anyone interested: https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/1584420/
Here’s the model I’ll be working on after I used milliput to fill the print errors and I applied a zenith undercoat. I actually did most of the painting last night while watching the Weekender. I’ll update my painting project once I’ve added the OSL.
May 22, 2021 at 10:04 am #1648362@ninjilly – I thought she absolutely butchered “Heart of Glass” and I can’t pretend I’m a fan of the “belt it out at 110% volume *all the time* ” style singing. I’ve tended not to even notice her other stuff (other than wondered “who is ruining this brilliant song?” when her Blondie cover came on the radio) but there was just something about Plastic Hearts (and *that* live performance) that really made me pay attention. Will have to get over my musical snobbishness and see what else she’s been up to!
I’m listening to a lot of blues, so I can take a solo or two when the jam night opens up here in a few weeks. But I might learn Plastic Hearts and try to shoe-horn it in somewhere….
