Wargames Atlantic has now released some new plastic kits into the wild. The new 28mm Conquistadors and Aztec Warriors are now available so you can play out Historical battles in Central America.

Leading the way, we have the Conquistadors. This set comes with twenty-four plastic figures which you can use to start building up invading forces that are heading off to the New World in search of gold and more plunder.

These miniatures can be armed with a variety of weapons making them great for a skirmishing force or a more organised regiment. You can give them swords, spears, halberds, crossbows, muskets, pikes and two-handed swords.

You also get a whole host of different bodies, heads, arms and accessories in the set allowing you to make some unique soldiers. This set would also work for a number of different forces during the 16th Century so you could mix and match as you see fit.

New Aztec Warriors

Set against this invading force from Europe, the Aztec Warriors are also going to be taking to the battlefields of Central America.

This set comes with thirty miniatures for you to set against the armour and black powder of the Conquistadors.

You could also use these warriors as part of the ritualistic Flower Wars if you so desired. There was plenty of infighting that you could explore when it comes to the rise of the Aztec Empire. There are loads of weapon options here too including bows, atlatl, macuahuitl, spears, slings and more. You can also dress your warriors in their loincloths or those full "suits" which mirror the different, vibrant colours of the jungle.

This should allow you to play out an interesting conflict on the tabletop, exploring smaller skirmishes and adventures as part of a campaign perhaps. I like the idea of plotting a Conquistador crew's landing and exploration of the new continent whilst the Aztecs fight back. You could make it asymmetrical with the Conquistadors having a set amount of troops to use across the campaign whereas the Aztecs can easily replace their losses from game to game.

Are you tempted by these new releases?
